No. That is a popular and often appealing myth. It is a boxing expression and is not related to coffins, nor is 'dead ringer'.

There is a tv show dedicated to tracking down origins of terms which disagrees with you.
I don't really care, either way.
Boo!
I have great sorrow and pity for the utterly incompetent producers of the show and its poor, misguided viewers.Quote: billryanThere is a tv show dedicated to tracking down origins of terms which disagrees with you.

They shouldn't limit the competition to just females either, that's racist.

Today someone who seemed to know what he was talking about told me that all Vegas hotels must freely offer water. They can charge whatever for bottled water. But some form of free water must be available.
So next time you should be able to ask for a glass or cup of it and get it for free.
Quote: RigondeauxSomeone, Gamerfreak I believe, once talked about the insanity of pools in Vegas charging $10 for a bottle of water. Because it presents a health issue.

And be same is true within nightclubs/pools that consider themselves clubs?
Can anyone find the specific law?
If it’s true true I’m gonna freak out come out to Vegas and make a scene.
I requested tap water and was denied at multiple venues. They were willing to give me a cup of ice at the Flamingo Pool and I just let it melt.

If they hired me to run these night clubs I’d have their profits up 300% in a few weeks. But they won’t because this city if full of corrupt thugs who get kickbacks from the Chinese bottled water industry. Im not afraid of these bouncers who think they are tough sh*t. They will have to drag me out in handcuffs.

"All licensed premises in England and Wales are required by law to provide "free potable water" to their customers upon request. However, these premises can charge people for the use of a glass - or their service - when serving the "free" tap water." Scotland's laws are similar, but in Northern Ireland you can go whistle.

Walked in with a friend who asked the bar keep where the bathroom was. He ordered a beer and went to use it. I told the bartender I wasn't sure what I was drinking and could I have a glass of water while I looked over their rather extensive beer list. Guy flips out and tells me buy a bottle of water or leave. I try to tell him I was going to but he calls over a walking condominium who tells me it is time to leave. I begin to argue but realize that I really don't want to spend money here now anyway. I tell him my friend is in the bathroom and as soon as he comes out we are gone.
The place closed not long afterward, during the biggest bar boom on Fremont in a generation.

Being that it was Fremont, they probably have more than the usual number of non-paying customers to deal with. Not saying you look like a vagrant.

I actually told him about your experience and he was quite confident it applied. He said, if nothing else, it would be a huge liability issue.
He was some kind of business consultaant and knew all the goings on w fountain blue, lucky dragon, etc.
Maybe he was wrong on this one. But i agree it is nuts to deny people drinking alcohol in 115 degree heat water.

7-11 Cap'n crunch berry slurpee. Remarkably spot on with the flavor profile. You wouldn't think you could get both the berry flavor and the Cap'n crunch at the same time, but it actully tastes like the cereal.Quote: lilredroosterrecord temps out west for July 6:

Koffee verkeed; verse munt thee, chocomel. When you travel Vegas don't order fast food that you can have anywhere, anytime. When you travel abroad, don't order the same slop you can get served at home. And don't leave without having had 'a lawyer' : its known as an advocaat.. One restaurant we go to in US at least brings a 16 ounce bottle without refills.... I think that’s around 450 mls.
I have only had that happen once in my life. I went to Hard Rock Pittsburgh on a Friday night. We order food and I get a pepsi. There was a live band that evening. During the course of our appetizer and dinner I end up with 2 refills. I get the bill and was charged $4 for each pepsi. I question it and was told because they have a band tonight there are no free refills. I was so annoyed because when that happens the server should definitely mention it since free refills are the norm. I will never go to hard rock to eat again.

went to the pirate game today. after the game we went to a bar/restaurant nearby. We had a very good waitress. After sitting in the part of the stadium that gets sun the entire game we were hot and ready for a pepsi. Waitress brings out a big glass and I crush it basically before she leaves the table. She brings another quickly. I kill that one in a few minutes. She brought another with dinner and I killed that. She brought another quickly and I didnt quite finish that. These glasses were probably 24 oz but had a lot of ice so probably 14oz of pepsi in each. So I drank about 50oz of pepsi. So I drank nearly a 2 liter bottle of pepsi at dinner. THAT is why I am fat. Can I osue pepsi for proving a liquid that tastes so good but is soo bad for you?

Of course you can.
In this fair land anybody can sue anybody for anything.
The question to keep in mind however is "Can I expect to prevail, or will I likely lose / get thrown out of court?"
In your case, we haven't quite imposed tort liablility against the purveyors of fattening foods, although the day may come.

One of the best ball parks anywhere! I haven't had a sody pop since about 2014, I believe. Like someone else said you'll stop when you have to. Til then, why not enjoy 8-50 ounces at the ball game? ;) Besides, it's the hot dogs that'll kill ya!
No. You were ready for something that would slake your thirst and you habitually chose pepsi.Quote: GWAEAfter sitting in the part of the stadium that gets sun the entire game we were hot and ready for a pepsi.

Please do not think that I am without sin in these matters. I have gout and therefore anything cherry flavored or cherry colored can be deemed to be good for me. So I seem to be "weaketh in the knee" when it comes to grocery shopping and these freshly baked cherry pies which are, of course, too much sugar to be good for me at all. A can of cherries would be good; a cherry pie is merely feeding my sugar addiction.
Before corn syrup, I don't think anyone ever just chugged soft drinks, but it might just be 2 liter bottles. I don't remember even wanting more back then, you had a small portion and you didn't want any more. It's almost like a drug it does taste good and doesn't satiate. The people making it must have known this. They'll probably get away with it, even if they designed a drink to be addictive and knowingly did so.Quote: GWAEwent to the pirate game today. after the game we went to a bar/restaurant nearby. I used to think they put crack in the onions for mcd cheeseburgers. I swear I could eat 12 of them and they are barely real food.
I honestly wouldn't be shocked if one day they came out and said some ingredient in pop was considered as addictive as nicotine.

You just need to work on your impulse control.

I can sure control it when it comes to exercising.
It's weird that it is only pop though. I have no issues stopping drinking when I am drunk. Even if I have had 14 or 15 beers and cant walk I stop myself and drink water. I used to smoke and just stopped cold Turkey about 10 years ago and never had one since. I dont have a problem with gambling either. So what is it with pop? Why is it impossible for me to stop that?
I'm sorry to hear of your struggles and failures regarding pepsi. Drinkers and smokers have quit lines, yet nothing for you. Maybe try a generic brand to cut down, that's what they tell smokers, to try a brand you don't like.Quote: GWAEI can sure control it when it comes to exercising.

No idea if this will help, but I thought they had some good ideas.

Seems like 3 things might be raising your craving.
Caffeine
Sugar
Carbonation
Maybe you can try doing each in a non-Pepsi drink for a week apiece, and identify what attracts you. Then use a healthier version, whether cane-sugar soda, carbonated flavored water, ice tea.
If nothing else, maybe if you fill the glass to the brim with ice, then add soda, you'll get a lot more water per serving. Make yourself not drink it straight.

The ice thing is what I do now. 16oz glass filled all the way to the top with ice.
I bought a 20oz out if the machine at work today. Only drank half so that is a win. Will drink the other half tomorrow.
