Good one. For the benefit of others -- What can you tell us about these 4.7% CNF fees, that restaurants are adding on our bills?
and the loss rebates that new player's are offered that come with undisclosed, vague, changeable, and generally undesirable conditionsQuote: WizardNote to myself -- Mention "free play" scams for signing up for a player card.
But I think one of the worst thing casinos do is to allow a player to bet an amount that will incur short-pay due to an imposed payout maximum - Mission calls these "loss rebates for the casino". At least they could advise players what the max bet would be that does not get clipped.
I have to admit that's a new one to me. I live a sheltered life I guess.Quote: Wizard"Free" girls to your room.

Haven't you seen these roving billboards all over the Strip?
I somehow converted the topic from "Vegas scams" to "casino scams" in my mind ~ and was wondering if casinos really were capable of making the offer of girls sent to your room. What a comp! [Well, there has been the suggestion that anything can be arranged for a big enough whale]Quote: WizardHaven't you seen these roving billboards all over the Strip?

I'm going to try to keep the show focused on non-gambling scams.
Casino hosts are not supposed to offer anything illegal as a comp. However, it is Vegas and about some things there is a "don't ask - don't tell" policy.

Although I am sure it has happened, I have never heard of a host supplying a prostitute. I think they just recommend that you talk to the Bell Desk for that.

The Bell Desk would have nothing to do with arranging that.

As public figures (trying to keep a straight face as I say that), Heather and I have chosen to respect the order and cancel live streams effective today and until the state of emergency is lifted. I have thought about doing them by myself, as Heather often does her show, but I hate sitting there in an empty room talking to myself.
I apologize to my audience.
The video will look like this test video.

I think there will be a way to have audience participation, but I don't know how that will work at this point. We may just do this one the two of us without an audience and post it after we're done. Heather is more of the technology expert.
As we all work from home, there have been a few Zoom meetings...

There is another socially-distant live stream scheduled at the usual time for this Thursday. It will be an AMA so I welcome all questions.
Gambling scams: IE creators (people who trick ploppies into playing and loading up UX and other build a bonus games and then get them to leave so they can scoop up the value themselves)Quote: WizardAs a reminder, we will have another Live Stream this Thursday. This will be a rare one with a topic, which shall be Vegas Scams. I welcome all ideas. I'll get it started with the following:
Resort fees
Time share pitches
Night clubs
Night club "VIP" passes.
Strip clubs
Taxis
Low-budget shows
Paid parking
Street photo characters
"Free" CD people
Three card Monty
"Free" girls to your room.
Granted not all of these are 100% scams. For example, strip clubs are not all bad, but EVERYTHING in them is way overpriced, especially the girls. One should have some knowledge about what to expect before going.
I welcome ALL other ideas. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot.
Baccarat scammers who claim they allays win at baccarat with the intentions of later charging you upfront for lessons or some variation of that. They do it on other games as well, but for some reason Baccarat seems the most popular.

1) What fair bets (100% Return To Player) or very close to (+- 0.05%) in online casinos do you know that are currently easily available? One that I am aware of is 100x Odds on Craps and 2.75% commission on Banker on 5Dimes Bonus Casino on certain days.
2A) Do you know how many casinos in the US and abroad offer 20x and 100x odds on Craps, and who they are? It would be nice to have a list on WizardOfVegas!
2B) What is the actual monthly house edge on Craps? Are Craps players worse than Blackjack players?
3) Do you know of a casino that only charge a commission, e.g. 1%, for connecting people wishing to place a bet? Such a casino would never have a bad month as their Actual RTP would always be 99%. Do you think they would still be a casino? They wouldn't bet at all, only facilitate.

Will COVID-19 have permanent effects on the gaming industry?
I meant rest of the US and abroad. For example, Horseshoe Hammond in Chicago, Rivers Casino, Des Plaines and Grand Victoria, Elgin all offer 100x odds. There is no list of this kind, as far as I know. In Europe, it's pretty bleak. I can only play with 2x (ouch!). Ironically, Gamesys offers 3-4-5x which means I have better Craps online than in casino.
Apart from craps, why do you think dice games do so poorly in US casinos? Is there a dice game you've seen that you wish would become a Vegas standard?
RE: Temperature Sensing.
just as the ears have microbodies that are instantly sensitive to gravity, the brain's blood supply has two iron-based microbodies that are immediately sensitive to temperature changes. ALL viruses love iron, particularly the current threat, so any disruption in forehead temperature is a good indicator. Arm temperature would be useless.
Funny that she didn't know the answer to her quark trivia and it would really have been impressive if she had asked if you knew the different 'flavors' ! I get the feeling that in elementary school science classes today, assuming there are such things*, the teachers like to teach about quarks as there is evidence it has evolved into a fun thing with cartoon drawings. This explains the popularity of quarks with those people out there who know a bit about them but have not otherwise taken many science courses ~ that had been quite a mystery to me and I have to thank you too for getting me to look into it.
*in my elementary school days there were no science courses, they had a subject called "health" they taught. This I think changed after the Sputnik shock. Slowly though, and it was 7th grade before I got any science courses. So I don't know, but suspect "science" is taught now explaining this development about flavors in quarks, along with the cartoon characters and all.
