Hopefully Hantavirus doesn't become the new COVID/Corona virus. COVID/Corona virus started in just ONE place and then went global VERY quickly. Hopefully Hantavirus doesn't rapidly get out of control like COVID/Corona Virus did.

Ted Turner was immortalized in a baseball rule. As owner of the Atlanta Braves, he hired himself as manager and spent one game in uniform as the manager of the Braves, prompting MLB to immediately enact a rule where the owner cannot be the manager.

Hantavirus is far more deadly than Covid (most patients with hantavirus pulmonary syndrome die within two days unless they are treated) but it is much less transmissible. It has been believed that it is not transmitted person to person. It is spread by contact with urine, feces or saliva of a rodent carrying the virus. The deer mouse is the primary concern in North America.
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

Turner was a wizard at creating attention. He shifted the start times of his TV shows by 5 minutes so they would stand out in TV listings. He signed a free-agent ballplayer to a contract that paid him extra to wear #17 and offered him more money to legally change his name to Channel.
In the early 80s, he recognized the potential of televised wrestling and quietly amassed several regional promoters. Eventually, he had ten hours of wrestling in prime time on his networks. He produced the movie Gettysburg after the major studios passed on it.

A bunch of other things would have to happen before Hantavirus could become a COVID-like threat. None of them is pretty.

CNN is still around? I thought it died after they finally took it out of the airports. Turner probably had an original good idea but what it morphed into was not good.

When I was a PCO they were always on us to be careful about it with rodents. My last day in the biz one of my best techs mentioned it in passing while servicing a college. Somebody with too much time on their hands researched it and within an hour they were evacuating.
Lucky for me I got fired and did not have to deal with it!
