The pooled parlay is a dumb idea.

Also, will the game pause with soopoo unavailable? Is anyone able to think for themselves, or nah?

Quote: OnceDear

Some, like me are pooling for the purpose of thia game, but withdrawing before the proposed parlay.
Game surely won't pause. We have enough APers here to deduce and conspire on strategy.

I am in the same position as Once Dear. To be clear: there are two separate decisions.

1. Will you pool winnings and split/share the cash in the pool with other people that enter the pool? I have said I will. I think this is a commitment that many of us have made on this thread that we need to keep faith with.

2. Will you agree that your share of the pool winnings will go into the parlay bet that the group agrees to? I am in favor of doing this, but I am reserving judgment until I know the specifics. Anyone should feel free, IMO, to take their winnings directly, although things like PayPal fees are kind of a disincentive.

(Is it possible to pay via Amazon gift cards to avoid the PayPal fees?)

I was trying to make this same distinction earlier. Seems still not clear.

The game will end. The pool players will split their collective winnings. The non-pool people will have their money. All on account with the Wizard.

THEN, as a separate transaction, players from either can agree to have their winnings combined into a group bet, or take their (probably less than $10 each, but who knows yet) winnings and go home.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

You can send money through PayPal using the friends option for no fee can’t you? I know you used to be able to do that unless they have recently changed it.

I recently tried to send OD a small amount by Paypal via the friend to friend option and they wanted to charge me a fee that I felt was pretty high compared to the amount being transferred. I don't recall the percentage, but I hope OD won't mind me saying that I guilted* him into letting me donate the money to charity that he won from Clue, which I matched, by the way. Within the same country, I believe there is still no fee and I prefer to pay that way. I can also do Bitcoin.

In other news, I will be giving you all about a week to put in your round 4 picks, after I announce the round 3 results and rules for round 4.

I don't understand that. Sending money via the friends and family option has always been free if you use funds on your account.

Did you see the last thread where this happened? lol... if they're below average they'll get $1... if they're above average they'll get $3... what is this thought some people have that there are 'big winnings' people might want to 'keep and not risk' or something? If $3 will make someone's month, I'm sure anyone could pan handle for $3 in the time they've dedicated towards participating in this thread...

So team 2 and team 7 get $10/2 = $5 / 4 = $1.25

Had team 2 and 7 shared, the prize pool would be $20 / 7 = $2.85 / 4 = $0.71... so team 2 and 7 got an extra 50 cents to f*$* everyone over. Good one guys. Real clever. You got us all real good... This is why we can't have nice things.

Sorry the formatting of the round 3 table was screwed up. I just fixed it.

Let's keep the rules the same in round 4 as round 3, except I'll double the pot to $20. However, if nobody steals, I'll double it to $40. Here are the round 4 teams. As usual, name listed first is the team captain. Votes will be due at 9 AM Vegas time on July 12. So you have plenty of time to cooperate.

IN round #3, onenicklemiracle was one of the captains. Through an exchange of PMs I learned that onenicklemiracle had submitted all his votes in advance and had voted STEAL for every round. (You can see his post on page 17 of this thread in which he said he intended to vote STEAL for every round.)

So, I realized that Wizard had laid a trap for us. He offered $20 if all the captains voted Share, but he also knew that one of the captains had already voted in advance and had voted Steal.

So I realized there was no way for us all to win the $20. I voted STEAL for Team #2 because most of the players on our team had pledged to pool their winnings at the end of the game.

I'll accept that. But since the group let Mike off of the hook my interest has waned. I will either be voting steal or informing my captain of my intention to want my team to vote steal for the rest of the game. To vote share only works when you can count on other teams or members, which obviously you can't.

3 SOOPOO, billryan, Ayecarumba, prozema, Jmarch79 share
4 miplet, PokerGrinder, GWAE, Torghatten, gamerfreak share
5 Dalex64, MaxPen, OnceDear, Keeneone share
6 Mikey75, SM777, beachbumbabs, Romes, MidwestAP share
7 onenickelmiracle, Nathan, Joeman, UKMark steal

Congratulations to teams 2 and 7 for splitting the pie only two ways. Commiserations to the other five teams.

