(I did say being so close to opening we would get more information, but I wasn't expecting so much as once!)
Ocean Resort Casino has announced their tier match program. They are only matching Atlantic City casinos. Here is the chart of what each tier will upgrade you to at Ocean Resort.
Tips: If you don't have any of the cards that can get you automatically to the Black tier, you may have options:
If you have Total Rewards Diamond, bring that to Golden Nugget. They will upgrade you to Elite, which is worth Black at Ocean. Golden Nugget does however give you a special "Trade Up Elite Card" valid for 3 months, which it has not been determined yet if Ocean will accept. Note: This upgrade is only valid from June 1 - 30.
Another option would be is if you are a Pennsylvania player and have Parx Elite or Sugarhouse Signature, I am confidently assuming you would be upgraded to Hard Rock Rock Royalty based upon the room comp tier match they are offering. You could take either of those cards to Hard Rock first for that upgrade, which can then be upgraded to Black tier at Ocean Resort.
The very polite agent asked for my name, DOB, etc to pull up my Revel information. Based on my Revel play, she was able to offer me a casino rate that was $150 less than their rack rate, but wasn't something I was interested in. I mentioned I would be participating in their tier match and would be their Black tier based on my 7 Stars status with CET. She then mentioned, based on that she would pass my information over to player development who would give me a call first thing Monday to set my stay up.
So, if anyone is interested in setting up a stay at Ocean, give them a ring. Good to know they actually have a player development team now. My first call to them back in late April or early May, they said they didn't have any hosts yet.
I was never a huge fan of Revel for a number of reasons, but my gut tells me Ocean just may get it right. They have the luxury of knowing everything that failed with Revel and the opportunity for a completely clean slate to correct them. Only time will tell...
Quote: Jmarch79I called Ocean Resort Casino today to inquire about a room for one night of their opening weekend. I thought as I am already booked at Hard Rock for two nights, it would be a good to try both hotels out to get the full experience.

Well from what you've reported here, it seems like they are making the same mistakes Revel did already. I don't know how much less you played at Revel than CET, but rack rate -$150 is an insult from a property that should be looking for gamblers. (Gamblers wanted!) If you didn't helpfully volunteer that you were 7-stars at Caesars, they could have lost a valuable player forever before the place even opened.
Aside from that, does anyone know if Ocean plans to keep the Sky Garden intact from Revel with the pine trees and the firepits, accessible from the hotel hallway without going through the pool? That was one of my favorite places in AC.

I agree with you. In their defense though, my play at Revel started very strong and dwindled over time due to an inexperienced host and lackluster service across the entire property. It was truly amateur hour every trip there and it just became an annoyance. Currently though, I do think they should ask players on the phone where they play now, and what tier they are. Based on that information, screen what calls should be transferred over to player development. Like you said, if I didn't offer the information of my 7 Stars status, they would have disconnected the call and went on to the next one.
I would bet they are keeping the Sky Garden. Not sure what else they could put there. I completely agree with your sentiment, it was an awesome spot just to relax for a minute with a drink.
Ultimately I don't care what casinos look like as long as they offer +EV plays, but it's always a bonus if I'm impressed with everything else while I'm there.
Quote: AxelWolfI'm already disappointed after seeing the carpet in the sports book. That makes me think they are going to change the entire decor and feel of the casino. That's one of the things I liked best about the casino. It was just a cool impressive place when it opened.

I'm with you. Not a huge fan of the new carpet either. I do believe they are keeping the basic design though...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised once they open. Now if they only had an elevator that dropped you from the hotel to the floor without having to go over the river and through the woods, that would be awesome.
Quote: jerrysnjI think Hard Rock is way ahead of Ocean Resorts at this time. Ocean Resorts doesn’t even have a casino license yet though they are on the June adgenda with the CCC. They have the best showroom in town but haven’t announced a single show yet whereas Hard Rock has an extensive show lineup already. Their website needs a lot of work and gives very limited info on dining. I hope they prove me wrong but I can’t imagine they will be fully up and running on June 28. They are still actively recruiting applicants for several job openings. I think come June 28 Hard Rock is rolling strong while Ocean Resorts will start out slow.
Thanks Jerry. I hope you post more over here as you have a ton of AC knowledge that would be helpful.

You're absolutely correct. I can almost guarantee they will be opening short staffed and therefore, some of the amenities/dining options may not open when the property actually opens. I also said from the beginning their hiring process seemed rushed (a ton of open calls with hiring on the spot.) Hard Rock's hiring seemed very planned and they were trying to get the best of the best "Rock Stars" as they call them. They were also at least three months ahead with hiring than Ocean. My main issue with mass hiring in a crunch is you typically don't get the best of the best, and that was one of Revel's major downfalls - inconsistent levels of service.
Opening resorts of this size is not an easy task and there will definitely be bumps in the road. My fingers are crossed for both properties (and my toes are crossed for Ocean as well.)
Information is on their website is limited, but there is a little 30 second teaser video here.
