Quote: MichaelBluejayMission (et al), I know that most players don't play table games, but to me, it's the presence of table games that makes a casino, feel like a casino. As one example, the periodic yelling from the craps table makes the casino feel alive. Without that, a slots-only establishment seems pretty dead.
It's your website, it's your list, do as you please.

I asked my wife what she thought.
She has all of about 3 hours of experience on casino floors; the tables that interest her are in the restaurant.
She says it's not a casino if it's just slots.
hm.. thought their table games were back?Quote: daveyandersen1.Does Casino Royal still have a craps table ??? anyone know??? They did in sept..of 2020 But how about now??? NEVER MIND------ I CALLED------ THEY DON'T
their website last month (6/2021) said they have table games (including craps) and i wrote a thread about it:
https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/las-vegas-attractions/other/36115-table-games-are-back-at-casino-royale/
It's hard to get anyone on the phone there, but I called and they said no tables with live dealers, and the person I spoke with knew of no plans to bring them back.
Casino City put it at 4000sf and no table games. I'm not inclined to call it a casino, but maybe I'll add a list of slot parlors to the casinos list.Quote: billryanIs The Eureka a casino?
Wild Wild West has no table games currently. (WWW pictured below)
Casino Royale also has no table games currently (as mentioned earlier). While I was there I reenrolled in their loyalty program for the $20 freeplay promo. I think this promo can be done every 12 months after your account is deactivated/expired.
Quick summary of promo run: $20 in @ .50 cent Bonus Poker 7/5. Played 8 hands (ending balance $7.50), card out and card reinserted, made a few selections on screen (w/pin) to activate $20 freeplay, played 8 more hands (ending balance $22.50) = +2.50.
Well 100xodds I called and talked to a guy at the hotel.. Maybe he has his head up his ass.. Who knows I'm just relaying what he saidQuote: 100xOddshm.. thought their table games were back?

Are there other places with 250plus machines in Vegas that you don't consider casinos? I can't think of anything else its size.
- We're talking about the little place on the Strip, right ?
I'm no MD, but I hope that guy on the phone has good insurance, it sounds expensive to have a head removed from an Ass.
- Soopoo, care to weigh in here ?
Peace, out.
If you were to ask the hotel idiot how many total rooms the hotel has, in my experience, it’s about 25% that he’ll know. More likely he will have to ask his supervisor.
Have to get to the right department when asking casinos about stuff, then you’re at least 50/50 on getting the right answer.
Okay, maybe your probability isn’t quite that high even then.

(1) Should Tuscany (with a hotel, 50k sf gaming space, but no table games) be listed as a casino or not? Why or why not?
Yes, a casino. Significant gaming space with free-standing gambling areas (i.e. not focused on bar-tops). Plus they now have a sports book.
Yes, a casino. I think an essential character of a casino is its pervasive focus on gambling with a variety of gambling options, not necessarily the specific options offered. Yes, I differentiate slots and video poker.Quote:

Yes, a casino. IMHO hotel doesn't matter, unless you want to classified as a casino-resortQuote:(3) Should Slots-A-Fun (with no hotel or table games) be listed as a casino or not? Why or why not?

(4) Should OYO (0.3 miles from the Strip) be listed as a "Strip" casino?
No, that is strip adjacent, but it does not have a strip (Las Vegas Blvd.) address, nor does any part of the property touch LV Blvd.
i was shocked to find out the monorail was a privately owned and not govt (till it's bankrupcy in 2020).Quote: MichaelBluejayI just added the inter-casino trams to my Strip Map.
I'm used to mass transit being city owned. (ie: nyc subway)
it started off as MGM Grand to Ballys in 1995, paid for by the 2 hotels.
then it was extended to Sahara casino in 2002.
I'm assuming Caesars, harrahs, Vegas Hilton (now Westgate) and Sahara kicked in $ to extend it?
In other news, I just added Venetian to my Casino Hall of Shame, for misleading about its triple-zero roulette game.
Quote: MichaelBluejayIt was easy to predict that the monorail would fail before it even opened, given that it didn't run along the Strip. However, a train between the LA area and Vegas has a much greater chance of success. As long as there's ample, safe parking at the station and the price isn't ridiculous, I think it would be successful. Trains in most parts of the world are successful.
In other news, I just added Venetian to my Casino Hall of Shame, for misleading about its triple-zero roulette game.
I also think a train from Los Angeles to Vegas could be successful. A train from Victorville to Vegas will be a huge failure. If people from Los Angeles have to drive two hours to Victorville in traffic they won't bother taking the train.
One presumes that if they're gonna build a train line all the way from Vegas to just outside LA, they'll complete it by having a connection all the way into LA.
In other news, my list of Free Things to See & Do in Vegas, which started a couple years ago with 34 things, is now up to 63 things.
First know that MGM Resorts owns a bunch of casinos (not just the MGM Grand), and Caesars Entertainment likewise owns a bunch of casinos (not just Caesars Palace).
Used to be that each of these companies owned both the casino business and the real estate (land+buildings). But starting in 2017, both companies formed spinoffs to sell most of their real estate to, to get an influx of cash, to weather bad times. Being that COVID hit not long after, that action now seems downright prescient.
MGM Properties formed MGM Growth Properties to own the real estate, and Caesars Entertainment formed VICI. So now, in a twist no one could see coming, VICI is acquiring MGM Growth Properties. So an offshoot of Caesars Ent. (a competitor of MGM Resorts), is gonna own the real estate for MGM Resorts. Wow. That also means that VICI is gonna own most of the real estate on the Strip.
Easy Vegas has all the details on my page of Who owns which casino.
30) Bellagio chandelier & conservatory
- I think this should be moved WAAAAY up to the list, top 10 for sure.
35) Mirage Dolphin "Habitat"
- Isn't there is an admission fee for that ?
xx) Area 15
- How about adding this one ?
They're listed from South to North, for those who want to make a walking tour of it. That's mentioned on the page, but it's easy to miss. If I ever get enough visitors to that page I'll poll readers to assemble a ranked list like you were thinking of.Quote: JohnnyQ30) Bellagio chandelier & conservatory[/b

