I think you need to take a deep breath, hold it a bit, let it out slowly, and repeat a few times.

LOL. You mean you don't have a side bet with Satan of eternal youth for a win versus your mortal soul for a loss.

Sorry for the tardy posting of the round 6 results. Here they are.

Pick Count Percent
$1 23 67.6%
$2 11 32.4%
Total 34 100.0%

A very unselfish round. I'm impressed by the lack of greed of most of the group. Still, as a group, you left a bit on money on the table this time.

Of the 38 players in the game, here are some details on their record:

Low every time: 12
Mixture: 22
High every time: 4

I think this game has been truly saved by the 31.6% of players who have gone low every time. This was something I would have never predicted. If I were one of them, I might feel taken advantage of by the four players going high ever time. I might be tempted to go high to teach them a lesson as opposed to enabling them.

Let's hear it from you 12 "always low" players. Why do you keep doing it?

Enough analysis. Let's take it easy again in round 7 and save the excitement for round 8. Choices for round 7 will be $1` and $2 again. Picks will be due 9 AM Vegas time on Saturday.

I think the biggest problem is the people who don't let us know they bid or forget to bid at all.

I think there's a fun back story to that question. I've no objection at all to the elimination of a persistent non-bidder, 'cos that will help us.
Similarly I've no problem keeping in the careless sods who missed the odd deadline. Unanticipated consequence of the listed declarations is that you might have felt yourself backed into a position of outing a game spoiler.

Thanks for the game.

I just submitted my bid, but had to do it twice for technical reasons.

I originally submitted a two character message: Just a dollar sign and a number. I got an error stating that the message was too short.

Apparently I've always added a brief comment, because I never saw that error before.

I've been thinking about this too. I think the bottom line is that it's not really a choice between low and high. If I had bid high every time we would have missed the one a couple rounds ago. The way I see it it's really a choice between low and zero since there are a sufficient number of weasels bidding high each round.

I will go for the single dollar this round, and am pre - announcing my high selection for the final round. I am now thinking I may use the money to buy Megabucks or Powerball lottery tickets. If I win the jackpot I will then host a Vegas party with all those that participated in this cooperation game invited.

How generous of you!!! How do you seep at night? Ah yes, you have plenty of access to propofoll.

I bid 1 dollar each round, and will be again this round. I bid that because someone has to in order for everyone to win. If there had been a successful collaboration established where we could share the high bids, I would have enjoyed having my turn at it, especially since people can't seem to agree on equity sharing the eventual pot. But acting individually there's no other logical choice.

Funny how this forum is so enthusiastic about team sports like NFL games, but when it comes time to act like a team, it doesn't happen. There's as much a need for the nose guard or right tackle as there is for the quarterback or running back, but the latter 2 make the big bux and get the attention. Guess that's the model for some of us. Just like everyone who had a past life was Cleopatra or King Solomon. Nobody was ever the kitchen drudge who got killed with a kick in the head while turning the spit.

I'm tired and rambling, sorry. PM sent.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

I have again submitted my pick by P.M., and (once again) I choose not to disclose it because I think that some of the entertainment value is in the uncertainty. I have attempted to update the Round #7 status table, but I could have missed some:

BTW, has anyone done an analysis of the previous round's declared and undeclared picks vs. the outcome? Is it possible to determine whether there were liars? Is it possible to determine whether there was a net lie, as in too many low or too many high picks in the outcome? Is it possible to determine what the "undisclosed" picks were in total (not by individual)?

I would think that it's impossible. People can lie in any direction....even if the numbers came up exactly as declared you could not rule out the possibility that several people lied...for example three people declared low but went high and vice versa.

The way I see it it's really a choice between low and zero since there are a sufficient number of weasels bidding high each round.

Don't you get a sense of schadenfreude when you punish those greedy people who think only of themselves? When an ape in a pack of apes steps out of line, he gets ostracized by the rest. Same is true of lots of animals that form small societies. It could be argued you are doing a disservice to society by enabling those who consistently go high.

TL;DR: I'm always bidding low. I put in my round 4 or round 5 bid. Can someone PM me when the next bid or whatever is due? TYVM

Good. We have you on the ropes Mike!!!
$:o)

Try as you may to stir up unrest, why would we want to 'punish' the whole lot of us just because a few are taking bigger gulps of your money?

The extent to which 'they' are hurting 'us' is nothing to how much 'WE' (all) are hurting 'YOU' LOL.

They are playing the same game, to the same rules. They are not snatching 'our' money, they are snatching yours. So are we all. $:o)
