Kim knows Trump has a huge ego
So smart of Kim to have them deliver the letter at night when all of Trump's babysitters are gone
Trump makes the stupid decision of meeting Kim without any concrete concessions.
You meet after negotiating concrete provable concessions, not before
Kim wants to seen as a world leader on par with Trump and Trump obliged
Bottom line
No way will this meeting happen.

I remember when Mexico's President said Trump wanted him to play along with Mexico paying for the wall. Not sure what level of "deal making" Trump will do behind the scenes, but let's hope it's not at that level. Both of them might agree to make things look good for both of them. Lordy.

I believe Kim knows if he leaves, he gets dethroned. It's not in Chinas self-interest to do anything to help Trump so I don't see them offering space. I can't imagine they are very happy about hearing of this trip from a South Korean announcement on American television.
The ramifications of either leader being attacked make security an absolute nightmare. Nixon's trip to China took months of planning and the world was a very different place back then. Trying to pull off a May summit is just smoke and mirrors.

Since we can dismiss Trump meeting him in NK, is anyone willing to put up odds on Trump and Kim meeting face to face in 2018 with real money? Odds? Could be a good wager based on political philosophies. Plenty of trustworthy people to hold the cash.

This sounds like and interesting bet. I am leaning towards the NO as well, but knowing Trump if he really wants to meet face to face he will make it happen.

I definitely want some.action on this bet, im just not sure what side I want to bet yet.

p.s. I would Trust that ED would pay when he loses. I doubt he would make any bet he couldn't afford.

Good call on a an even money bet. No clue but I think it would be hard to put a different line on it. We are both betting on our gut instinct. Time will tell, but if they make a deal we all win,,,,hopefully.

It's going to depend on how badly Trump needs a distraction from bimbo sex and/or Russian investigation headlines.

We're not going to get a warning. If something erupts internally and threatens Trump, before the media gets spooled up on it, it will be Kick the tires, Light the fires, and some third party will host the meeting with no notice to the world. Perhaps even land A1, chock the wheels with NK guns, and have Kim get on board, inside NK.

I'm favoring the "no" but only slightly. I thought even money was fair.

I would take $100 on the "no", even money as in Boz/Ed terms above.

I'll look at splitting this.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

The only caveat would be I don't think the two of them being in the same room at the same time counts.
If, for example, both attend the UN conference they have every year in NY. I'd say it has to be a private meeting. Anywhere Anytime.

Before all this betting talk started here I posted on DT that I thought 30% yes meeting, 70% no meeting. I believe terapined has a very +EV bet at even money on the no. Even at -150 I make the 'no' bet slightly +EV.

I can't see Trump going to NK.
I can't see Il leaving NK.
So the only obvious choice is the DMZ with the leaders sitting on each side of the border. The time will be the only thing that's a secret and likely we won't know about it until the meeting is happening.

But this showmanship is right up Trump's alleyway - a win-win situation for him indicating he did nothing that previous leaders did. Unless it ends up with a nuke launched by NK (which it won't) I can't see any way that Trump loses voters because of this.

And it took everything off his negative press around everything else he's been doing.

See I can say positive things about Trump and still not like him. Can anyone else do the same for Obama? I didn't think so.

I believe there is a "neutral" meeting room in the DMZ for just such a purpose where parties from the North and South can get together without being in each other's territory.
