It seems like interst in poker is really starting to die down.

I am the last guy in the world to ever worship 'stars' but I have to tell you it still is off-putting to watch 'the finals' in something and they are all people you never heard of 10 minutes ago. I think this has bummed out the audience.

I was looking for wsop figures and I couldn't find them. Surely they are out there. I was curious to the number of entries in the wsop events year over year. It seems like interst in poker is really starting to die down.

Source: wsop.com

Note: many other events had more entrants (cheaper events), but I think this is the question you wanted answered. For example, this year, the $1.5K MillionaireMaker had 7275 entries and the $1.5K Monster Stack (final table tonight) had 7192 entries.

You want great coverage of poker, watch the Livestream on WSOP.com, with David Tuchman and guests (everybody in poker comes to guest comment at some point over the tournaments). They rock; I don't think you'll be bored. The schedule can be slightly unpredictable; coverage begins each day 1/2 hour after the final table is reached in each event (30 minute delay to keep the rail from telling the players stuff in real time), and nobody knows exactly when that will be. Coverage includes RFID hand display and metrics as the hand plays out. However, ESPN has broadcast rights to the Main Event itself, so that won't be livestreamed on WSOP.com, but all the other events are.

IMO, poker is not dying out at all; it's just on a plateau in this particular tournament. The pros seem to agree that the game lost an entire generation of young male players after Black Friday, but the poker rooms are expanding around the country, and on-line money play is continuing to grow where it's legal. If you're in Nevada or other legal places to play, there's actually an on-line bracelet tournament this year (think it starts July 2) for the first time.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Thank you bbb, I was curious about the number of entries for all events but now that I am thinking about it, that number wouldn't mean anything. Each year they add smaller events that seem to be attracting large numbers of entries.

Donald Trump for president? "When we left Iraq we should have taken the oil". Go Donald! I wonder if Rosie O'Donnell will vote for him. :-)

He is an empty windbag. The real Republican party candidates should be embarassed if he goes on too long. Course the Democrats have their own fools too, but Trump is the worst of ' em.

Slight correction; the MonsterStack took so long yesterday to get to a FT that it will happen today instead. Coverage begins at approx. 11:30 Vegas/2:30 East Coast time and should last to the end.

I was just listening to the GWAE podcast with the wizard and they were discussing superbowl props, and came up with these thoughts:

Whats the biggest bridge jumper you or someone you know laid? What odds and how long was it a lock until the event you bet no on actually happened?

Whats the biggest bet you or someone you know made on something you had no clue about?

For me i havent had a bridge jumper go bad, but the biggest ive bet was no overtime 2 superbowls ago. I think i got it as -600 or -800, i cant remember. No safety sounds like a good bet but i am a ploppy when it comes to sports bets and saw the wizard take a bath the last few superbowls so i opted out....

My biggest bet on something i had no idea about was the last american idol. I bet the girl would win over the guy because i figured the voters would like the safe pop singer option over the rocker. You can tell by how i wrote that sentence i have no idea wtf i am talking about.

Lucky I didn't die today

I am working on the side of my house today in between rain storms. I hear a very loud Crack and pop. Then my power goes out. I look up the hill in our back yard and I see that a tree has fallen onto power lines and then snapped 2 utility poles. I ran up the hill to see if the tree came from my property. It is a pretty big hill. When I get to the top I see the destruction. First thing I do because I am fat and out of breath is lean on the guard rail. I am so lucky that the lines on on the rail were not live. Power has been out since 2pm eastern. Looks like it is still going to be a while. The lines were also ripped off our house.

Dammit. Just when you think you might find some free online help, the only guy willing is an AP. Never miss an opportunity, eh dj? XD

Short story is I have a very rare JDM Honda whose engine was only ever offered in Japan, and in order to get parts, I might need a translator. Ebay, aftermarket stores, none of them carry what I need. I'm thinking I gotta go direct out of Tokyo from Honda themselves. I'm not to the point of ordering now, but I wanted to know if there was someone I could reach out to if needed.

