It's a mobile application used to send photographs or short video clips from phone to phone. They're allegedly not stored in any database, and are only shown for a single viewing or short timer.

It's used for a variety of uses, from G to R in rating.

It's a semi-anonymous social platform, similar in aspects to Twitter or Instagram. It allows users to connect to each other in ways both personal and impersonal, as a medium for getting to know each other or social networking.

It'd be not unlike asking someone for their phone number.

The Impact Team claims to have access to the company's user database and is threatening to release all of the information unless the site is taken down. So far the group has released 40MB of data which include credit card details as well as internal ALM files and documents.

We drove up to Brimfield, Ma. last week for the thrice yearly flea market and antique show. It is one of the largest and oldest in the country. You can't see it all in one day. It's that big.

I noticed something different this year. Some of the vendors selling military and war related items no longer display Confederate flags. They still have them but you now have to ask to see them. There are still plenty of swastikas out front but no stars and bars.

The next show is in September. If you like flea markets and will be in New England, set aside a day and check it out.

Man, I'm trying. It took a lot of work to mellow as much as I have, but I still haven't reached the level of Zen you have.

<rant on>

Sad, yes. But I still find it more disturbing than anything. That flag has flown for 150 years. It has been co-opted by hate groups, been used by racist rednecks, has flown over lynched bodies. I ain't saying it's never been controversial. But now you're all pissed off about it? Now? 150 years, but now you got your panties in a bunch...

That is what I find disturbing. This isn't a demonstration over anything. This isn't a protest over eff all. This is lemming-think. Mob mentality. It's a bunch of opportunistic animals jumping on the next bandwagon that "allows" them to act less than human. Maybe there are actual demonstrations with progress in mind, and I'm being pawned by the media like everyone else. But all I see in every clip presented is a whole wad of wasteful skin that needs a punch in the face, at a minimum.

It just so absurd. I imagine a bloke like you, 1BB, probably has Old Glory flying outside your home right now. That banner represents "us", but more so, it represents where we came from. The noble men and women who fled persecution for freedom, whose spirit lifted the New World out of darkness and turned it into the greatest empire that's ever graced the Earth. Right? But, just like the Stars and Bars, it also represents a darkness. That flag stands for the people who committed genocide against millions upon millions of my people. It represents the theft of my ancestral homelands. It represents government approved murder. And it ain't all exactly ancient history. Hell, even the lauded JFK broke a treaty signed by Washington himself, and much of my family's former land was washed asunder. Cornplanter ain't even home anymore. They had to tote his remains to Buffalo, as his final resting place is now under 70' of water. That happened in your lifetime.

What's that got to do with you and me? Not a goddamned thing.

I fly Gadsden, as it most closely represents my values and the America I believe in. Should there ever come a day when I take my grandfather's burial flag off the mantle, unfurl it, and decide to fly it, it will fly under the Gadsden. IDGAF if that offends my neighbor, offends my 'Nam Era Vet father, or if it offends you. I'm an American, I am free, and I will do whatever the f#$% I want. And if I get in a butthurt mood where I can't see past the darkness when looking at the Stars and Stripes, you're not going to take it down for me. Hell no. You're going to fly that sumbitch for all it's worth, because you are an American and you are free.

I just can't believe how emboldened and entitled, yet at the same time cowardly, everyone is becoming. GTFOver yourself already.

I ain't got to "sad" yet. I think I'm currently resting at "I wish a mo#$%^#$%er would..." But I'm gonna keep trying.

