Catching up to this thread. And i'm nearly evenly liking posts on the typical opposing sides. Food stamps can definitely get abused. I remember one time as a grocery store cashier, a guy that claimed he was a doctor (no one definitely feels sorry for you if you say that), tried to buy steamed seafood on food stamps, which was illegal. If you want to buy it yourself with food stamps, you have to fully cook it.

Most of the time though, I was correctly predicting EBT (SNAP) beneficiaries in my head just by the way they dressed.

And did they usually buy terribly expensive items? No.

Were they wasteful by shopping at the store I worked at? Possibly. But we didn't have a Walmart Supercenter nearby; only a regular Walmart.

McConnell now says it doesn't have the votes to pass. They criticize Democrats for supposedly voting ten years ago for a similar bill while they can't repeat a vote taken just last week.

As you all know, I'm not a huge Trump fan ever since CNN told me not to because he makes fun of witches with the term "witch hunt" (whether or not that's derogatory to witches is another story, but let's just pretend it is derogatory). I also agree with people who wanted to impeach Trump before he was even in office, because that's totally how it works <thumbs up emoji>. HOWEVER, no matter how biased I am against Trump, even I have to admit, that's a pretty bad-a** poster.

Look at 777’s number of posts compared to his suspensions and frequency. Take into account what else been posted by him (practically nothing). In his last 5 pages of posts (20 posts per page? 25?), he has maybe 6 posts that aren’t related to Trump or politics of some sort. Finally maybe a non-political post in the Vegas Haiku thread, but big surprise, it’s all about Trump bashing.

My post was not meant to be an insult to the esteemed doctor from the Buffalo area. But he had talked about in a thread on establishing a residence in PA to avoid NY taxes. It's a tax avoidance strategy that is quasi-legal in that should NY investigate (as we warned him) they might determine that his tax was due in NY.

It's scamming. Just like rich people who park their money offshore or people who take payments in cash to avoid tax. Or don't report every cent in income according to US tax code. And to be fair I would consider all of those measures in any situation inhaolen to be in. In fact I've done it to benefit myself on the order of tens of thousands of dollars. It's wrong.

My point was that some us us look at the poor and single them out as (insert insult here) for spending their welfare money on junk food.

They all have access roads, and all the wheelers use them. They put up a fence, wheelers cut a path around. Drop a rock in the path, a new one gets cut. Dig a ditch across that, wheelers bog through. Fell a tree on that, wheelers jump over. Despite all the efforts, the desire is stronger than the deterrent, and this is just for the fun of tearing around, say nothing of something as crucial as livelihoods. The only way you'll keep me out of Canada or off CSX property is to have every access manned, and the cost of such an operation far outweighs whatever "damage" my presence causes otherwise.

A wall might prevent abuelita from hobbling across, but again, static barriers are laughable. I've been hearing stories of underground highways since the 80's. Ladders exist. On and on we can go. A wall also needs manpower, and if we had the manpower to cover that much wall, we wouldn't need the wall.

I hear tell that most illegals (most meaning a majority) come by way of overstaying permissions. Dunno how high that wall's supposed to be, but I think Southwest will continue to clear it.
