Believe it’s getting pushed to Sunday.Quote: billryanHave they canceled the Thursday night Game yet ?
Quote: unJonI’d like to understand the official explanation for the first question also.
I think it was because the Broncos QB's didn't follow protocol so the league is punishing them because they intentionally didn't wear there masks in the meetings. I agree with the decision if it was the players fault.
Quote: billryanSo you punish the teams chasing the Saints for something the Ravens did? Seems about right for the circus this season is
What’s the connection between Broncos QBs and the Ravens?
So today the NFL fines the Saints $500,000 and strips them of a seventh-round draft pick for their second major violation of league protocols but gives them a walkover win. I'll take that trade every day.
rookie wideout Kendall Hinton - promoted from the practice squad - was the Broncos QB
he hasn't played at QB since his sophomore year at Wake Forest
throwing he was one of 9 - netting 12 yards in the air - the Broncos had 112 yards total offense - more turnovers - 3 - than completions
''Quote: billryanSteeler game originally scheduled for Thursday now is on for Tuesday. Why couldn't they give the Broncos a few extra days?
Meanwhile, my New York Football Giants are in First Place.
Which is the bigger joke?
Did that line fall from 14.5 to 10 overnight or did I remember it bad from yesterday?

Latter
RG3 has done almost nothing positive since his very first few games with Wash in 2016
I'm expecting that he will have a poor game

The Eagles have played well on National Sunday and Monday night games this year. Well, not really "well" but they have won all 3 games. Of course they were against 3 teams with losing records, 49ers, Cowboys and Giants, so...
Seattle has lost 2 straight road games, and not covered in 3 straight road games, giving up a lot of points in each game, although conversely those games were against pretty good teams, Bills, Rams, and Cardinals.
Eagles need this game to retain first place in a division that 6 wins will make the playoffs. I never like to bet a team "needing" a game, because it means they have played poorly to be in that situation.
Seattle is the better team obviously.
That said, I'm taking the Eagles (hopefully +7, but I will take 6.5). We will see if my gut is telling me the truth or if it is just indigestion. lol.

I agree with that sentiment. Most people don't realize that when a teams needs to win it is because they usually haven't won games.
Quote: lilredroosterVanderbilt football got all kinds of publicity because of their female kicker Sarah Fuller - it's a first
but her kickoff landed on the 38 yard line and got downed at the 35 - 𝐰𝐚𝐲, 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐩𝐚𝐫
I have no problem with a woman playing football if they are competitive
if not, that is not right, to me
is this some kind of public relations stunt by Vanderbilt designed to get them more $$$$ due to media attention?
So reading about this today, it was called to be a squib kick without a return so the distance not a big deal, and she was asked to try out because several of their specialists were out for COVID protocol. So it appears she perhaps earned the opportunity with other specialists out. She’s the goalkeeper for the soccer team.
Now the joke is that she was named SEC special teams player of the week....for doing one squib kick....come on.

yeah, but I'm wondering if they had her do a squib kick because they didn't want to show that she couldn't kick the distance that males can
if I'm wrong I'll admit it - but I'm suspicious
With such an acute need, maybe they were limited to athletes on a current roster. I'm sure if they found a walk-on, he would at least need to clear a medical screening before he could step onto the field. (Hell, I needed to get a physical just to compete on my high school bowling team!) Maybe the timing of the situation could not allow for that?Quote: mcallister3200So reading about this today, it was called to be a squib kick without a return so the distance not a big deal, and she was asked to try out because several of their specialists were out for COVID protocol. At any rate, if she was their best option, then more power to her! If this was some publicity stunt, then shame on Vandy!
The other joke is that Vandy is a "Power 5" school. They would be lucky to be a middling "Group of 5" school as far as football is concerned.Quote:Now the joke is that she was named SEC special teams player of the week....for doing one squib kick....come on.
And who squibs the kick to start the 2nd half???

