Years ago, in an interview, she was asked if she was bisexual and her response was something along the lines of "duh". I think her ex-girlfriends were involved in her campaign staff. Hard to get a good read on her. She started out way left but has made a career out of working with Republicans. She voted with trump an awful lot for a Democrat. I think if McSally hadn't pressed the treason nonsense, that her past could have been used better against her. The big news out of the election if the formerly solid red Phoenix is very much in play, and with it go the states Electoral votes.

A lot of folks seemed disappointed in the results last week, calling it a "blue trickle" instead of the much anticipated wave. I disagree. I thought it was a big win for the dems.

I could go into detail on the results and how well the Dems performed in districts that Trump won in 2016, but I think we can sum it up with this:

The GOP base (Trump's base) is shrinking while the dem base is growing. Rural america is shrinking. Urban and suburban America is growing.

And the following tweet shows just how ignorant our President is:

“The Florida Election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged. An honest vote count is no longer possible-ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!”

He seriously thinks that counting votes ends on election night! I didn't realize that disenfranchising our troops stationed overseas was so popular with the GOP.

How anybody can continue to support this man is beyond comprehension.

I was one of those people who were disappointed. But I was disappointed in election night. Since then, Dems have turned some of those Senate and House races and I think it was an overall positive. If Florida would have gone Dems way, people would have considered it a huge success.

So I’ve upgraded my opinion from disappointing to positive.

trump took credit for retiring Jeff Flake. Thanks to him, Democrats won Flakes seat in the Senate, retained the seat in congress that the new Senator gave up and won the seat that trumps candidate gave up to run for Senate.
It was a huge defeat for trump. Tester kept his job as did Manchin in West Virginia. Given the election map, I'm not sure what else anyone thought would happen.
In NY, Republicans lost control of the State Senate for the first time in living memory.

Exact same thing happened to Mark Sanford's house seat. Trump picked a fight with him. He lost his primary. The Dem candidate won the general.

It was, in truth, a huge Democratic win. There's definitely some disappointment that, with Gillum and Nelson leading by a consistent 3-5 points in the last couple weeks' polls, both races have so far broken in the other direction. But they aren't yet done counting, either.

Rick Scott is despicable, not just a huge conflict of interest, but making unsubstantiated claims he KNOWS are lies about fraudulent ballots and the rest. He's been on Fox News every single day in flaming things.

But in the larger context, in a non-flashy way, there has been a sea change that won't all show up at once.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

An election supervisor in the heavily Republican Pan Handle admits she let some voters vote by email, which is obviously illegal. Meanwhile trump doesn't want the overseas and military votes counted.

Fivethirtyeight predicted an average 39 seat gain for the Democrats in the House, and they won 38.

They also predicted an average 0.5 seat gain for Republicans in the Senate, and right now they're up 1.

Pretty close predictions.

Fox News, Matt Drudge, and Wikileaks haven't tweeted anything for days. Fox News claims they're protesting Twitter, but the hot new conspiracy theory is that they're all mixed up in the Russia investigation somehow and have gone silent because it's all about to come out in the open.

It's not even close now. The NYS Assembly is around 100-50 Dems. The NYS Senate is now around 35-25 Dems. And Cuomo is the head honcho. I think NY will try for a universal statewide single payer health system. Thank God I'll be retired before it passes.

The GOP got greedy and started going too far right under Bush Jr. They picked up speed under Obama, and with Trump they just threw open the throttle and broke off the brake pedal. Now the pendulum is going to start swinging hard and fast in the other direction and we're going see a lot of very far left and socialist politicians and policies in next 5-10 years, and it's all the GOP's fault. Thanks a lot.

The Republican Party, as it existed is dead. It's leader is against almost everything the old party stood for. In the end, maybe something useful comes out of the rubble, but I'm not hopeful. The Rockefeller Republicans of the 70s would be moderate Democrats today.

Almost any Republican politician in U.S. history up to and including Bush Sr. would probably be considered a moderate Democrat by today's GOP standards. Even their heroes, Lincoln and Reagan.

The people have spoken.

It will limit opportunity and economic growth for the middle and lower income brackets. Their kids are toast.

But, it will be a windfall for the wealthy.

You may never see an economy, and opportunity like this again in your lifetime. Fill your pockets while you can.

Those billionaires didn’t spend hundreds of millions on the midterms out of concern for the masses. It was an investment. Their businesses are global. They expect to get that money back, many times over.

Stop being selfish, and think of the tens of millions of illegals who will now be able to come here without fear of being sent home by the evil republicans.

