This is the big idiot and he's one of my favorite cats. He's very handsome with great big eyes and he's really smart.
Quote: EvenBobI accidentally locked the goofball kitten in the pantry this afternoon and I'm afraid I had to punish him with lots of belly kisses. You always have to kiss a kitten on the belly cuz you can't do that with an adult cat, not if you want to keep your face intact.
My cats don't seem to have any problem accepting affectionate kisses.

I kiss my cats all the time but never on their belly. Go ahead and try it I dare you. Pick up your cat and hold them in your left arm so his four paws are sticking up in the air and reach your face down in there and kiss his belly. I'm going to need a picture of that..
Quote: WizardI have a question for the cat thread. We are catsitting my older daughter's kitten for four years. This kitten is fast, playful and energetic. When we tried to clip her nails we couldn't get her to sit still for the process and accomplished nothing. Any advice? We had the same problem with our own cat 20 years ago and simply gave up.

We found it helpful to have one person (the cat herder) hold the cat's body (cat's back touching your belly, your hand(s) immobilizing them around the cat tummy), and the designated clipper grab one paw at a time, squeezing the "toe beans" to extend the claws and nip the tips.
Working quickly, it took about 3 minutes, which is just about the limit of our cats' patience.
This nine month old cat is getting big and fat.
Pete is getting big too but not quite as fat.
Quote: EvenBobI got this from another site. The kittens are just too adorable.

1. Two people, one to hold/immobilize the cat, and the other to further immobilize the paw with one hand and clip with the other hand.
2. When you take her to the vet for annual shots, ask the vet to clip the nails as necessary.
3. Wrap the cat in a bath towel to immobilize it, with only the head and paw sticking out.

Make a scratching post out of sandpaper?
Hey EB, how did you miss this one? You need to throw a wild cat party on your plantation. Get giant sized catfish and throw it in the yard and turn the herd loose.
Happy Natl. Cats Day!!