As you may have already read in other threads, I was on the road this weekend, road in the Deep South ( caps on purpose ). I noticed a number of vehicles on the road flying flags. I don't know if they were trying to get in a fight, or protesting the silliness we hear on almost all the 'press' or what. But you know, the flags didn't bother me, they didn't embolden me, they didn't embarrass me, they just made me a bit sad. Sad because people think it's important to argue about this. THIS is not important. I watched NBC news last night, I have it taped every night (DVR) Since the technology was available. I watched it taped, over dinner with Angel, Tilapiia in a basil cream sauce. Made me mad watching, they lied, LIED, repeatedly. Not just a spin, bald face B.....t lie. Not once, repeatedly. They lied, I'm pissed. I don't care that they were trying to sway opinion one way or another, where can you find anyplace that doesn't? But they lied to me, did it again, and did it again, this the 'news' station I tape everyday. I am not going to watch tonight, will stop taping tomorrow. I'm done w/NBC, done, over. I hope they all soon wind up in the unemployment line, though that line is too good for them. Now THIS is important, f the flags.

I'd have to go look at the history, but I don't think the controversy started this year.

On the other hand, when people get upset that people are making a big deal about a symbol. I say, okay, for the side that doesn't think symbolism is a big deal, we'll just take it down. Except now they object. Why, because symbolism means something. That's all you can conclude. The one side is pretending the other side should get over their symbolism sensitivity.

So, get over it, does not fly. So, to speak.

If you wanna protest the US flag for the reasons you stated, well then...you should if that's the way you feel.

Whoa, don't misunderstand me. I'm not at all saying people don't have a right to opinions or feelings, and passionate ones at that. What I'm saying is those feelings are yours. You have no right to go around imposing your feelings on others, especially through use of force or intimidation.

If you're pissed off about the flag being removed, by all means, by a hundred and festoon your everything with them. If you're happy about its removal, throw a block party from Thursday to Monday, buy a gross of them, and burn them all weekend long. That's you. Own it.

But when you start imposing your ideals onto others, a very special line has been crossed. One that doesn't deserve forgiveness, neither does it restraint. Stuff like that bothers me deeply. And I ain't Father Gamble. 'Bout the only thing I'd be praying for is the opportunity to hit you hard enough to change your sexual orientation.

That's what I mean by "get over yourself". Not that you shouldn't have an opinion or emotions. But you need to realize that you're only a special snowflake to your mama, and the world doesn't owe you jack s#$%. You wanna be mad? Be mad. Want to change something? Change it. But imposing your will by force ain't gonna fly. Not with this kid.

I owe 2feathers an apology about the 'stars and bars' thing. Sir, I shouldn't have made an issue.

As for my own rant, I am glad polite society [even in SC] has finally come to realize that any attempt to resurrect the Conf. Battle Flag as a representation of pride in history [or whatever you would call it] is doomed due to the hate groups that have co-opted it - and it just should not be used anywhere except museums. The protest various people have about the public display is simply legitimate.

As for the types who still fly it to get in your face, meh, I ignore them.

What is getting me peeved enough to just about fly one though are people who aren't satisfied with the consensus of polite society and go on to disparage the reverence for that history generally, raving about Lee being a traitor and all that. It just shows that groups like the NRA are right: if you give in on *anything* to these people, that just encourages them to go on to the next step in their goal of completely crushing everything you are about [end rant]

Robbers net $694K from ATM guards in downtown Las Vegas

Quote:

DNA on a surgical mask dropped at the scene by one of the robbers matched Clinton Morgan, a 29-year-old Las Vegas man with a criminal history in California and Nevada, according to the police report

Quote:

Rangel told police he immediately put up his hands and told the gunman, "I only make 11 bucks an hour. Take it."

Quote:

Questioned after his July arrest by a Metro detective and an FBI agent, Morgan first denied knowing anything about the robbery and said the cash was from selling marijuana, according to the police report.

But after detectives confronted him, the report says, he became emotional and admitted being a "lookout."

According to the report, Morgan told investigators a man to whom he'd sold drugs recruited him into the robbery, which the man called an "inside job."

Inside job. Even Barney Fife might have guessed that.

Jimenez said it's unusual, though not unheard of, for robbers to get away with so much money at one time

I have to give mad props to landscapers. We decided to change a retaining wall and I wanted to add a french drain to another section. We could never afford to pay someone to do it so I volunteered. I figured how hard could it be. Well let me tell you. I spent 4 hours today and all I did was remove a small wall, dig a small hole and take down a small tree. I am exhausted. as to flags: stars and bars represents various things, right now its a darling on the cable channels for those who are so media driven. blacks still want black power, black teachers, black officials, etc. southerners still hate the federals.

