Westgate Las Vegas is located just east of the Las Vegas Strip, directly behind the former Riviera property.  It is home to a Las Vegas Monorail station.  Westgate opened as the International on July 2, 1969.  It later became the Las Vegas Hilton, which was later called the LVH after a bankruptcy.

Westgate is a time share company with several properties in Las Vegas.  The Westgate has rooms set aside for its timeshare customers.  It also offers rooms to the general public.  Westgate is best known for its sportsbook.  It is referred to as the SuperBook.  It is operated by Jay Kornegay.  There are 3,261 rooms at Westgate.  The casino offers 74,000 square feet.

The video poker at Westgate is exceptional, even for an off-Strip resort.  A look at VPFree2 shows that the best game is Loose Deuces, which has a 100.15% return on five coins with perfect play.  There is also Two-Pair Jokers Wild with a 99.92% return.  These are available in quarter denominations.  There are also great versions of Deuces Wild, Jacks or Better, and Bonus Poker Deluxe in quarters.  The full-pay Jacks or Better machines are also spread in nickels and dollars.

The players club at Westgate returns .1% at video poker and .2% for slots.  This may be redeemed for free play.  A player also earns comps based on the theoretical house edge that may be used for dining or at retail shops owned by Westgate.

The sportsbook at Westgate is known as SuperBook.  It offers some of the best parlay odds in the world.  It also spreads dime-lines on baseball and offers vig discounts on certain days during the NFL season.  Westgate also offers some of the best futures prices.  High rollers will enjoy the special $1,000 minimum betting window.  The Superbook was completely remodeled in 2015 just before the football season.

There are more than 2,900 standard hotel rooms and 300 suites at Westgate.  Some are reserved for its timeshare customers that use points to stay at the property.  As vast majority of the newly remodeled rooms are sold to the public.

Restaurants at Westgate

The flagship restaurant at Westgate is Benihana.  It has been on the property longer than any other and specializes in Japanese cuisine.  Many dishes are prepared fresh at the table.  TJ’s is a traditional Las Vegas steakhouse.  Casual options include Teru Sushi, Silk Road Noodle, the buffet, and Sid’s Café.  Fortuna, a coffee shop, and the Superbook Deli are open 24 hours a day.  A small food court offers Pizza Hut, Perk Place, and an ice cream shop.

Westgate presents Sexxy, a topless revue starring Jennifer Romas.  It is very highly acclaimed.  Other entertainment options, as of July 2015, include Graceland presents Elvis: The Exhibition and Suzanne Somers starring in Suzanne Sizzles.

Westgate offers a large surface lot and two parking decks.  Valet parking is also available.  The second most northern stop on the Las Vegas Monorail is at Westgate.  This gives easy access to the southern portion of the Las Vegas Strip for $5 each way.

My Conclusion

The former Las Vegas Hilton has been brought back to life by Westgate.  Paragon Gaming took over the operation of the casino and it is better than ever.  If you dismissed the property because of its past reputation, it may be time to give Westgate another chance.
