I'm not stupid, but for some reason I thought I was going to stay young forever. But that's stupid. Now, Peter Fonda, AND Dennis Hopper, gone. My childhood, definitely gone.
RIP Peter
I just watched Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry a few weeks ago

Do tell.

What part of the 'New Rule' don't you understand?
Quote: WizardAfter some discussion, site ownership and management have decided to make a new rule forbidding non-gambling and non-Vegas topics, especially those concerning politics, religion, and sexuality.

Life is a gamble
Death is the payout/reward
Quote: aceofspadesWell, since Peter Fonda has nothing to do with Vegas or gambling, I assume the "New Rule" is not being enforced in this thread and, as such:
The discussion had relented that non-political and non-divisive posts were not verbottten.
I get that was a peter fonda tweet but maybe u wanna think twice about posting it here

Why should I rethink that? This thread is discussing Peter Fonda's life - what he Tweeted was part of his life

His Tweet should not be divisive at all -- unless, of course, someone agrees with the proposition he makes therein

3 days. Should be longer for multiple rule-breaks, but I'm giving you a chance to catch up on rule changes.
Not sure what your point was in posting this, AOS. You had to have known better. Quoting someone else is no excuse for the content.

I think it was Stephen Kings The Long Walk where one of the contestants kept deliberately breaking the rules just to see how far he could safely push it.

I have to wonder what would have resulted had this been a discussion about Kathy Griffin. I can only imagine that the pic of her with (name redacted in order to comply with Ministry censorship) bleeding head in her hand. There is just so much controversial material provided by these cretins in Hollywood. Kind of hard to discuss them at all. Thread should be closed in order to maintain safespace standards.
Hopefully the politards can contain themselves. It might even be beneficial to be forced to act like a normal person.
Otherwise I can see the wiz going with the letter of the law.

Can we all just get along by telling fictional stories about the death of cars and AP?

It's a term carried over from 2+2, where they implemented a similar policy.
They do have subforums just for politarding, but it is mostly contained to those.
No more off-topic from me. I will try. Cut me slack this one time and I will improve my habits here.
thanks

.Quote: bobbartopOk, look, I guess I screwed up with the New Rule. I seem to be a screw up. But Peter Fonda's death meant something different to me. Frankly, I forgot the recent stuff he said, which wasn't very nice. And I know he was political, and I know who his sister was. I'm sorry for screwing up the Forum. But try to understand. Many of you are younger than I am. To me, this meant the guy who did Easy Rider was dead. That's one more nail in MY coffin. If you weren't there, in 1969, you won't understand. Easy Rider was huge back then. A real classic, that had so much play in Americana. There was real meaning to Easy Rider. And this was the beginning of "counter culture", for good or bad. It was a GREAT movie. Maybe it means something different to everyone. Maybe if it came out in 2019 it might not have been so significant. But 1969 was the TIMES. The War. Civil Unrest. Like I said earlier, Counter Culture. And if you want to see a very young Jack Nicholson, here ya go. It meant a lot to me, even that I'm now grown and lean conservative. The news stunned me. Ok?

There was nothing wrong with the initial post.
It's possible to discuss an actor without getting into their personal political opinions, just as much as without discussing their favorite sports team or their eating habits.
That's actually what the vast majority of people do.

I probably would have posted the same info. There is more too. He was a POS in his later years.
His post was a screen shot from the man himself. Sometimes real life is tough to see. If the site is now allowing of topic already, this is what will happen. I'll take the 3 days for him.

You must have missed the revision of the rule that was actually posted in the rules thread, since what you quoted isn't current.
Quote: Rule 19Controversial Speech: In an effort to keep the focus of the forum on gambling, Vegas, and math, comments of a political, racial, religious, sexual, or otherwise controversial nature are not allowed. We recommend taking such discussion elsewhere (Added 8/13/19).

As for Peter Fonda, some people get mean. Actually, I think a lot of people get mean.

Oh man. Now evenbob will probably struggle to figure out what he’s supposed to say for a little bit without getting his daily cues. He’ll overcome though.

Considering the way the Thought Police operate here, I'm surprised this post, in and of itself, the single word "Rush", does not qualify for a suspension.
I'm telling you - the "grownups" are out of town. And when they return, boy are they gonna get after all of you!
Is it because people can't tell them apart?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KQV
KQV (1410 kHz) is a non-commercial AM radio station in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and covering the Greater Pittsburgh Region. Owned by Broadcast Educational Communications, the station simulcasts FM 88.1 WKGO in Murrysville and airs an easy listening radio format. KQV is one of the oldest radio stations in North America.
The studios and transmitter are located on Lincoln Highway in North Versailles Township.[2] KQV is powered at 5,000 watts by day. But to avoid interfering with other stations on 1410 AM, it reduces power at night to 75 watts. It uses a non-directional antenna at all times.
Historically, KQV is recognized as one of the oldest radio stations in North America. Due to a complicated early history, the exact date of its founding has been variously stated as either November 19, 1919 (as an experimental station), in the fall of 1921, or on January 9, 1922, the latter officially recognized by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Haven't listened to Rush in 15
years. Once in awhile I read
some transcripts from his
show online, the less boring
stuff. But not very often. Rush
lost me when he got addicted to
oxy, such a typical poor guy finds
fame move.

It was about severe back pain, not recreation.

Ever listen to a 3 hour radio

a full hour of commercials
and local news. I haven't had
time like that to waste in 15
years.

People that listen to talk radio are either at the office with it on or in their vehicle for long stretches. It is why Rush was popular with people with these kinds of jobs.
I had been wondering who will fill the slot. Nobody will fill it all, it will probably fragment. But I do wonder if they will have some of the much older stuff. Though I do not see a huge market for the re-runs. Maybe a few weeks, but time must move on.