Hiding these thoughts in the Misc Discus thread, on purpose.
The HotBlondeChallenge is fading into history,
The 2016 Election is, has been, a bit overheated from both right and left.
The Discus Suspension Thread, shameful thing to need to discuss,
I think Michael used the word 'Shame' in the OP.

Maybe a new thread, something like 'the meaning of life',
That from a gambler's perspective of course.
I think I would like to see the posts.
I do not think that I should start such a thread,
It's over my head.

Oh, and I have to mention, The Chip of the Day thread, good solid stuff there.

That was just a short thread, of significance to only me.
Don't understand why you remember it, or mention it.
Never got a reply from the 'hosts' here.
Just a couple from you, mostly...

I was interested because of my situation which I outlined in your thread and was looking forward to seeing if your request would be granted. I guess it would have to acknowledged first. What did you think of your poll results?

Not much. I don't like the word troll and I don't like it's indiscriminate use.

Me either, which is precisely why I didn't use it when asking why you were bringing up my old posts.
Kindly, I might add.

The great thing about threads and users is that you can block them if you don't want to talk about the issues discussed in a thread or a particular member gets your goat.

I've only blocked a couple of threads and one current member (I did block a recently destroyed member). The member I blocked tested my patience because that person got away with a lot and always was accusing people of things. All that was fine until the PMs started...then the person was blocked...

Just for the record, since our posts appeared in sequence, I don't think RonC has me blocked. I have never PM'd Ron C. I could be wrong about the blocking, once again. Just saying

It isn't you...the point is simply that we need not let people annoy us; we can block them if they are out of hand.

Wise words, thanks.
I don't have anyone blocked, maybe I should.
I just keep thinking they'll write something good, and I don't want to miss out.

Uzbekistan Airways is now weighing all passengers before they board their planes. That's right, they have to step on a scale all in the name of safety. I have my doubts about it being for safety. They're up to something. On a couple of our flights from Oahu to Maui passengers were asked their weight. This was a small plane and I believe it was for safety. I swear my wife and I were the only ones to tell the truth. So much for safety. Vanity over safety. I'm sure by the looks on the employees' faces that they got this a lot. Anyone care to "weigh in"?

It doesn't surprise me that airlines would start weighing passengers, but I thought it would be to charge extra for those who exceeded a certain threshold. A fat surcharge, so to speak, and I for one would be screwed if/when this was to come to pass!

BTW, there are more knowledgeable folks here who can correct me if necessary, but I though commercial passenger jets had weight sensors. I've been on flights (737's or some comparable aircraft) where passengers were asked to rearrange themselves on half-full flights to distribute weight. I have also been on Canadair Regional Jets where the pilots had to remove fuel before take-off to get "under weight."

My Dad tells the story from his "bigger days" of a flight on a small aircraft from PBI to Nassau. They sat him in the cockpit next to the pilot to distribute weight properly!

Once I was the only passenger on a plane with a 50 person capacity. I was forced to sit in the back and ballast had to be added to the plane.

The city of San Francisco has painted some of it's walls with repellent paint in an effort to combat public urination. The special paint causes the urine to splash back on the person's pants and shoes. You can't make this stuff up. I don't think urine stained clothes is the first concern for some of those guys.

I also don't think this is the first city to try this but they're the ones talking about it.

This may be a 2 month project.

Yep, you learn to respect just how hard some people work, and how much they can get done too, taking on a project yourself.

I've done that. Also, it's a lot easier to cut if you do it every 5 days instead of 7.

I can't imagine living is a place where
people peeing wherever they want is
so bad you have coat everything with
a special paint. I can't remember the
last time I saw somebody doing that
around here.

Alzheimer's is a very sad, terrible condition to find yourself in.
But it is not all bad.
At some point you just forget all the silly jhit you did in your life, the really dumb stuff.
