When playing table games, will I be rated the same playing by myself as I would playing with a full table?

Your rating is based on average bet and time played. The amount of players at the table does not directly affect your rating. It does indirectly affect your rating and is discussed very well in the book Comp City.

The table tracking systems that I have worked on definitely had a component for "Speed of game". the faster the game the quicker comps would be earned.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

So you're saying Max's system for playing the slowest possible has become outdated at some casinos because they are able to take into account the hands per hour?

Yes, if they are dilligent about tracking it. My experience is most pit bosses just enter the speed of the game when they create the player tracking entry. I don't know if they update it or not over time.

A typical entry would be game, speed, and average bet. (eg, Blackjack, average speed, $50 average bet).

No different opinion. I believe DRich knows what he's talking about and I am happy he educated me on the matter. Seems like if the casino is entering average speed then jumping into a heads up game during primetime knowing your table will become crowded soon would be ideal to maximize that variable of the rating.

My next question would be, why wouldn't the software track the speed of the game. Once the player info is entered everything should be automatic. If a player leaves or is added the software should be able to compensate for that and adjust the comps/rating accordingly.

The software is not connected in any way to the table. The software requires the pit staff to do all of the data entry. People are inherently lazy and do as little as possible so the comp rating is only as good as the staff entering it.

In theory it could be hooked up to the camera system but as far as I know no one is doing that.

I know it's not physically connected but doesn't it track a player by what table they're on? If there are two players on a table and another one comes, the pit ads the player and now the software knows there are three players and can adjust accordingly. The same if one leaves. Doesn't seem like it would be to hard these days.

You are correct assuming all of the players are playing rated.

Well, the Wiz says you're rated the same no matter the number of players. Any current pit bosses on this site that would know for sure?

I know for sure that most systems include the speed of play, unless the pit isn't entering it that would definitely affect the rating.

Have you kept up with how quantum computing works? See the quote, but how is this different from ordinary probability math, which you of course know well?

Quote: from 'people also ask' at google

What is quantum computing and how does it work?
Quantum computers perform calculations based on the probability of an object's state before it is measured - instead of just 1s or 0s - which means they have the potential to process exponentially more data compared to classical computers.

the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!”   She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder

Here’s some more

-Assuming Vegas survives the corona and always needs to up its game to keep people coming to gamble, do you think a zeppelin style floating casino above the city would bring the gamblers? (On non-windy days)

- Would you pose naked for a women’s magazine? ...for a men’s magazine? ...or for gambling magazine? ....to win a bet?

- Do you think you could take the guy on CNN who also calls himself “The Wizard of Odds” in some sort of odds calculating contest or a 3 round boxing match?

- Have you ever seen a 52 standard size deck of cards made out of gold? What unusual decks, if any, have you seen?

"For with much wisdom comes much sorrow." -- Ecclesiastes 1:18 (NIV)

What is your opinion about the success of casinos re-opening?

* have they shown that they can do this safely ?

* have they opened profitably?

How do you feel about what the Welcome to Las Vegas sign has become? I feel like it used to be a lone beacon of mid-century modern Vegas style, and now it has become another cheesy tourist trap. Do you concur?

The national debt will soon pass 30 trillion dollars. In the distant future trillions will be eclipsed by quadrillions. People just might hear the debt is 'half a quadrilllion' sooner than we like to think. But I am thinking it won't be in my lifetime unless inflation goes crazy. Do you think for people being born today, that when they will grow up, they will have to get used to hearing all about quadrillions of dollars?

Videos
Mentioned in this episode are underwater cemeteries. Your cremated remains are mixed in cement and shaped by a mold into (for example) a hollow sphere with holes for fish to swim in and out of. The molds are then submerged to form a man-made reef. The one the wizard mentions, however, is probably Neptune's Reef whose design is inspired by Atlantis. Here, the remains are molded into animal shapes (like sea shells, fish and sea turtles) and attached to the submerged structure...

Since it's the Halloween season and we're already flirting with submechanophobia, also mentioned is Nelson's Landing near Vegas. In an earlier livestream, it was revealed that the bay has an underwater statue of a giant octopus...

You may have felt my question about quadrillions in debt was too political, which I didn't intend. Or you may have felt I should just figure it out myself LOL

So I did, using a compound interest calculator, which can show the growth of something at a certain sustained percentage of growth, https://www.thecalculatorsite.com/finance/calculators/compoundinterestcalculator.php

This month the US national debt hit 27 trillion dollars. I took that and applied various percentages, choosing compounding once a year [hopefully that's correct] and found that the number 27 increases to around 500 at an increase of 6% per year for 50 years. So for someone born this year, by the time they are 50, the debt easily will be referred to by some people as "half a quadrillion dollars"

6% per year seems perhaps low, see chart at below link. 7.5% would indeed send it to over a quadrillion!

As long as this is on my mind, I did some math.

The national debt was 5.656 trillion in 1999 and 22.719 trillion in 2019. That is a rate of growth of 7.2% per year.

Assuming the same rate of increase, the national debt will reach one quadrillion dollars in 54.4 years from 2019, or the year 2073*.

I might add that in the debate yesterday Trump said Biden's "green new deal" would cost 100 trillion. I would have said "One-tenth of a quadrillion dollars." I think we will start to hear the Q word in speaking of money pretty soon.

Please note I say all this in a mathematical sense as opposed to making politically charged statements.

I'll address this on the next show.

* Corrected

I'm guessing you have a typo saying that it will happen in 20 years at that rate...

You're right. I omitted a zero. I just amended the OP to say we'll reach a 1Q debt in 2073.

Thank you for the correction.

Bless me Father Michael, for I have sinned. It was the 2019 Halloween episode since my last confession. Here are my sins...

  • I've utilized betting systems while playing baccarat.
  • I blew through $200 in about 3 seconds while playing slots at McCarran airport.
  • I've broken the 9th Commandment by playing the Trips side bet in Ultimate Texas Hold'em, the Pair Plus side bet in Three Card Poker when the flush payed only 3 to 1 and, worst of all, bet on "Any 7" while shooting craps.
  • Finally, I wanted to play Pai Gow Poker, and there was an empty chair at the table, but the man I'd be adjacent to looked like a smelly Jabba the Hut and the mere thought of gambling next to him for several hours sickened me to the point that I retreated to the live Keno lounge and started drinking and buying $20 quick picks.

For these and all sins of my past life, I am truly sorry.

Question:

Vegas is currently moving away from the heavily themed resort concepts of circus tents, castles, Venitian canals, pyramids etc.

Instead, it now seems to be embracing a sleek, ultra modern look of no particular make or model.

Considering how much competition there is these days for the public's gambling and entertainment dollars, do you think this is the right direction for Sin City to be taking?
