Whew yesterday was tough. We went to an amusement park. Before we left I ate a huge omelette with 4 eggs and tons of cheese and veggies. We have season tickets to the park which include drinks and food. I was going to take my own food because I didnt think there would be anything but at the last moment I decided to just eat there. Well there wasnt anything that I could eat. They had grilled chicken salad but were out of it. They have a Johnny rockets but I didnt feel like spending $12 on a bunless burger so I just didnt eat. I was fine with that except when the kids finished their meals they of course had left overs so it was tough to not eat their chicken fingers or mac and cheese or fries.

So I made it through dinner and didnt have any pop. My parents came with us because it was bring a buddy day. So since they were there they offered ice cream. So again I had to fight with myself over not eating ice cream. I was able to resist and went the entire day with only having water. We got home around 11 and I had a bowl of tuna fish and went to bed.

It was a really tough day but I made it through.

Nice, man.

Sounds like you're family could be more supportive but that's tough. I've been that guy myself, saying, come on, have one desert. I didn't get it.

You could try saying something like look, I want to be around when the kids get married. This is both important to me and difficult for me.

But it is hard for people to accept and understand, for various reasons. Probably, you'll just have to deal with it. One way is to make a running joke out of it. You're the keto Nazi. You're going to go halel soon. Etc

I had to condition my beloved to expect me to get very angry with her if she offered me deserts, seconds, cake etc. Strangely she figured I wouldn't want nookie either. Hmmmf.
I eventually went on the Jack Daniels diet. Lost 3 days in just one week.

Hi Gwae,
That's a pretty unhealthy weight my friend, unless you are 9 feet tall.
Well done so far.
You seem to have had some pretty aggressively lean eating days, but I doubt that is the healthiest or most sustainable approach.
Remember the HotBlonde weightloss challenge? I'd like to incentivise you (Not take money off you ) What is your target weight and timescale?
Maybe we could set up some sort of race with a very modest prize?
Reading your posts, I get the impression pop, syrup, and deserts are a BIG problem

Thanks for pointing out that I am fat, I already know that silly ;-)

Funny thing about HB. I had offered 2 bets previous and because of HB I had no takers. I would have lost horribly both times.

As for goal I dont really have one. Inam taking it 1 step at time. The last 2 times I was trying to get to 220. I think eventually I would like to be 220. Technically I am supposed to be 188 or something but I don't think I will ever be there and I am not too concerned about being there.

Right now my goal is to hit 269. Once I get there I will shoot for 250, then 220. I am being ultra aggressive and I hope to continue that. I know it is not the healthiest but its gotta be a hell of a lot better than pop, chips, and fast food.

Rig.. I will respond to your post later, gotta run, going to the pool

HB somewhat poisoned the well. I'd offer a genuine incentive where neither of us could lose (apart from a few cents and some loss of face)

I think you need to record and commit to a goal, if you are not to slide. 220 would be something to be very proud of from where you are now. IMHO.

Whatever works for you. Not at all sure about the ultra aggressive.
It took me years to get out of a range 198-204, but when it started to work ( about Dec) it worked well. I still want to lose 7-10 pounds, or at least get fit.

Maybe I’m not too unedumucated to know but my concern would also be that keto probably good to lose weight but doesn’t feel good that sustainable to virtually starve off fruits and any grain, idk just seems it will be challenging to avoid given the typical options. Good pace so far gwae!

Family is pretty supportative. My wife needs to lose some as well. We have been on diets together in the past but she isnt ready right now, which is fine because I understand. had the extra motivation that I was getting towards 300 and I didnt want that to happen.

When I told her that I was doing this she wasnt thrilled because she thinks it is unhealthy. I said well it sure as hell isnt worse than killing ourselves with all this pop. So she said fine. I honestly think she figured I would never go through with all this prep and extra work. The other day she started to get annoyed with tried to convince me that I should just do weight watchers or something because she thinks the cholesterol is too much. I pulled up an article showing the eating like this increases hdl and hdl eats ldl so really this diet is better for your arteries. Of course I could probably find an article saying the exact opposite.

Originally I was doing this diet for 10 days. I have changed my plans. I am doing this until next Sunday which will be 14 days. On Sunday I am having a cheat day because we have an event. I will get back on it for a week and then we go to Atlantic city so I will have a week break before I get back on it. I know I should stay on it but for vacation I don't want to stress about it.

Discovered Shirataki noodles today. Will be trying them tomorrow. Got a package at the Asian store. I am not doing keto but more paleo however these things are definitely keto. Thought I would throw this out there for those looking for something to use as a pasta.

My sister lost like 60lbs and ate a ton of these. They have somehow smell fish-like but taste pretty much like nothing, but kind of have the texture of pasta. They seem kinda gross right out of the package but the grossness goes away once you cook them and add sauce.