Whoops. Good catch, you're right, I removed it, thank you for pointing it out!Quote: JohnnyQ35) Mirage Dolphin "Habitat"

I was on the fence about this one, since while admission is free, if you want to actually see or do much of anything then you have to pay, but since you think it should be added, that moves me to the "Add" side of the fence. I added it.Quote: JohnnyQxx) Area 15

Yep, I completely missed that. Oooops. I just assumed it was a rank-ordered list.Quote: MichaelBluejayThey're listed from South to North, for those who want to make a walking tour of it. That's mentioned on the page, but it's easy to miss.
For Area 15, I think it is fair to point it out that it is NOT on the Strip.
Haha, there it is right on your site:
These are listed from South to North for those doing a self-guided walking or public bus tour.
Well, I have the sections "Strip", "Downtown", "Between the Strip and Downtown", and "Elsewhere", and it's in "Elsewhere".Quote: JohnnyQFor Area 15, I think it is fair to point it out that it is NOT on the Strip.
That page is entirely too long so it's easy to miss the details. When I have time I'll split it into two pages, Shows/Transportation and Spectacles/Photo ops.
Please argue passionately about which items should be added, removed, or reordered.
OK, easy. The BELLAGIO CONSERVATORY / LOBBY GLASS (since they are almost adjacent to each other) has to be in there. And good for Bellagio for having 2 items in the top 10.Quote: MichaelBluejayPlease argue passionately about which items should be added, removed, or reordered.
No one is going to get home from Vegas and entertain their friends with a story on how cool it was to see a fashion show at the Fashion Show Mall. So dump that one please.
At least for now, I removed the Big Elvis show rather than the Fashion Show. I think it's a curiosity—most people have never been able to see a fashion show. And it's free.
Since the list was getting unwieldy, I split the top ten list onto its own page.
The Pyramid, the Castle, and the NYNY skyline are with-in about 1/2 mile of each other. Another mile further up the Strip and you have the Eiffel tower.
I could list 11 things even though it's a Top Ten list, giving readers a bonus. Or I could have Top Ten things on the Strip, and Top Ten things downtown. Hmm...
BTW, I was able to find the pic I took of the conservatory over a decade ago, to grace the page. I actually liked it better than any of the stock photos I found.
I did write to a photographer whose pic of the glass ceiling I liked, inquiring about licensing it. If that's a no-go then I have a backup photo I plan to buy.
I hope that's a public domain photo (i.e., that you're not violating copyright).
That is a photo I took, so I think I am OK copywrite-wise ! I agree that it is not a great picture.
Whoops, now that I'm embarrassed that I dissed it. Sorry. It's certainly not bad, but there are better. Kind of like how Pete Best wasn't a bad drummer, Ringo was just "magic", as Paul McCartney put it. Here's the one I'd like to use.Quote: JohnnyQThat is a photo I took, so I think I am OK copywrite-wise ! I agree that it is not a great picture.

I think the point was Victorville is not remotely close to “just outside LA.” It’s the same thing as putting it in Barstow.
Thanks so much for letting me know! I fixed it.Quote: LoquaciousMoFWAnother random error. The link for the loop bus #67 on https://easy.vegas/do/free might need to be [fixed]...
My web software breaks links if I copy them from one page to the next, and I sometimes forget to check the links after I upload. I just did a search and found about ten pages with the exact same kind of problem, I just fixed all of them.
The list is now up to 71 items.
A single page listing the Best Of for various categories.
It's a work in progress, but I've got something for all of the strip casinos, and some of the downtown casinos.

Nice article! Fast and fun facts. I'd include the one fact about Tropicana in the New York New York section, also.
The reason I mentioned room sizes in Tropicana and not NYNY was that I was really struggling to find unique things about Tropicana, unlike NYNY. But since you think it's a good idea to mention it under NYNY, your command is my wish, I added it.
This first run is mostly just stuff I could think of off the top of my head. One I start digging I'll find even more.
