Well, there's probably not any alien life anywhere near that massive gamma ray source.

Or, if life were comic books, the aliens from that region of space would all look like the Hulk - and She-Hulk.

There were a couple of gay superheroes back in the late 1990s. Or maybe they weren't gay.

What makes you think Superman wasn't gay. Has he ever had a girlfriend or a wife? Lois Lane is his beard, that's all she is. It's pretty much the general consensus that all superheroes are gay. Batman and Robin? Come on. Muscle building guys who wear tights and capes in public, I think it's safe to say they're gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that

Exactly. Finally, someone who gets it. Too many people forget the important lessons they learned from The Velveteen Rabbit.
As children, we knew that we could make something real just by wanting it to be. Sadly, most of us lose that ability by the time we learn how to spell responsibility.

Not when I used to read comic books. Back in the fifties and sixties he was gay as hell. Like Batman and Robin still are.

the original TV Superman - George Reeves - died by gunshot wound - ruled a suicide although there were some who thought otherwise

I liked that show quite a bit - I was very young - I thought Superman was great, both on TV and in the comics

the show's first 2 seasons were in black and white - and the rest of the seasons were in color

Batman was not as much fun - he was a brooding character - but some loved him because of his flaws - his humanity

"The character's origin was revealed in #33 (November 1939), unfolding in a two-page story that establishes the brooding persona of Batman, a character driven by the death of his parents. Written by Finger, it depicts a young Bruce Wayne witnessing his parents' murder at the hands of a mugger."

The Three Stooges often slept in the same bed, but that didn't make them gay. (I personally preferred the rather hazardous 3 tier bunkbed)

Hardly a fantasy, me and my friends used to joke about him being gay. And I don't even think we knew what that meant, just that he prefers the company of men. Except we didn't call it gay, we called it a word that you're not supposed to say now.

'Allow me to share my latest misadventure.
I was headed to a Doctors appointment and driving on SR 92, single lane in each direction, 65MPH speed limit. As I come around a curve, I see someone hitchhiking on the side of the road. As I pass him, I recognize him from the local VFW. He's a bit eccentric and pretty crippled. I'm doing 70 and can't stop as there are cars behind me. I don't give it much thought until I'm headed home some four hours later. He is still there, maybe 1/2 mile from where I saw him earlier. There is no traffic, so I make a u-turn and pick him up.
He's headed to the Dollar store a few miles down the road. I take him and tell him I'll wait and take him back. He can barely walk, so I ask if I can help, and I take him shopping. A six-pack of coke, a crumb cake, a half dozen packs of smokes, and a crossword magazine. The two workers knew him and were very friendly to him. When we get to the spot I first saw him, he tells me he lives a mile down a dirt road. I drive it, and he shows me his driveway. It's got ruts that could swallow a strut. I pass stripped-out cars, a burnt school bus, and a camper that was split in half and arrive at his house- a collection of fences, pallets, and tarps built around the other half of the camper. Of course, there is no place to turn around. The guy gets out without saying anything and stumbles away. I back down the path a good two hundred yards before I find a spot to make a 100-point turn.
I drive the twenty or so miles home uneventfully, only just now, I see my left tire is low and must have sprung a leak. Living out here, I've learned to prepare, so I have an air pump in the car.

Yesterday was chilly in Bisbee. I generally sit on my front porch, drink my breakfast, and catch up on the latest madness on my Chromebooks while looking at my unbelievable views of Mexico. It was cold and breezy, so I moved inside but went about my day wearing a t-shirt and shorts. When I got to my Drs office, I was surprised to see coats hanging on the rack, and then I saw an older couple come in, dressed as if it was winter. Long heavy coats, scarves, hats, etc.,etc.
This morning, I'm back on my porch, but wearing sweat pants and a long sleeve shirt. A jogger runs past wearing shorts and a sports bra type top. Two minutes later, an older lady comes by, wearing a winter coat, and her dog has a coat on. According to Alexa, it is currently 59 degrees out.

the Cleavers and the Beaver lived in the fictitious town of Mayfield, although they referenced locations in and around Mayfield, Ohio
Mayfield is a popular town name - there are 18 towns of Mayfield in the U.S.

