Smoked tri-tip with a side of some frozen Nathan's french fries that were not worth the premium price. They were nothing like the fries one gets at any Nathans I've ever eaten in. Even a generous helping of Santa Maria seasoning couldn't save them.

I haven't tried those fries yet. Did you deep fry them or just put them in the oven? I am usually to lazy to fry them.

I stuck them in my airfryer which normally makes even supermarket fries taste good. I would not recommend them. I think someone just saw a chance to make a licensing deal for the name.

I splurged and had BBQ. Half a rack of dry rubbed spare ribs, 1/2 pound of burnt ends, 1/2 pound of sliced brisket, 1/2 pound of smoked pulled chicken, corn bread, fries, and mac & cheese topped off with a sweet tea.

it's probably been in the stores a long time but I never noticed it before
used to eat the frozen stuff Steakumm but it had a weird taste probably from the processing - thumbs down

I do something similar for a quick tasty meal.

Sauté bag frozen onions and colored peppers in a little butter, olive oil and healthy splash of soy sauce.

Once soft add shaved steak as it cooks quickly.

When steak done add handful of provolone cheese. Melt then add some melted queso cheese if you have it.

Serve on warm naan bread. Freaking incredible.

I splurged and gorged. Bought Wegmans sushi tray.... I think they call it the ‘family pack’. Basically 4 different rolls, mixed with 8 pieces. I also bought 1/4 pound of sashimi cut salmon. Each piece of sushi was topped with extra raw salmon. Everything was of course dipped in soy/wasabi mix.

First time I've had a home cooked meal on Christmas day in about 15 years. Usually a family gathering for a buffet. Thank you covid.

I cooked and served up a fbeast of a carvery: Slow roast lamb. Roast and mashed spuds, buttered parsnips, honey roast carrots, broccoli, cauliflower in cheese sauce and a couple of Yorkshire puddings. Washed down with ale and swiftly followed by Christmas pud with brandy sauce.

Bloated now.

I am bloated too. The wives made a nice Turkey dinner for the three of us and the dogs each got a plate. Time for a nap and then a trip to the pub.

Sadly, no kids this year to join us.

LOL. Not such common interpretation here. Pud only equals human penis in the phrase 'pulling his pud' and even that is seldom heard outside the playground. Maybe EB just circulates in different social circles. $;o)

Isn't Christmas pudding and brandy sauce a thing in the US? Here it's after just about every Christmas dinner.

I was more expecting comments on the main course being lamb and not turkey.

We had turkey but I think ham is more common than turkey in US because everyone had turkey a month earlier on thanksgiving.

Thanks, That makes sense. No Thanks-giving here.
Here, Turkey is almost the inevitable Christmas dinner (Chicken for poorer or smaller families), not often cooked at home for the rest of the year. Pork or gammon are popular too, and roast beef on many Sunday lunches. Lamb is the most expensive here because we tend to import most of it from New Zealand, subject to high tariffs. Now that we have left Europe, we expect pork and chicken prices to go up significantly.

Lamb and chicken most popular in our curries because most of our so called 'Indian' restaurant's and take-outs are run by ethnicities that avoid pork or beef. A very few Caribbean take-outs serve goat, which can be delish, but isn't mainstream..

A local butcher sells horse, donkey, kangaroo, ostrich and occasionally some even stranger meats. Reminds me I want to try ostrich.

Turkey for me as well - in fact, leftover turkey breast from Thanksgiving (don't panic - I froze it first), with green beans and mashed potatoes. Actually, it's the first Christmas in years that I have had turkey; normally, I eat with my mother and one of my brothers, and they traditionally serve beef roast for Christmas dinner.

Tonight: reheated pork tenderloin (stuffed with spinach and Swiss cheese) leftover from Wednesday, with whatever potatoes I had left over from last night.
Tomorrow night: chicken cordon blanc ("don't you mean cordon bleu?" The way I make it, it's only good enough for third place (the white ribbon, or "cordon blanc"). For those of you in the UK, the USA traditionally uses what I believe is the same system as the French - first place is traditionally a blue ribbon (red is first in the UK, correct?), second is red, and third is white; if there is a fourth place ribbon, there is no standard for it - I have seen green, yellow, pink, and purple all used.

The egg white gives is a little silkier texture and creates the froth on top.

I do mine a little different. Orange juice, French vanilla ice cream scoop, and vodka, then blend it.

yeah, I've done it with vanilla ice cream too...................actually I think it was better with ice cream

don't want booze with a sweet drink though
I like a good quality bourbon with a maraschino cherry garnish and diet pepsi - you get higher without sugar - going to add bitters the next time I go to the liquor store -I used to drink and like Manhattans when I was a bartender - that's not exactly a Manhattan - but might get you some of the same taste
used to get stoned on weed all the time when I was young - it got real tired and I gave it up - now it's legal but I don't want it - like booze better - only get jammed once a week -

I've been cooking with my new Ninja grill/air fryer. The manuals they include are a bit of a joke. I tried to cook six turkey sausages, it suggested ten minutes. When I checked at six minutes, they were raw. At ten, they were overcooked and dried out. Two chicken breasts were supposed to take 15 minutes. They were overcooked and dried out at the 12-minute mark. It makes great steaks, even using low-end - meats and cuts like tri-tips and flat iron have been steakhouse perfect.
My biggest disappointment was I thought I'd be able to air-fry potatoes while grilling a steak, and it takes up a lot of counter space.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.

Jealous. Made a can of chunky New England clam chowder. But add some raw sliced mushrooms and sriracha sauce. Your sandwich looks better.

I tried a Peruvian chicken place here a few months ago for the first time. It was fine but I really didn't notice anything different than other roast chickens. Maybe I just got one that wasn't seasoned well. I will give it another chance.

I had a 10oz Turkey Pastrami sandwich with swiss cheese on Rye. It was a big sandwich but it is the only thing I will eat today. I think the Kroger Turkey Pastrami tastes better than their regular Pastrami.

Jealous. Made a can of chunky New England clam chowder. But add some raw sliced mushrooms and sriracha sauce. Your sandwich looks better.