Also, since I'm talking about it, I'd ask those especially of the Southwest to keep an eye out. I know the desert and SoCal have some pretty vibrant tuner scenes, and I gotta imagine there's a JDM contact somewhere in those areas. I just can't find them on the Googles. Some of y'all are car guys. Keep your eyes open for me?

I used to work for a Honda dealership, and I still have a good relationship with that dealer. If you let me know what it is you need and relatively where you are located, hopefully I can get some information from my contacts there and relay it to you.

That would be beyond awesome.

I have a JDM D15B VTEC (not the 3 stage VTEC, just VTEC), head code P08. I need to find...

Ring set - 13011-P08-004
Connecting rod bearings - 13211-PE0-003

Buffalo would probably be the biggest metro area that's close to me. If they can help, ask them if any ol Honda peddler could do the same. Thanks again!

Lol. Honda Forum, Honda-Tech, D-Series.org, JDM World, and at least 20 other sites, minimum. Took me several days just to track down the part numbers, and I only found them in one location. Now, as far as finding somewhere to get the parts themselves...

Your brain is folded like a wad a paper.

Quote:

Suzana Herculano-Houzel and Bruno Mota—a neuroscientist and physicist, respectively, at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil—have found a mathematical relation for folding in mammals' brains that appears to be universal. Using data for 62 different species, the duo plotted the area of cortex times the square root of its thickness versus of the exposed area of the brain. All the data points fell on a single universal curve—for both lissencephalic and gyrencephalic species—as the researchers report online today in Science. And the curve showed that the combination of total area and thickness grew with the exposed outer area raised to the power 1.25—just as the area of a circle grows with its radius raised to the power 2.

Guessing that the 'members that have visited site today' is a list that excludes the members that are still currently online.
As in, they visited and have left the building.
I haven't figured out the frowny symbol, but the last visit for the member 'Nobody' was in May according to profile.

If you have visited the forum today and are currently active, your name will appear on both lists. If you log off, your name will disappear from the currently active list but remain on the list of today's visitors. If you hide you online status, your name will appear on neither but your last visit will show in your profile.

It doesn't seem to explain the 'Nobody ;-)' that was screen shot a couple of posts up the thread.

And in your quote of me, I don't see an apology.
So.....I assume it must be a more generic question.
I tend to apologize when I think I have screwed up, both happen regularly ;-)

Cheers

If I have screwed up on the forum today, I extend my sincerest apologies to all ( except 1BB, he already said it wasn't necessary. I assume he's only in a position to speak for himself, rather than speak for the other members ).
Cheers to all, especially to 1BB, seriously

$880 for six nights at the California in Vegas???

I just watched an old 1983 episode of Press Your Luck, and the winner of the show had landed on a Vegas trip in which the host said had a value of $880. At the end of the show, the announcer said it was for the California in downtown. I didn't get all of the details but I can assure you, it wasn't worth that much back then. Quite expensive for that place in 1983 dollars.

The trip I just completed cost less than that for two people and 7 nights. And this in 2015 dollars!! Also, none of it comped.

It always seems that game show prize values are over-inflated. Cars are always valued at MSRP, which is quite a bit more that they typically sell for. Maybe $880 was the max room rate; the one you see posted on the room side of the door. Maybe it was a suite? Sucks if that's the basis contestants have to use when paying taxes.

Ah, Press Your Luck. One of my favorite game show of all time. As a kid, I dressed up as a whammy once. And it wasn't even Halloween! ;)

Were you streaming it, or was this on TV? I hadn't seen GSN show PYL in a while, but that might have more to do with me giving up cable!

Has a gaming theme. Maybe someone can provide analysis.

Don't know why youtube is finicky, or fails to deliver a product, or your browser setup -- but it's probably one of those.

I was walking down the casino walk way reading the last post and some girl stopped and asked if I had snap chat. What the hell is that?
