Virginia will soon have casinos* and it's a state many people thought would never have them. What states do you think will continue to 'hold out' for at least a few decades, or will there be any?

You’ve remarked that it’s really hard to come up with a successful new table game.

Are there any games you’ve seen that you thought would be huge hits but they failed?

In your most recent CE video you examine a poker game utilizing a deck with the 2s, 3s, 4s and 5s removed. What are your thoughts on using such a deck? Do you find it interesting? Gimmicky? Confusing to players?

What are your and Heather's favorite types of strange phenomena (such as ghosts, ESP, space aliens, bigfoot etc)? Note: You need not actually believe in the phenomena.

If there are going to be casinos in Virginia, it will be in up to 5 particular places only for now that have to be OK'd by local referendum. The state wants the tax money but these 5 places are generally depressed economically for various reasons compared to the rest of the state.

The advocates will say the casinos will help the localities economically by providing jobs etc.

Those against it will say gambling addiction and other problems will make things worse instead of better.

How do you come down on all this?

You say you don't have any good casino stories, but would you please tell us about the time you were gambling on a cruise ship and got googled by a suspicious casino manager? It's an amusing tale.

Any advice for players in a cruise ship casino?

Not a gambling question, but a game show one...

Wheel of Fortune added the "$1 Million wedge" to the wheel in 2008. My question is, does having this wedge on the wheel benefit the contestants in terms of EV?

This was actually the subject of my first post here back in 2014. I was thinking it would be a good Ask The Wizard question for the WoO site, but at the time, the WoO directed me to ask it in the WoV forum.

I initially got some replies, but didn't get any definitive answers. I ended up taking a shot at answering my own question on the last post in that thread, and came to the conclusion that the addition of the $1 Million wedge was decidedly -EV for the contestants. However, looking back at my work, I can see one error, as well as several WAG assumptions.

If my conclusion is indeed correct, I think that's pretty crummy of Wheel to add a feature that hurts the contestants' earning potential, yet tout it as something desirable. That seems like the MO of shady casinos, not legit game shows.

I noticed looking at your WoO site, "oscar's grind" compared to the Labouchere system, in Bacc the Grind has a 99.46% chance of working with 250 units, while the Labo system has a 99.45% chance with 2500 units, a pretty big difference.

So, two questions,

* Upon reflection I guess it is not correct to think of the 99.45 or 99.46% to be the same thing as "return" , but can you go into that, as in: why not? If n is the number of trials, does the chance of a successful session and 'return' tend to converge as n increases? [edited]

* do you ever consider one system better than another? It kind of seems like you can say that here with these two.

You might see a darkside Craps player taking down his darkside line bet when the bet travels to the 6 or 8. For a small consideration, he might allow you to take over the bet for yourself instead of removing it.  You're making a Mark out of him in a way, so are you being unethical?

I would guess over 99% of all gamblers are avoiding claiming all of their wins on taxes.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Can you comment on current IRS laws regarding reporting gambling winnings for the recreational gambler? They seem very unfair if you take the standard deduction. Has there been any push to change them to be more fair?

I would think that this would only apply to part-time AP's. Don't full-time AP's report their profit (wins minus losses and expenses) as self-employment income?

Question for Heather,

Whoa! throwing some hate Boo Boo Bear's way? Must be a story there ... he looks like a mean boss you had once maybe?

sorry, due for some teasing on this for sure though

If we’re talking about food, I’ll resubmit my question that didn’t get answered:

If you had to choose one restaurant in Las Vegas to bring out-of-town guests (and they’re not picky about the kind of food, dietary restrictions, classiness, etc) which one would it be?

Which now defunct Vegas attractions or venues do you wish you had checked out while you still had the chance?

You've probably made the drive between Vegas and LA more than 100 times. What is the fastest speed you've ever hit while racing across the big empty?

I am afraid something came up and I can't do the live stream tomorrow. The next one is scheduled for next Thursday at the usual time.

My apologies for the late notice.

When playing table games, will I be rated the same playing by myself as I would playing with a full table?
