In Las Vegas high income tip earning jobs are one of the reasons the education system here is rated so low. So many kids are dropping out of high school because the tip earning jobs pay so much and don't require a HS diploma.

A 17 year old kid can easily get a job earning $40k-$50k valet parking cars in Las Vegas. If he stays in the business he will be making $60k-$70k in 10 years. I know, I have a step son in that position.

I also think there are many other reasons the education system there is rated so low, but under the new rules, I'll pretty much stop at this point.

Schools in Henderson are above average in everything but graduation rate. It's keeping them in school when recruiters are offering kids crazy money that is challenging.

One of my neighbors does something for the Clark County school system. We were talking one day and he told me about the drop out problem in Henderson. Between the boys leaving for casinos and girls leaving to dance.....
Contrast that with Bisbee where I have sixty plus applications for four part time jobs.

What do make HS dropouts do for casinos? Leaving for casinos? Am I missing something? What are they doing? I'm confused.

Ughhhhh...I apologize. I had a major reading comprehension fail. I read it as you suggested you should tip them based on what they actually make, not what you THINK they should make. So ignore the rest of my post other than the Linq, Harrah's, Casino Royale thing, which you already fixed.

Thank you, and no problem, I'm glad we could clear that up. BTW, you might not have seen my separate Tipping Guide page, where I say, "I'm a bit of a communist when I tip. If I see that a dealer is making $30/hr. from other people overtipping, I might not tip at all, even if it's at the Bellagio and I'm betting black. But at a low-end casino like the El Cortez where dealers make as little as $88 a day, I might tip twice what I normally do even if I'm betting red. A typical dealer at the El Cortez needs my $10/hr. more than a typical dealer at the Bellagio needs my $5/hr."

Perhaps the average age for a high school graduate in Las Vegas is 22 and they drop out at 21 to get those wonderful Casino jobs. 😁

REALLY?

I have no idea if this is true or not but I would be willing to bet one has to be at least 18. I can't even imagine an insurance company allowing this. That sounds like lawsuit City if something bad were to happen.

I am not saying that they are dropping out to go directly to the casinos. The point is they know they don't need a diploma to make a middle class living in Las Vegas.
Living longer does not always infer +EV

There are hundreds of jobs in casinos one needs to be 18 to work. Most jobs on the casino floor require you to be 21, but plenty of support jobs require you to be 18. I've met high school kids that work in the Cosmo warehouse off of Polaris.

Amazed communism could still be brought up under the new “rule”.

Zero shock at all in who brought it up.