If there were dissenting votes on teams 2 or 7, they got some ‘splaining to do. Speak up now, or we will have no choice but to assume you were in for taking our milk money.

But that's exactly what the Wizard wants! :)

I think this type of thinking will lead to everyone stealing, and no one getting anything. Remember if 5 or more teams STEAL, then everyone involved gets less than if everyone shared. Sharing is still the way to maximize long term EV, if we can get the team captains on board. What say ye, Captains?

Here comes the chaos.

Bottom line is each round has to be played differently. Now everyone is going to vote steal this week which will cost everyone the entire pool. This is the week we really need cooperation to make sure we get the $20 bonus $40 total. That's a buck each and more than makes up for the $10 last week.

So please everyone share this round

I was planning on voting SHARE until I verified that onenicklemiracle had voted STEAL in advance. I plan to put my winnings in the pool at the end.

If you want to be angry or feel burned, may I suggest that you aim your emotions at our wickedly clever Wizard? He was aware that onenicklemiracle had voted STEAL in advance for all the rounds and he appointed onenicklemiracle as a captain - and then announced a $20 award if all of the captains voted Share.

Team#5 had no option to vote Share - they had already voted STEAL. We (on Team#2) had an option but we thought it was in everyone's best interest for us to vote Steal since I and others on the team had pledged to pool at the end, and we were unsure whether Team 5, or any other team that had tumbled to the situation, would pool as much as we would.

Team Players Vote
1 Jufo81,Torghatten,MaxPen,gordonm888,miplet ?
2 gamerfreak,prozema,Dalex64,SOOPOO,MidwestAP ?
3 PlayYourCardsRight,Romes,OnceDear,MidwestAP,Keeneone ?
4 Joeman,onenickelmiracle,Ayecarumba,GWAE,JohnnyQ ?
5 beachbumbabs,AxelWolf,SM777,Jmarch79,UKMark ?
6 PokerGrinder,djatc,DJTeddyBear,billryan,Mikey75 ?
7 Nathan,troopscott,Face,RS ?

hmmm. so, we have a $20 incentive to all share. Let's see what happens with a little quirky bribe....

I'll contribute $6 of my own money to each of the members of my team( team 3 ) on the condition that...
3 of the other teams vote share
and
3 of the other teams vote steal
and
PlayYourCardsRight votes Steal on behalf of my team. [edit corrected name]

That potentially throws $20 back in Wizard's face and 'takes' $30 off me instead.

And I don't know if my team members have committed to pooling their winnings at the end...

So, there's now either $20 up for grabs off Wizard, $40 up for grabs off Wizard, or $50 up for grabs off Me and Wizard
...
and you get to 'stick it to that Limey moderator'.... Hmmm. Am I selling this opportunity too well?

I'm calling hornswaggle.

Rule 11 States:
Quote: Wizard

11. Players may submit votes in advance if necessary due to being on vacation.

onenickelmiracle has posted throughout the day on all voting days, so him voting in advance was not "necessary due to being on vacation" as the rule requires

So, based on the original rules set forth, I am arguing that onenickelmiracle's single steal vote for the entire game is invalid.

Interesting proposition, but... shouldn't you be saving your money to pay your 'fair share' to NATO? ;)

I still agree to the original "Soopoo" deal (ie. maximize payout for the majority). Share winnings, pool winnings, and parlay at the end.

I am a proud ploppie.

I’m amused that everyone is fighting about such silly things. Mike has set out to accomplish something and he has done exactly that. Congrats Mike

This game is going turn into a bunch of grown men (mostly) arguing and bickering about pennies. I’m amused lol.

Let's not turn this into a trump thread or a talking loblocks thread. We have plenty of those.

Fact is. I've committed to that offer. Let's see who's paying attention and who's up to co-operating

I bet Mike gets out the Monopoly on Christmas Day and some of the family are still not talking to each-other by Thanksgiving.
The fun has barely begun. Who knows, this could Unite America, or even bring about world peace.... Or not.
Wonder who will get suspended first as a direct consequence of this thread?
