What gets to me over and over making myself so negative so often the rate of increase following 3/20/20 is so steep on a 5 year chart. It's just so hard to believe such a thing is actually reality.

+ 125% Down from ATH of +128%. Was a roller coaster week. Was down substantially after Tuesday. Recouped some of the losses Th and Fri.

Now +127%. TSLA rebound helped. Plus RBLX broke out. The only mutual fund I own, TWCUX, is also a long term outperformer. I’m still not confident.

Now hit ATH thanks in large part today .... PETS.
Had it for quite some time at 33, was a loser as PETS has been hovering around 30.... all of a sudden today spiked.... I sold 1/2 at 46! NO NEWS. Can’t find any reason it should be up a lot. Frankly, can’t find any reason it is up at all!
Anyway, made a few hundred $$ on BETZ trade as well, and am still holding some BETZ in a trade waiting for $32. Came close today. Still underwater on TSLA, NBEV, and NAK trades.

Up 129% since inception.

Shares of Petmed Express (NASDAQ: PETS) were soaring today, riding the surge in meme stocks that was led by AMC Entertainment, whose shares nearly doubled today. Petmed Express wasn't far behind as shares of the online pet pharmacy finished up 58.4%. The online pet pharmacy seemed to benefit from the same interest from investors on Reddit's WallStreetBets forum and other online platforms who were looking to execute a short squeeze, though PetMed Express wasn't specifically mentioned on WallStreetBets.

The key phrase is ‘wasn’t mentioned’ but still somehow was magically included in the silly run up. I sold 1/2 and will keep the other 1/2. Not sure which action I will end up regretting!

. I regret not selling it all! Dropped right back to 33. I’m actually just happy I sold 1/2. I did a few good trades yesterday.... TSLA, BETZ, TRIP, and DKNG. .. even though overall account was down $$$$$ I did make $$$ on those quick trades. Back to plus 129% but slightly off of ATH.

Many people wonder why the markets can be at all time highs, yet their own accounts are down. Really depends on what sectors you invest in most. I am big in EV stocks like NIO, XPEV and CHPT. They were up huge a few moths ago and then the semiconductor shortage hit and they lost 60%. I was not worried because these are long term holds. The past few weeks they have started to take off once again and are headed back up. I guess if you buy a stock because you like the product you buy more on downturns.

I have three different accounts. One is my long term holds, one are my dividend stocks and the last I do a bit of day trading.

I have 4 separate ‘retirement/IRA’ accounts from different jobs. One ‘cash’ account. All my trading is done in the IRA accounts so no tax consequences. The biggest one is my ‘WoV portfolio’. Which I update in this thread. It is slightly below its ATH. The other 3 retirement accounts are at ATHs.

Silly stock market keeps climbing. Now at +131%. The one mutual fund I have, TWCUX, has done ridiculously well over the 7 years. No ‘trades’ last few days. Time to donate a little $$ to Las Vegas next week. I see the high will ‘only’ be 117….

Was down quite a bit while I was in Las Vegas. I lost gobs more in the market than I made at the tables. WoV portfolio down a tad from ATH, but back at + 131%. Other portfolios still 1-2% down from ATH. 90 shares of TSLA helped today.

. That was Vegas temperature.

Now at new ATH OF +132%. Very close to +133%. I sold 10 shares of ILMN at$475. Was in from the beginning at around $115 with 100 shares. With this sale down to 60 shares. It has a P/E ratio of over 100. And the ‘experts’ are forecasting lower earnings next quarter than this quarter’s results. Someone must think they have a big winner in their ‘pipeline’.

Take a look at XOM (Exxon-Mobil). First, their price at around $64 is reasonable. Second, oil prices are going up and expected to reach $100+/barrel next year which will provide even bigger profits than currently Third, XOM's dividend is and has been $.87/quarter. I personally believe the stock will go to $85+/share within a year and hold there for awhile or continue to rise slowly until the we somehow become energy independent again.

Found this from a year ago. Now up 133% from inception.

So up 34% since that July 15 2020 post. (2.33/1.74). My goal is 5% per year. 34% is amazing.

Took a week but now at +135%, barring a huge surprise from 1 mutual fund, TWCUX. Wifey recommended X, which is US Steel, up 10% over last few weeks! She saw that Florida condo which collapsed used only like 1/2 as much steel as recommended, and we know how that turned out. Wifey also keeps recommending lithium stocks. And Louis Vuitton of course…..

