The Taj Mahal in AC has it's convention suites on the fourth floor, and rooms start on the 14th floor, one level about the 4th. The Taj doesn't have a 5th through 13th floor, so that the top floors appear even taller.
It's a forty story building with guest rooms on the fiftieth floor.

Casinos that cater to Asians will sometimes avoid having floors in the 40s. Or tables that end in "4." Asians are probably the most superstitious group out there. When I was in pest control one refused service the month of Chinese New Year because it was bad luck to kill anything in the house that month, even bugs.

No idea how much truth there is to it, but a hotel manager told me people would once request a room on the 13th floor when they wanted to commit suicide in the hotel, and renaming it the 14th floor was intended to reduce the chances of that activity taking place on their property.

they should have said - "I just ate a tuna sandwich"
no one is going think they may have eaten a land based tuna______________________________(-:/

I've always heard "tuna fish" to mean "tuna salad" - generally canned tuna, mixed with mayonnaise and maybe pickles.
In contrast, "tuna" usually meant a tuna steak or filet - some hunk of tuna meat that wasn't from a can.
A nice (Nice?) pan bagnat sounds amazing right now.
I'll guess it isn't too long until we have plant based "tuna" as an option. When I was in college, the fishing fleets out of Montauk went out each day and usually returned at night. Now they have to travel two or three days just to get to the right fishing grounds and it takes a week to match what used to take a day. That's why three-quarters of the baymen no longer do commercial fishing, and you have fourth-generation fishing families converting to whale-watching expeditions.

This is common in third world prisons. They don't coddle the inmates like they do in Western prisons by letting them watch TV all day and fraternize with the general population. They throw them in a cell and forget about them. Men who spent time in Russian prisons laugh when they get in sentenced to an American prison. They say it's like spending a few years at a Holiday Inn.

in the killing of Marty Duram by his wife a parrot's words become key to the prosecution's case - they believe the parrot witnessed the killing
listen to the YT vid and you can clearly hear the parrot saying "No, No" and then "shut up" and then "get your a** over here now" and then "don't f******* shoot"
"don't f******* shoot" is not very clear in the YT vid - it was much clearer in the TV episode I watched - although they blotted out the word f******
prosecutor's believe Duram's wife was attempting murder suicide but failed to kill herself - she was convicted of his murder partly because of the words of the parrot
below the YT vid is a news story about the murder

the parrot was not a witness - his words were not used in Court
but his words influenced the Prosecutor to go forward with the murder charge - he believed the parrot witnessed the murder and was recounting what was said during the killing
the headline on the Inside Edition YT video is wrong
the Prosecutor considered getting the Parrot's words into Court somehow but ultimately declined to do that
my previous post did not make that clear - my bad -

IMO, the most likely explanation for the recent swarming of drones is that this is some sort of classified test by the U.S. military or intelligence agencies. The strange press releases by the federal government smack of "we can't reveal everything we know but don't worry."

Quote:After losing his chiropractor’s license following allegations that he had misled patients and defrauded insurers out of millions, he dove into an industry with virtually no guardrails or barriers to entry — the shadowy U.S. body trade.
Operating out of a beige strip mall in Las Vegas between a tattoo parlor and a psychic, Nassiri’s new company, Med Ed Labs, acquired corpses from funeral homes and medical schools, then sold or leased them at a markup to groups seeking human remains for medical training, including the U.S. military.
Within just a few years, he had built a national network of suppliers and clients. He also left a trail of scandal and alleged ethical failures, including complaints that he mishandled human remains.
Like in 2023, when a university expressed concern that Nassiri had failed to return nearly 20 feet. Or when he shipped remains in dirty and disintegrating containers, with one box likened to “scrap cardboard.” Or when he supplied a World War II veteran’s body for an event in which members of the public paid $500 to watch it be dissected in a hotel ballroom, drawing the fury of the man’s family.
20 feet of what? Oh…20 feet of 20 feet.

Most people think the reason boxing gloves were first used was to protect the opponent, it was to protect the hands of the puncher.
My local elementary school just had a fundraiser. For a five-dollar donation, you get a book with freebies and bongos.and one special meal- 2 Big Macs, two med fries and soda, and a choice of desserts for $10 or double that for $20. The school raised over $2,000 towards its spring athletics.

In a fist fight, a fighter is much better off using the old-fashioned stance where your clenched fist has the palms facing you It will help prevent broken fingers and usually gives you an opening as your opponent thinks he is fighting a fool. Keep your left arm forward to prevent straight ahead punches , and with your head back.
The modern boxing stance works great, when observing the rules of boxing. It isn't so great in a street fight against a trained fighter.
the drawing for the Mega Million jackpot is over $1 billion
hard to believe but you still wouldn't have an edge playing it unless it goes up by a lot more before the drawing when considering taxes that would be owed
a single ticket now costs $2.00 and there is a one in 302.6 million chance of hitting it and no way of predicting if someone else would hit it at the same time causing the payout to have to be shared
the estimated cash value after taxes are paid is $448 million (at the time the article was written - it's higher now)
the next drawing will be Christmas Eve (tonight) at 11 p.m.
6 times in the history of the thing a player has hit for over $1 billion
this is the 7th highest jackpot in the history of the game

The simulation determines the winner, don't bother playing.
the 1.22 $billion jackpot was hit last night
the total amount is only if he accepts a 30 year annuity payment
if he takes the lump sum he "only" gets about $550 million in cash
and he would owe tax on (depending on the state) about half of it
so, if he did that he would take home about $275 million
nowhere even close to the publicized amount of the jackpot
still not a bad day for a guy who is probably not an AP
he's most likely of the "I'd rather be lucky than good" variety of gambler

I believe you have to file income taxes in both states. You’ll end up paying the higher of the two as you will get a credit from the state where you bought ticket to apply to your state of residence.

Hard to say. Here in PA the PA lottery, at least used to be, PA state tax exempt. So the first thing is does that apply and do other states do it?
Now, states tax transient workers all the time. Sports players get sacked with this all the time. PA winnings are tax exempt to stimulate play and really the state is taking 50% in house edge so do they really need another 3.1%? Well, of course most states will say they do. It is criminal but I can see it happening.

If you are resident of state XX, but buy the ticket in state YY, you have to claim the prize in the state that sold you the ticket according to their law. And you also have to pay taxes to state YY-the state that sold you the ticket-according to their law. As for state XX, that gets into income from two states, which is above my pay grade and laws vary from state to state.

I've met many RVers with SD plates and driver's licenses. That state has gone out of its way to become a haven for the mobile generation. It attracts visitors who normally wouldn't go and collects an annual driver's license fee from people who barely use any state services. I've been told Florida is the next easiest state, although insurance rates are above average.
I had a jar of sundried tomatoes in olive oil. When the last tomato was gone, roughly a third of a bottle of oil was left. I thought it would be perfect for the next grilled cheese sandwich I made. The jar was in my fridge for about a week, no more than ten days at the outset.
When I took it out yesterday, it was more solid than liquid. I was in a rush, so I just threw it out and used jarred olive oil.
If I'd left it out, it would have returned to oil over time, but would it still be usable?

Yes. Most oils get thicker when they get cold.
It wouldn't surprise me if there was something extra going on with the tomato remnants and the oil.
Even thick, frying an egg in a spoonful of it would probably be great.

There is a real problem now with a label saying olive oil but it's actually a blend of different oils. Even buying olive oil in a bottle in the store you never know what you're getting now. Could be half olive oil and half sunflower oil, there's no way of knowing.