Mayberry is the fictitious town of the Andy Griffith show - meant to represent Mount Airy, NC where the real Andy Griffith grew up

A cautionary tale of repurposing.
I don't know all the details, but at one point Lynyrd Skynyrd had a BBQ joint in one of the strip casinos. I heard the food sucked and was overpriced, but whatever the case it didn't last long. At an auction, I was able to pick up several gross of the t-shirts they sold at the place. The only problem was they were all infant and kid-sized, so selling so many was problematic. So over the years, I have used some as rags, some to wash my car, used some to soak up leaks, etc.
Last week I was in a local watering hole, mesmerizing the crowd with tales of living in the big city, a place most can only aspire for when the serving wench complained about never having bar rags and how she hated wasting paper towels when a rag would do. Wanting to get on her good side, I brought her a dozen of the infant sized shirts and let her know there were more if she wanted them.
She was thankful, and she was generous with her appreciation.
I come to hear that over the weekend; a crew was in the bar, and someone noticed a busboy using a Skynrd shirt as a rag and takes exception to it. The kid doesn't speak much English and doesn't understand, so the peckerheads yell out their objection louder, attracting the bouncer's attention. He asks them to quiet down and then tells them to leave. They do neither, and a bunch of regulars decide to intervene on behalf on the doorman. The discussion got loud and animated and spilled into the streets, where the Arizona Rangers decided they would give the out-of-town visitors a free room for the night and even gave them a free lift to their new accommodations.
The woman I gave the shirts to wasn't working, so no harm, no foul.

I'm not sure, perhaps you could ask some of the 15,000 visitors we had for the 1000 Stairs Challenge last weekend.
It's a magical place. You'd hate it.

Mayberry (Mount Airy, NC) is about a 2000 mile drive to Bisbee, if you choose to avoid Arkansas.

The actual town of Mayberry used in the show is the same town used in Gone With the Wind to film burning of Atlanta. They simply took the old buildings and made them look more modern for Mayberry. The entirety of the Andy Griffith show was filmed in Hollywood.

"The show was filmed at Desilu Studios, with exteriors filmed at Forty Acres in Culver City, California. Woodsy locales were filmed north of Beverly Hills at Franklin Canyon, including the opening credits and closing credits with Andy and Opie walking to and from "the fishin' hole".

Bisbee always fascinated me. As a kid I'd watch Broken Arrow and then The Sheriff of Cochise County. A casino would be robbed in Vegas, and the crooks would head to Mexico, but they'd have to pass thru Bisbee. A jewel thief from Dallas was headed to LA. They'd cut him off in Bisbee. I was disappointed to learn neither show was actually shot in Cochise.
Many westerns were shot at the Tucson studios and John Wayne used to come here for breaks. When the mines closed, he was a large investor in the Brewery Gulch enterprises and bought a 4000-acre ranch just outside town. The Wayne Estate still owns much of the historic district.

I've been in the same room as him, but it was crowded, and he was the center of attention. I was supposed to go to a small get-together at his house, but the person who was my in canceled out. Saw Michael Biel(Sp), the guy from Terminator and Tombstone in a local dive bar.

Since Mount Airy has built up set replicas as a tourist attraction, I'm suggesting that a Burbank back lot and fond memory are not the only place "Mayberry" exists.
May the cards fall in your favor.

I don't believe that I had ever heard of Bisbee before you moved there.

Wins twice

My best friend was the first person I told about winning the $100,000 top prize, and she came with me to claim it,” the woman said in a Delaware Lottery statement. “When I scratched the $300,000 winning Serious Money ticket later in the day, we just sat there in disbelief. It was absolute insanity.”

The pair returned to the lottery headquarters, for the second time on Oct. 20, to claim the $300,000 "Serious Money" prize, bringing the woman’s total winnings to $400,000 for the day.
The woman plans to put most of the money into her retirement fund.
There's no secret. Just know what you're talking about before you open your mouth.
