Bob... do you ever eat at a casino? If so you must be disappointed....

Casino buffet food sucks for
the most part. Everything is
always over cooked so they
don't get sued. If you do
find medium rare roast beef
it's usually so tough it takes
5 min to chew it. The buffets
are loaded with carb dishes
because carbs are cheap.
And you can over cook the
crap out of carbs and nobody
notices.

I always stick with fish and
the salad bar in a buffet. It's
hard to screw up a salad bar.

What really honks me off in
some buffets is they advertise
prime rib and it's actually
a rump roast they're carving
from. I always say something
and they always act like 'what?'
'Huh?' Most people are totally
ignorant about what cuts of meat
look like.

Home Run Tavern pizza for breakfast.
I'd never heard of them before and they are two dollars more than most of the pizzas at Safeway so I wouldn't have tried if a neighbor hadn't recommended them.
If you haven't tried one, I think they are well worth the premium price.
Recently picked up a table top pizza oven at an auction and am really enjoying it. Best $5 I've spent in awhile.

i went on the keto diet in October....

When Robert Atkins introduced his low
carb diet in 1972 I needed to lose weight,
about 45 lb. I told my doctor I was going
on this new diet were you avoided
carbohydrate. He told me that it was
foolish and that it would kill me. He said
he hated Atkins and wished that New
York state would revoke his medical
license because he was killing people.
I went on the diet anyway and lost 50
lb in 3 months. My doctor was furious,
and he fired me as a patient. Even as
little as three years ago there were doctors
telling people not to do Keto because it
was unhealthy. That has certainly changed.

But the medical profession has always been
short-sighted and bullheaded. The hospital
doctor in England in the 1850s who discovered
by accident that fewer people got infections
when he washed his hands in between
operations, was looked at as a moron and was
almost kicked out of the medical profession.
Within 25 years of his discovery every hospital
in the world made their doctors wash their
hands in between patients.

Leftover homemade deep dish pizza, although for lunch, I had a 12-ounce Beyond Meat BBQ bacon double cheeseburger, grilled on a Foreman grill. My only complaint about it is, it's not as juicy as I normally like my burgers.

Wow. Just the opposite for me. It was Shopping Day, and since i don't have to be home for MoW, I called a Taxi company.

Too early for any freebies in the store and i have to get perishables home fairly promptly before taxi drivers become too busy for my lousy 1.2 mile trip, so it turned into a mad dash around the store giving into whims and then getting it all home to sort out the results of my impulse shopping.

So Sundays menu was:
pre-dawn breakfast: Nuked Turkey Tenderloin with oregano, cumin, lemon-pepper, tumeric, and onion powder.

Noon: Arrive home with a dozen bags and have:
Box of Blackberries,
Box of dehydrated Mountain Figs, an impulse purchase courtesy of Paco's recent thread on fig newtons.

After a puzzle solving session of getting fish fillets (fresh and frozen), lamb shanks, some beef, etc. into the relatively tiny freezer compartment, I had a Turkey drumstick left over from last night's culinary efforts.

Then I went on the internet to remind myself how to cook fish fillets, lamb shanks, etc. and Monday will be devoted to using up the items most likely to spoil promptly, like that fresh salmon filet and the asparagus, the rest of the berries and the second box of figs.

The refrigerated rectangular ones with the frosting? I didn't know they still made them.
I'm in Mexico for a one day Mexican MMA tournament that looks pretty interesting. 16 fighters so some one will win three fights in a single day. Winner gets $1000, rest get nada.
Had a couple of chimichangas and churros for breakfast. No tequila before 10am for me.

They sell them for $1.49 each BOGO here about 10 weeks a year. We don't bother otherwise.

I actually cooked an espresso rubbed flat iron steak on the grill last night. I don't know why, but it was the best steak that I have ever cooked. I am guessing just dumb luck as I have probably cooked 100 steaks and it was finally time to have good one.

I’m on a cruise. If I listed everything I ate then this post would be so long no one would read it. For lunch I had a hamburger, on which I put 10x the amount of sautéed onions any restaurant would. Added some cheese sauce, jalapeños, and a dollop of mayo. It was a messy delight.
Also have eaten Indian ‘pickle’. Probably also 10x usual serving size. I’m guessing that’s 50x as much salt as I should eat in a day.

None for poultry. It's not really
needed and not that effective.
Concentrate more on what
you put on the outside before
frying. When frying poultry
make sure each piece gets
20min per side. Easy to under
cook and have raw middle and
get salmonella, always a fun ride.

I usually fry chicken by putting all the piece in the frying pan on 'low' for two hours on one side and one hour on the other side.
