Reminder there is another Jeopardy online test at 5PM Pacific time today. Per an Email I just received, I'm properly registered and am planning to crash and burn in six hours.

No, I'm afraid I'll embarrass myself with how badly I do.

Pass big helpings of crow and humble pie, not to mention the dunce cap. I'm going sit in the corner and feel sorry for myself for a while after the beating I just took on that test. At least I didn't record it.

In the same boat as you as it was much harder than I thought it would be.

I wonder if everyone had the same test or we all got 50 random questions?

Did you have one where the answer was Ty Cobb for sports for The Georgia Peach?

I took it, too, and I did record it, but I bombed so badly I'm not up for posting it unless someone HAS to see it.

Yes, I had the Ty Cobb question.

I missed 18 for sure, 2 I'm not sure if they'll give me credit, so between 30 and 32. Horrible for getting on the show.

whats worse, I gave away 7 where I knew the answer but blanked at the time, Arggghh.

If anyone wants the answers to the ones I missed, they're behind the spoiler below. Which is where the video will go if anyone wants to see it. But id rather transcribe the test than have people listen to my choking on allergies and sniffling while I took it.

1`. dumas (knew this, went blank)
2. lady. cat.idk...monster! auggh (too late)
5. red dead redemption
7. rossini (knew this, went blank)
10. chevron
11. billions
12. william the conqueror (knew this, went blank)
14. hansberry
15. bangladesh
20. spotnitz
26. penultimate (knew this, went blank)
30. antarctica (should have made a better guess and gotten this)
35. achilles (knew this, went blank)
39. noble gases (I read the question wrong - thought it said 6-letter name. couldn't think of a one that met that. arggh.) EDIT: people are saying the answer is halogen. which is what i was going to write, but it had seven letters. Auggh.
40. woodwinds (maybe they will accept reeds, idk, went back and forth)
44. flamenco may have been correct, but could also be fandango. idk.
47. class
48. idk. "It can mean to underwrite a business venture, or the wad of paper money to do so". total blank EDIT: bankroll. augghh!!!
49. a farewell to arms
50. donald glover

Exact same questions based on your spoilers.

I did get some of those right but missed plenty others. I’m thinking I was around 23-27 correct. I suck.

Yes. I had no clue on that one and guessed Joe Dimaggio.

I'm quite sure that everyone for a given day gets the same test.

I strongly suspect there is cheating like crazy on these tests. If anyone in my house could help, I would have been tempted. Actually, my son plays the oboe and he might have helped on that one, but I think I got it right anyway.

I'm responding to Aye here, and will use this thread to post any news I get, good or bad.

He asked what I was doing to prepare.

There's a trivia site called alpaca that I've been using a little the last couple years. A lot of past Jeopardy people are on there. So the quizzes are sort of tougher than something like the general trivia apps.

I'm ramping up playing there some, just to get my brain going. I like how James suggested the children's department of the library for basic and digestible facts on a lot of subjects. Might do that.

I also have about 50,000 trivia cards from trivia pursuit sets. I'm going to start using them for every day flash card drills if Jeopardy confirms I'm still invited to audition. But haven't heard yet, though it's the first business day back from Easter week (and since I replied last Sat), so I'm giving it a few days.

Actually, lucky you did not get the updated text.

That one says you are responsible for your own expenses, have to bring your own buzzer. Bottled water will be available at $10 per bottle, and Alex Trebek will gladly chat with you for an extra $100.

They have to make the money back somehow.

wait so if you are asked to go to LA you are still NOT guaranteed to get on the show. I would be soooo pissed if i was told to come to LA and then I still didnt get on. They film 5 shows a day so 10 people are needed. I wonder if you are told to be there on Monday. If you don't get on Monday do you get to stay for Tuesday or are you SOL. I knew you had to pay to get there and such but I assumed once you are invited you would be at least getting 1k so trip should be paid for.

They don't want to guarantee you will be on the show for many reasons. There may be a problem with the show that was taped that prevented it from being used. They may determine that one contestant was too douchy to put on TV. They may look at you when you arrive and decide not to use you for whatever reason. They may have already put on 4 female body builders and are looking for some diversity. There may be a fire in the studio that precludes taping that day.

They want to make sure that you are fully aware that making the trip does not guarantee anything.

So. Today is audition day. Trying to wake up enough to get my act together and take it on the road. Lol.

I've been doing an hour or two of trivia games and looking up odd facts and categories each day in preparation. Yesterday, I took Mom and we went for haircuts and mani-pedis. I figure it's a tv show, I should look my best, and it's almost Mom's birthday, so I treated as an early present.

Otherwise, I figure it's what you know at this point that will either get you past the 2nd test or not. So I got a good night's sleep, and hope to show up with a sparkle in my eye and a smile on my face.

It's about 3 hours south to the audition. Setting out pretty soon, plan to be early. Got my letter and forms in hand. They ask a lot of questions about who you know that might have been on tv, when you were ever on any show, have you ever been convicted of a felony, the usual questions. Lol.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Thanks for the update and I look forward to the next one. My advice, having never made it on a TV game show (so what do I know?) is to be yourself and have fun with it.
