They make "fuel stabilizers" that make it last longer.
Common for storing lawnmowers, snowblowers, and similar seasonal equipment without draining the fuel.
Adding a bottle of Sta-Bil or similar to the fuel may save some headaches.

Not really it only has a 13.2 gallon tank. At my current pace I would go through close to a full tank in a year.

I fill my tank exactly three times a year. In January in May and in September. I drive right around 1000 miles a year. If you don't work, I don't understand where people go. Everything gets delivered to me, even my prescription drugs. I do have to buy liquor but I usually buy a year's worth at a time. When you're retired the only currency you have is time and try and use it wisely. Wasting it driving to the grocery store and wandering around for an hour and driving home is a very poor use of my time and I refuse to do it. Elon Musk says the only real currency we have is time because we use it, we spend it, we only have so much of it, and it is not replaceable.

Ah, no, time is different than currency. You know how much currency you have. And when you die, you can't leave your time to anyone else, and you can't use it anymore.
So use it now! Acquiring knowledge is never a waste. Seek out places and things where you will learn. The most obscure and insignificant things can blossom like fractals and explode into new worlds to explore.

He gets in some trouble in Manchester and spends his time walking around the streets of London at night, talking and interacting with people. In the synopsis of the movie he is supposed to be a not-very-nice man but I see it differently. He is seeking knowledge from all these people and experiences, and that is good. We should all be like that.

For retired people in their mid 70s the list is endless? I have no family here, most of my friends are dead, I haven't eaten out since 2017 and I wouldn't eat out even if somebody else paid for it. Haven't played golf since the seventies, never played tennis, never been to the emergency room, never visit people in the hospital, and if I want to practice with my guns I'll just go out my back door, my wife doesn't let me have a girlfriend, don't have a boat, absolutely hate fishing, I went hunting once in 1973 and hated it.
Speaking of shooting guns, I haven't target practiced in years and I have seven handguns. I'll bet I have 25 lb of ammunition but 20 years ago I stopped seeing the point of wasting it. Somebody breaks into my house you just point your gun and shoot. You don't need any practice to do that so I lost interest in it.

Everything is a waste of time because life has no purpose or point. All you're doing is taking up space and diddling around between your birthday and your death day. But that's another story. I am hardly isolated, I have 16 cats and I communicate with the outside world all the time. Like I'm doing in this post. I'm reading that people are making AI friends online. Some people are appalled but I don't see anything wrong with it. Most real people are extremely boring to talk to and you can't really trust them unless you know them extremely well. What's wrong with an AI friend who can be very interesting and doesn't want anything from you.

Friend is probably the wrong word, it's overused and what does it really mean. AI can be interesting because it has access to tremendous amount of information and can have endless conversations with you about things you're interested in. You can grow and learn by having an AI connection. What it would want in return, it being a machine, I can't imagine. No matter what they say or what we read in science fiction they are never going to be self-aware. They're always going to be a few steps above a talking toaster and that's about it.

Yesterday. Around 10 miles to golf course. Home was around 12 miles as I detoured to pick wifey up requested fast food lunch. Dinner time drove two miles roundtrip to upscale overpriced bar/restaurant with good individual pizzas and friendly young bartendresses. I sometimes walk there but it was just a bit too hot and humid.
Today, a mile or two to the Y, to shoot baskets. Then a mile or two to Wegmans. I am never sure exactly what I want, soi like going instead of ordering on line. If Iwifey wants to go out for dinner, I’m at her disposal.
Probably a 30 miles roundtrip to the casino in the next day or two. A 15 miles roundtrip to see son and granddaughter.
Possibly 60 miles roundtrip to visit wife’s parents at their Lake Ontario home.
Plus more golf. Maybe an emergency trip to Anderson’s for milkshakes? Who knows!
Oh yeah, Sunday graduation party in Lewiston, maybe 40miles roundtrip trip?

At least that's the impression I get from the advice that goes around. You can get shot if you're the first guy they see and you're still holding a gun

I watch quite a few true crime shows - there are tons of them - they've become fantastically popular

these shows surprised me quite a bit for the following reason - until watching I wasn't aware that there were so many female murderers

There still a fair list of countries where women get blamed more for anything going bad. India, Pakistan, many of the Arab countries. Not really good places for equal opportunity murder.

College students will soon be arriving on campus. They were mostly born in 2007.
POLITICS
There has been a minority or female somewhere on the POTUS ticket every election in their lives. Donald Trump has ran in every election they really remember. They have little to no recollection of the Obama administration. Bush43 is history book to them.
GEOPOLITICS
The Iraq War was before they were born. They may remember our pullout from Afghanistan but they had to have it explained to them why we were there and for so long. Putin has always run Russia. The USA has not had a major ground action in their lifetime, meaning they are less war-shy than the kids in college 5 years ago were.
AUTOMOBILES
They do not remember Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Plymouth, Saturn, and probably Mercury. If they hear the term "Big Three Automakers" they might well think it is Toyota, Honda, and Nissan. Gas has mostly been over $3 and always over $2 in their lifetime. SUVs have been "cars" to them growing up. Their family may very well have leased cars not owned them all their life.
TECH
Not only has the internet always been there, the "mature" internet has always been there. Facebook has always been there. Amazon has always been a major power. WiFi has always been everywhere. Cell phones have always been smartphones. When a problem comes up their instinct is to look for an app first.

