Slice up some potatoes and bake 20 min
Cook a steak and set it aside to rest
Slice up an onion and bell pepper and cook
Slice the cook steak and throw in with cooked bell pepper and onion
Fill bread roll with whats in the pan, throw some cheese on top and bake 5 min
but my grocery store deli was advertising London Broil so I decided to try it
I was surprised at how good it is
much better than their deli roast beef
I heated it up a little in the microwave
hard to beat for something quick excluding the fast food joints

it's much better than their white rice IMO - it's much more substantial
it takes much longer to cook - about 1.5 hours in my rice cooker
I think it taking so long is the reason you don't see it in Asian restaurants
I can it eat it with nothing else, just a little soy sauce and enjoy it
can't do that with white rice - I need something else with it

I did something by accident when I
was 23 that has paid dividends
later in life. I had a traumatic incident
with sugar that made me quit it forever.
I've eaten nothing that has sugar as
less than the 5th ingredient in 46
years. No cake, pop, gum, candy,
nada. I'm a zealot when it come to
avoiding sugar, or any of it's cousins.
Sugar has no nutritional value whatever,
all it causes is harm to the body. So
I did myself a huge favor without even
knowing it at the time.

carb for 3 months and at a college
seminar I ate 4 sugar coated donuts
in 2 minutes and passed out from
my pancreas pouring so much insulin

emergency room.

forever. Little did I know what a good
thing that was, and how bad sugar is
for you.

I think we went over this before and made a huge list of food no one has heard of outside the Northeast.
- Tastykakes
- Water Ice
- Pork Roll (aka Taylor Ham)
- Peanut Chews
- Herr’s potato chips
- Stromboli
- Porchetta
- Snapper Soup
- Scrapple
- Whoopie Pie
- Tomato Pie
- Irish Potato Candy
- Shoe Fly Pie

we did. maybe pierogies were on the list but I didnt think they were only around here. Isn't it weird that some of the regional foods are regional since they came from europe anyways. No Europeans in the rest of the country?

I believe pierogies are Polish and most of the Polish communities are in the east part of the country. The west is a lot more diversified than the east. Very few areas where there is an Irish area, Italian area, German area, etc. Las Vegas area is about 2.5 million people and I can't think of a single area like that other than Chinatown and that is really just a restaurant area not an ethnic community,

Ah, there's your problem, a diet! Some of my best/worst moments have included:
*Drinking a two liter of pop in an hour
*Averaging six pops a day in the most severe points in an intense caffeine addiction
*Pizza or buffalo wings for all three meals of the day.
*Intentionally melting ice cream into a soup and drinking it down
*Chugging french vanilla creamer
I've enjoyed mostly good health so far and realize that I'll probably get hit with diabetes like a truck at some point later in life, but it's been real nice till now.
Over the weekend I bought Almond flour. I made crab cakes and tuna patties tonight. They were both really good and 1.5 carbs each. Ended up eating 3, plus green beans, and a salad. Not a bad dinner for 8 carbs.
Has anyone use almond flour exclusively? I have been looking at some receipes to experiment.

Been on keto for 2 years this month.
Not a single cheat in 2 years. I kicked
almond flour a year ago, too easy to
over eat, too many carbs. If I want
bread I use cauli rice, spinach and
eggs.
Tonight I had roasted spare ribs with
roasted cauli, brussels sprouts and
radishes. For lunch every day I have
a can of sardines and an avocado.
Huge benefits from both. Total carbs
always under 20g a day.
To put that in perspective, 2 slices of
bread, white or whole wheat, have about
30 grams of carb. Average American
eats 250-300g of carb a day.

Tough to cheat when there's nothing
in the house to cheat with. I never got
the point of cheating, it's lose/lose and
makes no sense. Love sardines, eat 365
cans a year. Walmart has a big selection
and runs out of some of them, they're
so popular.
"Sardines are the No. 1 superfood for guys... Cold-water oily fish such as sardines are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. Indeed, the silver-scaled fish in a can are dense with nutrients."

What is the mercury content and have you had that level checked recently? Probably ok being that sardines are so small. Being lazy and don't want to do the research. Figured you might know.

Fish are high in merc because they
eat other fish who ate other fish.
Sardines are plant eaters, no mercury.
Sardines are at the bottom of the aquatic food chain, feeding solely on plankton. As a result, they do not concentrate heavy metals like mercury and other contaminants found in most fish. .
What’s now wrong with carbs? You should eat lots of healthy ones every day...beans, bananas, brown rice/pasta/bread etc.Quote: EvenBobTotal carbs

The Walmart guy probably eats junk food almost exclusively and gets no exercise. 20 years ago his problem would almost certainly have been blamed on “too many grams of fat”. Currently it’s blamed on “too many grams of carbs”. In the USA there is a “food enemy” at all times, which is usually proven to be complete BS 10 to 20 years later. Sort of like religion, people need something to believe in no matter how ridiculous.

My wife only uses Almond flour. She makes a pizza with it that I will eat. The crust doesn't get crispy but the flavor is okay.

They aren't popular in NY, but available in some Polish restaurants and some Jewish delis. It's a cross between a ravioli and a kinish., but not as good as either.

They laughed and mocked and
ridiculed Dr Atkin's in the late 60's
for his low carb diet. He was
insane, other doctors said. Who's
laughing now.
Reminds me of the hospital doc
in the mid 1800's that came up
with the idea of surgeons washing
their hands between surgeries
to cut down on infections. He
was practically drummed out of
the medical profession. 20 years
later washing hands and sterilizing
equipment was mandatory.

I disagree. I think New Yorker's are always biased by the food they grew up on. I would rank them Pierogie, Ravioli, then Knish.

This is America, so you are entitled to your opinion. Knishes stand alone, but a ravioli is really just a delivery device for the sauce. I was disappointed with the pierogis when I had them.

Perogies are very popular in Pennsylvania.
They are polish, but are served at pretty much any I.talian restaurants or any “mom and pop” that does takeout. I think I’ve even seen Chinese restaurants put them on the menu.

In small quantities. Famine and starvation
was always around the corner, not abundance.
The bane of modern society is sugar and
carb loaded processed food. That's what
has exploded in the last 30 years. Processed
food makes up the entire diet of some
people. I eat no processed food, none.
I even make my own mayonnaise.
Olive oil is processed but it only has one
ingredient, olive oil.
Any facts to support this nonsense?