Now off to help someone move and attempt to not drink beer. This is were smoking weed would be helpful. No calories in that. Too bad it disgusts me.

What exactly do you think is wrong with Keto/GWAae’s diet?

Threads have got a bit tangled, so replying here with my thinking about Keto and GWAE's experience of it.
Reading the comments below, it seems that GWAE is going through hell, tortured by temptation and not with family fully on board. I Really congratulate him on his success so far. Impressive. But I side with his wife. I commend him to wave goodbye to Keto, on friendly terms and continue his quest with a more regular balanced diet approach.
Yes. I've described my more tempting meal in that other thread. (That's what that other thread is about) I'm just trying to get him to see the alternative to keto doesn't have to be veggieburgers and tofu.
Also, I disagree with him that "BK is the Nutz"

You're way out of line. And off the mark. You think he wouldn't be tempted to drink Pepsi if he wasn't on keto? Why is that?

Jesus.

Yes he is excited about what he is eating. He has said so. He is a sugar addict so the fact that he still wants Pepsi has nothing to do with keto. Nor would it have to do with nutri system or vegan or whatever. It has to do with pepsi. However, a diet that breaks sugar addiction and cuts out junk food will work best.

Bk is not a great choice, but what he ate there should be OK. Ground beef, cheese and lettuce. BFD. you don't have to eat perfectly all the time to still have a positive overall framework.

But, you DO need a plan or a direction. How many people say, I'm trying to eat better. And they skip a desert here and there. Do many of them loose 80lbs?

Moreover, if someone is making a vast improvement in their life in a serious area, you shouldn't try to tinker and henpeck. Let them progress.

If a raging alcoholic can switch to weed and stop drinking, you don't tell him to give up weed. If a meth addict is smoking, but off meth... Etc.

Not that keto is akin to smoking. I've yet to see evidence it does any damage and it seems to have many benefits.

Good rule of thumb for this thread.

Positive suggestions are good. "Eat lots of pickles. They are good for your gut and have like 10 calories and almost no net carbs. "

Tearing down someone's success to prove how smart you are is bad. "That diet that you lost 20 pounds on is not what I would do. Therefore you should abandon it."

I googled it and considered it when I wanted to lose weight. It was not for me, as I saw it as a good enough way to kick start weight loss, but not a lifestyle change I'd personally adopt. If it works for GWAE, more power to his elbow.
Quote:

Gwae has expressed a tendency to drink lots of sugary drinks. If he resolves that sweet tooth, he might be well on his way to lifelong success even without Keto or any other rigid diet. That his Keto diet is locking him out of glugging the Pepsi and maybe the beer, is a big plus for that regime.
If I were to give specific advice, it would be to consult a dietician, or at least research the strengths and weaknesses of various diet regimes. Keto has strengths, especially at this early phase. But it's tough. Gwae knows how tough.

Does anyone have any novel ideas for non-alcoholic drinks for when out drinking with friends? Non alc beer just doesn't appeal, nor does cola.

Yup, I have one. They work well and the CO2 canisters last a long time. You can exchange them at Walmart.

lol. There are definitely a minimum of 3-4 keto approved (tm) affiliate marketers in this thread...my number one specific problem with the diet I guess would be the dogmatism of the disciples, that smug is bad for the environment.

I'm not that dogmatic about keto. I figure our bodies are pretty adaptable and there are a number of healthy diets.

But just don't tell someone having success with it to quit because you know, without doing any research, that it is bad. To me, that's dogmatic.

I am jihad about fasting though.

Glad you didn’t take it the wrong way. Felt like a dick after posting it, meant to be sarcastic.

I guess the thing I don’t like is the reasoning behind avoiding most fruit, extreme avoidance of carbs is to force you to use fat as fuel, not because those foods are bad for you. I actually like eating paleo af (tm) for spells that pic you posted looked awesome. Again paleo tough to maintain but doesn’t seem extreme. Also these diets rank pretty low compared to most when you do the random google search rankings type articles

Nah. There are a few Peruvian places in town.

I had pickles and some good cheese.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
No Peruvian restaurants here, so I'll probably have to do the chicken myself and get the sauce from Amazon.... The Amazon pass through Peru? That's fortuitous.

I’m going to embark on a 365-day juice cleanse diet to rid my body of toxins. I’ll also be eating Swedish nutrition bars that Cady recommends.

Have you tried Arepas yet? Venezuelan style chicken cooked over wood. One at Rainbow and Charleston and 1 on LVB just north of Stratosphere. I know you would like it. If you haven't yet, the first one is on me.

Weighed in this morning at 282.1. Down 9.7 pounds in the first week. Would be nice if that was sustainable. I am not sure what I should expect this week but 2.2 pounds would be ok with me to get me under 280.