I'm guessing that the coach thought she was the best bullet he had. As mentioned, she was invited to try out.
the Pack moved from 8.5 to 9.5 and the Hawks moved from 5.5 to 6.5
2 games doesn't prove anything but I think it may be a pattern when a strong team plays a weak team - I've seen it on other games but I haven't documented it
I'm speculating that the books open their lines on Tuesday, or possibly a little earlier with an appealing line on the fave to stimulate early betting
and then they have to move the lines to attract money to the dog
comments? BS or possibly true? I take no offense if you think it's BS - a lot of stuff I've considered has turned out to be BS - a few things haven't
if true knowing it could benefit a player who likes big faves or who wants to middle
there is the additional point that you're cut out of late news - a practice injury or Covid or something like that - but that's a zero sum thing - might hurt you - might help you

Bears are just bad! Foles Trubisky just not getting the job done. Rodgers looked great. Brady looks average at best.
Mahomes is not human.....
Which means both team's Sunday games almost have to be moved to Monday??

I believe Steelers moved to Monday and Ravens to Tuesday.

Easy money! LoL.
(actually about the ugliest, undeserving backdoor cover I have ever seen)
I knew they would go for 2. No reason to, but I knew they would. When Eagles lined up to go for 2, little bro (he is bigger than me) started getting really upset. When they made the 2 point conversion, he said I didn't deserve to win and he wasn't going to pay me. I said, "yes you are." He eventually handed me 8, $25 chips from 8 different casinos. Poor loser. Lol.

really, really ugly pick of Wentz pass with 9 minutes left helping the Hawks to a win
he threw it right to the Hawks' safety - pathetic - Wentz needs to get benched or get traded - he's stinking up the joint

Wentz has not played well but how much of it is his fault is also debatable. Would Mahomes have a winning record with that offensive line and that talent?

I think so. Wentz just missed so many easy throws yesterday when they were available. In that division, Mahomes probably changes 3-7-1 to 6-4-1. It is really fascinating to see how far Wentz has fallen. QBs in that division now. Dalton. McCoy. Smith. Wentz. Ugh....
Derrick Mason, Vanderbilt coach, had to be aware that he was close to being fired.
So he puts Fuller on the team and has her kick, so that he can go down into the history books. And maybe to shame Vandy onto waiting another week before firing him.
And Sarah Fuller shows the world that she was not adequately prepared to be a kicker.
Quote: billryanSteeler game originally scheduled for Thursday now is on for Tuesday. Why couldn't they give the Broncos a few extra days?
The Broncos only had one player test positive. The other QBs just did not wear a mask. Baltimore had 20 some players out.
. My son watched whole game, and has been following the story since it broke before the game. He says squib type kick was intentional, and that as a soccer goalie she was best available given COVID issues. So not as much a stunt as I thought. It is really too bad that Vanderbilt is so bad that they never even got close enough for her to attempt a field goal.Quote: CommishThat was the type of kick Sarah Fuller was supposed to kick according to the coach.
The one negative was the alleged reason for the squib kick... that they didn’t want her blocked or put in the position of trying to make a tackle. To me, that would have disqualified her from kicking off.

They announced today they she will be playing again this weekend.
I was disappointed that after she kicked off she ran away from the ball. I don't necessarily think she should tackle but at least try to slow a runner down.
Quote: billryanSomeone should make a youtube video of the times kickers have gotten involved in a play. It's usually not very pretty, yet fun to watch.
this is really fun to watch, to me, anyway - 2016 - stocky Penn St. kicker Joey Julius levels opponents - never seen anything like it before
the NYT has an article estimating each team's playoff chances - I guess it was done by computer
in the NFC East to win the Division they have - Giants...41%...........Wash..........26%............Eagles..............23%..............Boys............10%
pretty interesting reading, to me anyway

I'll always remember Sean Taylor by this play. What the hell was Moorman thinking turning upfield? Would have been a hall of famer if he hadn't died way too young. Amazing him an Ed Reed were the safeties at same time at Miami. Miami's rosters a few of those seasons may have been the most talented college teams ever, at least at certain positions. Those two, 3 future pro bowl running backs (Gore, Portis, McGahee) and three future pro bowl receivers (Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Santana Moss ) on the roster at the same time, and they got the national title stolen and given to Ohio St. by one of the worst fourth down phantom pass interference calls you will ever see.

