I don't know why I quoted you when I wrote that or how that happened. Your response however, was accurate. She finally texted me back saying, she didn't want any negativity as she was already stressed out(No Good Deed...) I texted her father(*rolls eyes) who lives in Washington and told him to have a talk with his daughter.Quote: rxwineQuote: AxelWolfI texted my niece who's in her early 20 and Pregnant and lives in Las Vegas to see how she was doing and see if she has prepared and needed anything. She isn't working and her guy only makes $15 to $18 an hour.Quote: rxwineDRich said somewhere, something like existence is meaningless or pointless. But I believe his response is backward. The ultimate challenge is to look into bleakness, blackness of meaninglessness and still want to go on.
I told her she should take the serious and think about storing food and other essential things and to let me know if she needed anything.
This is was her exact quote, " I've been watching the news and I'm well aware of what's going on, I don't think this will last long, everything is opening back up in a few weeks"
I asked her a few questions. How is it you think it'll magically just disappear in a couple weeks and they will the open everything up? Was my first question along with some others. It's been over an hour and she hasn't responded back.
Most of us are going to have some degree of stress reaction as this extends over days and weeks.

Assuming, I can get extra food and things, I'll pick up as much as I can for those care about who may need it.
I assume getting things like boost, and Ensure would be a good idea and it seems to be available. I wonder if that's because it's expensive? I have a feeling today it's going to be an absolute Madhouse trying to shop for anything.

Web-cams are hard to find and suffering price gouging. Very few available for quick delivery from amazon. I managed to get the last one from a tiny local retailer who hadn't realised his mark up was too low $:o)
So now, family get-togethers will be by video conference.

Not what I'm talking about. It's a coordinated international response team.
But also, a lot of couples are going to find out they don't really like each other. It's one thing to have a relationship where each can have different hobby's and friend groups. But when couples [plus children] get quarantined for a month or two, look out.

Probably overall yes, it has to be so. Just depends on the individual women, some with good instincts will not want to have a child with such an uncertain future.Quote: petroglyphIn nine months there will be a bunch of baby's born.

We still kind of have that. No team is going to handle what is supposedly happening right now.
Being uncertain of the future and procreating is more proof that we are hard wired to reproduce in uncertain times. The more iffy the future the more offspring a species create.Quote: onenickelmiracleProbably overall yes, it has to be so. for a split second there I thought "instinctual" was a different word that starts with an IN and kind of sounds like it.Quote: petroglyphBeing uncertain of the future and procreating is more proof that we are hard wired to reproduce in uncertain times. Not at this point. If the Earth's population represented 1 living organism we're already well beyond a localized infection.

I agree! I started researching possible treatments for COVID-19 and it seems there are several promising drugs, expecially hydroxychloroquine and its variants.

Why not just kill everyone on their 65th birthday?
They're the most vulnerable anyway, and are the ones sucking up all the health care resources, right?

They are saying that has to go for 14 days before the situation in china is considered safe.
So are we basically waiting for there to be zero new cases reported here in the states AND THEN going to go another 14 days of closures?

How do we know that someone who has it on day 1 of the zero new cases doesn’t transmit it to someone else on let’s say day 11 of the 14 days, and then that person is still infected and spreading it well after the 14 days Is over.
Bill Ackman on CNBC might have had it correct today. Only a drastic 30-40 day “everyone stays in their house” period can truly end this.
And how long do we keep international travel restricted? As long as the virus still exists anywhere in the world , it can be transmitted to someone in America. That’s how it started here in the first place. So we get to 0 people infected , then someone from Poland travels here and infects someone, then the whole thing starts over again.

If you think there is one section of China where they eat wild animals just because they catch one, you're wrong. Not only this, they don't like to refrigerate food because it's part of Chinese medicine to eat food at room temperature or before they cook it. China is a country as big as the US geographically.

China is on lockdown. They even welded apartment buildings shut so infected could not leave
The 14 days from now with zero cases was for that situation
And yes reinfected is a serious concern
Which brings me back to my own concern about where we are heading with our own closures
Quote: darkozChina today had zero new cases for the first time
No. China REPORTED that they had zero new cases.
A subtle but significant difference.

I was talking to my cousin about this a couple of days ago. He's an MD who is board certified in both Trauma and Pathology and is licensed to practice medicine in the US, UK, and a few other places so he has a pretty good feel for what's going on both down in the trenches as well as in the research labs. His take was that a treatment is much more likely to than a vaccine.
P.S. He also said he has very little confidence in any statistics reported by China and is constantly rejecting papers by Chinese researchers that he is asked to review for the medical journals.

What subtle difference are you making?
EDIT: oh, I see you are implying they may not be reporting properly
True

The difference between what is reported and what is actually going on?
[EDIT} ahh you caught that before I could post. Never mind.
Although I exhibit symptoms of the Coronavirus some symptoms were asymptomatic. I had symptoms not listed while missing some symptoms that are specific to Coronavirus
As I was starting to freak out I also celebrated the last day of taking antibiotics for election dental surgery I had and the old bell went off in my head.
Sure enough all the symptoms I had were associated with this particular antibiotic.
Not taking it and already I feel much better
(And yes I did finish all the medication)
