Easy to say when you're looking at pictures it's a little different when you live it everyday. It is fun most of the time though, cats are very entertaining. They do so many stupid things that they make me laugh out loud many times a day. The way they like to sneak up on each other, and the cat being snuck up on will jump straight up in the air and it's just hilarious. Or they like to hide in a paper bag on the floor and spring out at any cat that passes by.

My wife was at the shelter today looking at kittens

My only advice would be if you're going to have only one cat get a male. They tend to be much friendlier than the females, and much cheaper to get fixed. They also seem to be more playful when they're adults than the females.

I noticed an automated litterbox has appeared.
I noticed that my stuff wasn't getting peed on.

I knew cats (even house cats) can swim, but was unaware a dog can dive down around 12 feet of water and retrieve something. And this is from dog paddling at the surface first, not diving off the side.
