Garfield was originally named "Jon the cat". Brilliant move to rename him. Did Garfield go to Ball State university? Why else would anyone live in Muncie Indiana?

My wife started collecting Garfield figurines in the mid-80s when she opened the Antique Mall. By 2010 she had a couple hundred of them. She ended up selling them for thousands of dollars on eBay. Some of them were worth hundreds of dollars apiece. She got $150 for this Abe Lincoln Garfield. I'll bet she had 300 of them all together.

I have never really collected anything but I do think Garfield is cute. I see the Abe Lincoln can now be had for between $50 and $60 online.
what would be you 3 favorite comic strips? Love the new picture by the wayQuote: WizardThe Family Circus was probably my least favorite comic strip. No, Garfield was worse. How many times did the dad ask Billy for a hammer and Billy wandered all over the neighborhood before getting it? Or "not me" broke something. The only redeeming feature was every woman had huge breasts, especially the mom.

Reminds me of the Little League pitchers who get a line drive in the chest and die. Looks like the runner (85 for Bengals) put his head down before the tackle, driving it right into Hamlin's chest. Hamlin stood up right after the tackle, shuffled a couple of steps, then went straight down like a tree. Totally legal play.
He's in the hospital, intubated, and in critical condition. But he's alive, hopefully for a good long time.
Looking at this, I'm surprised these 'reverse-CPR' events don't happen more often.
Quote: BillHasRetiredAlmost had a celebrity death on live TV: Damar Hamlin, safety for the Buffalo Bills, collapsed on the field, received CPR, and was carted off after about 10 minutes. He's in the hospital and as of 10pm EST, the game is still suspended with 5+ minutes left in the first quarter.

When I see a young guy go down like that, and it's not an obvious concussion, I usually expect not a great outcome. But they got to him about as fast as possible.
Sources say he has died. Those same sources have not confirmed if he came back to life.
The gov't will be setting up outposts around the hospital in case of crowd control.

There's a site called Dysfunctional Family Circus where people post their own original warped versions of the comic strip. This cartoon comes from that site. I hope I don't get suspended, but here's another one from that site:
If this is objectionable, I'll take it down.

Well the current rating system didn't start until 1968.
It was pretty strict as well. Midnight Cowboy which I don't believe has a single frame of nudity was rated X because they discussed homosexuality.
Today you have SpongeBob SquarePants getting kissed by his best friend the starfish in drag. By 1968 standards that's XXX porn.

For those who do not know, which is most all of you, he was the founder of 84 Lumber. Named for the town in which it was founded.
Per his obit he built the harness track that became Hollywood Casino at the Meadows (formerly just Meadows Casino.) He also built a casino on the Nemacolin resort, a 2000 acre resort with crazy things from a section of the Berlin Wall to a punch bowl from IIRC Teddy Roosevelt's WH. At said resort the guy built a memorial to himself that would remind one of the one George Jefferson built himself in an episode of "The Jeffersons."
One of his execs told me the guy never stopped thinking about business. Said he sent a couple guys to Dubai to see if opening a lumberyard there made sense. He would have been in his early 90s then. His exploits are such that you have to wonder if he made a deal with the devil to die on exactly his 100th B-Day.

She was 6 months or so older than me so seeing anything on her in the news had a weird parallel to my own life. She was rarely seen until age 17, when I saw here the first time she looked great and classy. Within a few years though she seemed to have gone nuts. Ended up one of those people famous for being famous and could just not settle herself down.
Robbie Knievel, the son of legendary daredevil Evel Knievel, died early Friday in Reno. He was 60. He fought a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Knievel joined the family daredevil business at the age of 8 when he started performing motorcycle tricks and stunts during the warm up act for his father's jumps. After Evel retired, Robbie became the star attraction and set many jump records (along with breaking many bones) during his career. He's most famous for successfully jumping the fountains at Caesars Palace in 1989, a stunt that almost killed two earlier daredevils (one being his father) who both failed at the attempt. Knievel's final jump was at the Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella in 2011.

IIRC when he jumped at Caesars he was not going to use a safety ramp but Evel demanded him to. They rarely talked but were both there for that jump. If not for said safety ramp he would have missed and been cut in half.

She died in the hospital but in her defense, she'd been sick for a long time and had a lot of things wrong with her. Her death had nothing to do with getting vaxed or not.

My understanding is that at 54 she was in terrible health and had a long history of bad drug abuse just like her daddy. It was not a shock to anybody who knew her that she died so young.

The link you have provided is predominately political, with anti-MAGA messages, cartoons of Donald Trump with a tiny male organ, etc. If we allow this link, then in the future members need only provide links to highly political twitter accounts as a way to sneak partisan political viewpoints onto this site.
I ask you to consider two options.
1) remove the link from the post, (or, give me permission to remove the link for you)
2) or, receive a 3-day suspension for political speech in violation of forum rules