Blasphemy!!!! Maybe the most obvious pass interference call ever. Okay, I may be delusional as I am from Ohio and had a wager on Ohio State winning that game.
I was shocked to see that guy pop right back up like that after that hit from Taylor
when I fist saw the hit I thought he'd go down for the count
they dropped so many balls - easy catches - that any 2nd string h.s. boy could have snagged
compared to the Chiefs - no comparison
I don't know; maybe they just had a bad game
Big Ben's a good QB but he can't run - the top QBs in the NFL right now can run and pass

The Steelers are not a great team. The worst 11-0 team I have ever seen.

If that game does not make my case for playing down to the competition I don't know what to tell ya, The whole thing had a feel of "let's get this over with."
If I was still a fan I would have been going nuts. Instead I am mad I did not take the points. Thought it completed last week's parlay and started this weeks. Might be the first game in history to be able to do that.
They play the Football Team next week but no line yet. They might play harder because of this embarrassment or they may keep the pattern. Yesterday was divisional, Football Team is inter-conference. They clobbered some bad teams so will need to see how many points involved.
Really looking forward to Bills Steelers.
Quote: SOOPOOIt appeared to me that Ben’s arm strength is way down. But he made up for it with a bunch of precision passes. Neutral field I believe KC is 5-6 points better than Pittsburgh.
Really looking forward to Bills Steelers.
Get yourself some beef on weck at Charlie the Butcher and watch the Bills take it.
My Villanova basketball team (I am a huge fan, not a member of team lol) had 2 games cancelled this week. Lots of cancellations around college basketball in the early going.
College football having many games cancelled. Ohio State has only played 4 games, with 2 remaining and 1 of those likely to be cancelled and basically only 1 of those 4 wins was against a decent team. So you have to try to compare them with teams that have played more and better competition as far as the college playoff deal.
Pro football, obviously becoming a concern. They have taken an attitude to just endure, but it is becoming a little ridiculous now. Teams are forced to play with no QB, completing 1 pass for the entire game. THAT is not professional NFL football.
Oh boy what a year. :(
Quote: AZDuffmanGet yourself some beef on weck at Charlie the Butcher and watch the Bills take it.
I also enjoy beef on weck although I only eat it about once a year.
To expound on this thought regarding the ACC, they just announced that the Clemson/FSU game has been cancelled. This means that with a win this week against Va Tech, they would secure an 8-1 conference record and be in second place in the division. The ACC championship games this year will take the top 2 schools in the conference (there are no divisions in the ACC this year).Quote: kewljBoy, sports is really getting screw up now with cancellations.
However, Miami, who lost to Clemson, and thus would lose a tie-breaker with them, still has 3 conference games on their schedule. Assuming they play and win these 3 games, they would end up with a 9-1 conference record, which would overtake Clemson for the #2 spot in the conference. Here's the kicker -- Miami's last game against Ga Tech is scheduled on the same day as the Championship game!
WTF?
Shortened seasons in sports where part of the test is the long grueling season. Teams playing games missing half their starters like yesterdays Baltimore Raven game. As I mentioned earlier a game that a team had to start a non Quarterback. They couldn't even bring a quarterback in off the street because that would have required a quarantine. And all these cancelled games and uneven schedules and records.
When we look back at 2020 in 10, 20 years all sports just has to have an asterisk.

I always considered it when I went to the Native New Yorker in Phoenix but always broke down and got wings.