Even with big upturn today still not close to a recovery…. Up 130% from inception. I did buy DIA yesterday when Dow was down 800 and sold as it started going back up. Total profit $300. I felt good about my feeling that any drop due to ‘coronavirus concerns’ would be temporary.

I think I’ve mentioned this before…. But if not here is a summary…. I’ve owned CHU for quite a while. At end of Trump administration it was listed as a ‘bad’ company and it could not be traded on NYSE. So I owned it but couldn’t trade it. I’ve been bitching at TD for months. The resolution was apparently me opening a new account with a new company that trades shares listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Luckily, I got a call from TD today that ‘President Biden is letting me trade these shares for a few days’. I sold them at the price listed on the HKSE. It was $3k that I had almost given up hope on. I think I bought for around $3.5k so now have $3k, and a tax loss of $500. And I don’t have to open another account.

. Interesting. Seems like it may be used for cancer first? Seems weird that it would work for breakthrough cancer and coronavirus as well…!?

Up 134% from inception. ATH was 135% I may buy a very small amount of CYDY. To remind you, I didn’t buy any at the beginning of the pandemic because I had some information that may have been deemed ‘inside’ that was positive about CYDY. All that has been public for over a year now so I can buy. Probably 1000 shares tomorrow.

The MOA is a CCR5 blocker. CCR5 is an immune system issue. Blocking the immune system from damage (regardless from Cancer or Covid or HIV) should have the same effect.

This also makes covid strains and mutations not an issue either.

Frankly, I had never even heard of it before you mentioned it. It does look intriguing! I am definitely going to buy some tomorrow to follow it. I have a friend who loans some of his stocks to short sellers and makes 7-15% doing so. I guess this ETF sort of does it for you.

As far as for you…. I’m guessing if the Nasdaq 100 goes down, this ETF goes down…. but I’m not even 100% sure of that! I’m going to ask my B in Law about it. I’ll get back to you.

It's a strategy to hold the fang stocks where you get excellent dividends while giving up the chances for capitol gains.

I see. I asked a different friend who was involved in hedge funds what to do for less volatility and ‘safe’ income and he recommended ‘preferred bank stocks’. I bought PFF, PFFD, PGF, and PSK around 3 years ago. They pay around 5% annually and go up a little when the market is up a lot, and go down a little when the market is down a lot.

I think at my stage now, I’m going to love QYLD, and also XYLD which does the same thing with S & P 500.

Thanks for the question which opened my eyes to a new strategy for me!

I attached an opinion that gives them a thumbs-down. I'd have to think you are too young to go this route, though if you think your days are numbered these might be a step to take before taking the "sell everything" approach.

Of course, you could start sprinkling them into your portfolio ... true with about anything

Thanks for the link. I bought a good amount of QYLD and XYLD today. I would like to decrease variance now and would be happy with 5% per year. Nothing in the article lead me to believe that they are not very likely to exceed that goal. Time will tell!

Wife is now excited about stocks and is researching and giving me advice. Soooooo….. yesterday bought ‘infrastructure’ stocks …. ETN, PAVE, FCX, CHPT, OSK, DE, URI, CAT, NUE, and VALE. She also had me buy SQ. I liked OSK the most. Her favorite is CHPT. I’ll refer back to this post in a year.

I’ve periodically mentioned some stocks I bought to trade quickly at a small profit. A bunch including TSLA just reached the sell point. The only ones I’m still holding at a paper loss are
NBEV. $200
NAK. $400
TRIP. $800
BETZ. $900
T. $300

If market stays up today may finish at new ATH.

Portfolio was down quite a bit last week, and funny, I seem to post about it much less when it has dropped..... Has returned to +136% but slightly below ATH.

TSLA back up over $700 helps. I made a quick $140 a few days back trading 20 shares for a $7 profit. I think I'll try again if TSLA drops below $680 again.

Cracked 139% in pre-market. I got my first dividends from XYLD, QYLD, and RYLD. A little less than 1% for the MONTH. Their stock prices are up a tad as well. Maybe fool’s gold, but I’m going to buy more.

6/15 I bought BETZ at $31.14. Put sell order in at $32.70. Finally sold yesterday! That’s $112 over 2 1/2 months that ‘tied up’ $6200. I consider it a success.

If your portfolio is up 130+ %, what was the Dow when you started? It would be interesting to compare the two. I no longer buy individual stocks but when I did I always tracked them by how they did relative to the Dow.

approaching Dow down 3% from last close, more than 3% I think from all time high. Just keeps going down now.

I think it has become quite apparent you don't understand the market nearly as well as you think you do, but if you want to reinforce the concept, please do.