It's the Sixtieth Anniversary of the Grateful Dead and many members of the tribe have gathered in San Francisco for one final party. The Dead have had more retirement tours than Cher, but this might be the final run.
Phil Lesh's son had a tribute concert to his father last night, and all through the concert, I mentioned how the guitar kept riffing into Allman Brothers chords. My friends didn't notice until I mentioned it, but then it was apparent. Halfway through the set, they introduce the guitarist, who is Duane Betts, son of one of the Allman Brothers members and named after the legendary Duane Allman.
One of the warmup bands was Bertha and the Grateful Drag, an assortment of southern musicians who formed the group in Tennesse after drag shows were banned. They are surprisingly good musicians who manage to incorporate some drag humor into their set but have the attitude down pat. Just some good old boys who don't need nobody telling them what they can do or wear.

The Vietnam War was going full time and all my friends were getting drafted. World War II only ended 22 years ago and the veterans were in their 40s. My dad and most of my friends dads were in the military in World War II.

There were no Asian cars at all and most of the American cars were from the '60s with a few from the 50s. If you had a 5-year-old car it was considered old. If your car had 95,000 miles on it you couldn't sell it because rarely did the car go over a hundred thousand miles. Everything else was rusted and worn out by then anyway.

1967 almost nobody had a color TV they were way too expensive even though the major networks were broadcasting all in color by then. I got my first color tv in 1970 a 16 in Zenith from Sears that cost $400 which in today's money is close to $3,000.
ENTERTAINMENT
We had TV with three channels and the movies in the movie theaters. That was it.
THEM
In 1967 it was the exact opposite, 2/3 of college students were men. If there was a good looking girl on campus she had it made she could date a different good looking guy every day of the week. They were lined up. My wife was in college at the same time and she says that her date card was always full. And hardly anybody in college was having sex yet, that didn't really start till the mid 70s. My wife says that her and her girlfriends in college were all boy crazy because there were so many of them and they were after the girls constantly.
What else?
Jobs were extremely plentiful, there was never any thought of not getting a job after college. The military-industrial complex was in high gear and there was jobs everywhere in every industry and would be until the mid 70s. Even the space industry was booming, they employed thousands and thousands of people mostly in Florida and in California and Texas. That all came to a screeching halt in the mid70s too.

A Husbandry major was far easier back then. As to the jobs thing I wish I knew how to relocate when I was coming up. I thought you needed to have a job lined up and have your own apartment. Nobody ever told me how to hit a town on the cheap, ger a survival job, and pound the pavement. I read an article about 1999 and it told of the 10 worst city economies in the USA. I had managed to live in 4 of them in 10 years! When I lived in WNY in the late 90s it was a very dead place.

I was selling phones for a while around 2000-2003.
Ringtones were big business. People were coming in to see what new phones had what ringtones, and being able to download new ringtones via the ringtone store was huge.
Sensible people just wanted to place and receive calls and texts, but the market was driven by people focused on style rather than substance.

Having low-level jobs when in college.
In the Ivy Leagues it was never really acceptable to have a menial job. To be seen working behind a counter in town or sweeping a floor in a campus building identified you as not born of the class they came to make the lifelong social connections with, and that cost you. But now that most schools are really just finishing schools where you learn to fill some preordained role, with no real academic training required or sometimes even available, that attitude has trickled down to the state college level, and if your peers see you sweeping a floor someplace they're thinking "What, you don't have a father who could get you an internship someplace? You're not one of us. Where is your loyalty going to be, to the Deputy Directors of Digital Research Outreach Coordinators of the world, or some maintenance supervisor?"
I see it even younger too. You don't see a lot of kids working afterschool or summer jobs anymore, especially American ones. Back then to have an afterschool job at Blockbuster or some familiar place was considered awesome because it was an adult thing to do, like drinking smoking and sex. Your neighbors and friends' parents who had always known you and treated you as a child would now come in and interact with you like an adult. You learned adult habits, and felt adult. (Perhaps to the point where you didn't need the drinking smoking and sex to prove it.) Nobody wants to do that anymore.

When I graduated college my plan was to move to a city that was booming because it would be easy to find a job. I moved from Iowa to the most economically booming city in the country at that time, las Vegas NV. I didn't have a job or an apartment I just loaded up a U-Haul and drove 1500 miles showed up in Vegas. Fortunately, I had a great job in college so I was financially comfortable for six months or more so there was no stress.

Now we can all create our own ringtones. I made mine a somewhat recognizable phrase from a Brahms quintet. Brahms can get very aggressive. So now if my phone goes off in a meeting, it's not embarrassing, it's intimidating.

Having that savings right out of college is key. I doubt many of your working classmates had that as well. Many working students are merely eking by month to month, at least in our timeframes.