They also have a couple of other legitimate issues regarding the recounts -
There is a recount deadline
The machines doing the recounts aren't fast enough, or numerous enough
They can only recount one contest at a time

Here’s one bright side for the Dems: win or lose tomorrow, starting Wednesday morning we won’t be hearing about that stupid ass “caravan” anymore.

Imagine being so stupid that you actually believed the caravan was a real threat and not just a political ploy by a racist d-bag...

A Week After the Midterms, Trump Seems to Forget the Caravan

Quote:

There was little dispute, even before Election Day, that Mr. Trump was exploiting the caravan for political purposes. But analysts, historians and veterans of previous administrations said there were few comparable instances of a commander in chief warning about what he called a looming threat, only to drop it as soon as people voted.

Today was photo day for the incoming Congressional Class and the difference between the two parties couldn't be more stark.
The GOP had twenty-nine White Males and a single White Female.,while the much larger Democrats have almost half of its new class members being women or minorities.
Which party would you guess represents the country as a whole, and which reflects one segment of it?

As far as getting rid of ICE goes, consider this.
ICE was formed in 2003. Is the border safer than it was in 2002? Has 15 years of ICE been such a rousing success that it can't be improved upon? It's not about eliminating ICE, it's about making it better and more effective.

Nine out of the last ten recessions were under republican administrations. By almost every statistical measurement like GDP, business investment, recessions, job creation, our economy performs better under democrats. I'd say the chances of seeing a robust economy again is pretty good. We just have to elect democrats. The data is clear on this and in some cases, it's not even close.

“I’ve been around for a long time and it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans.” - Donald Trump, 2004

http://presidentialdata.org/

https://www.princeton.edu/~mwatson/papers/Presidents_Blinder_Watson_Nov2013.pdf

There is a legitimate debate to be had as to why this is. But there is no debate that this is, indeed, A FACT. Chalk it up to coincidence if you like, chalk it up to luck (lol) if you like, but trying to scare us into thinking that we will never see an economy like this because Donald Trump and trickle down bull s**t has been taken a step further, is ridiculous.

Technically, border apprehensions have been dropping significantly since 2000, but whether or not it's due to ICE, I don't know. Either ICE and the Border Patrol are getting better at their jobs, or fewer people are trying to cross the border. Source

As far as that Fox News graphic goes, yes, it's comically bad and completely falls apart when the simplest logic is applied.

"Free college for all" -- Ah, yes, the good old Republican mantra of "education is evil!" And no, it's not free, since taxes would be paying for it, as they pay for a million other things, including the first 12-13 years of a person's education. What's another 2-4 years tacked on to that?

"Free healthcare for all" -- Again, not free, since everyone would be chipping in with their taxes instead of paying insurance companies exorbitant amounts of money every month.

"Abolish ICE" -- Fine with me. We already have multiple other government agencies to handle border crossings and illegal immigrants.

"Green New Deal" -- I had to look this up since I hadn't heard of it. I don't know much about it but it sounds "pro-environment," so of course the hard-line Republicans are going to be against it.

ICE isn't supposed to be at the border. That's the Customs and Border Patrols jurisdiction. ICE is supposed to deal with immigrants within the country, those who already have crossed the border or those who overstay their visas.
These departments were created in the fear filled atmosphere after the September 11th attacks, along with Freedom Fries. Strange how Republicans want to cut budgets and shut down so many Federal Services but bring up waste and abuse at ICE and one is accused of being soft on cop killers and a closet MS13 supporter.

I wasn't able to downvote any of the stupid comments, seems as though only the upvotes are counted?

“You are destroying America, do you even have a permit for your free speech?”

Lol

Typical republican loving big government when it suits their rhetoric.

And he's defending the Confederacy, which was a bunch of Southern Democrats that LITERALLY destroyed America... LOL.... HE should be the one out there protesting, because by his logic, the Confederate States is everything he hates.

I'm amazed people like that know how to put their pants on in the morning.

EDIT: OOOOOOhhhh, dang! Haha....

Michael Avanatti arrested for domestic violence.

We just have to elect democrats.

The Blinder report is a political hatchet job. The authors could have said, the economy does better when Republicans control the House.

The House affects the economy. Only the House can create fiscal policy and control spending and finance. Not the President. Not the Senate. All legislation concerning fiscal policy, such as budget, appropriations and taxes must originate in the House.

The Republicans controlled the House for the first two years of the Trump presidency.

The Republicans controlled the House for the last six years of Obama’s presidency.

The Republicans controlled the House for the last six years of the Clinton presidency.

The Dems controlled the House for the last two years of the G.W. Bush presidency. That worked out really well.

The Dems controlled the House for all of the Bush Sr., and Reagan Administrations.

The Dems controlled the House for all of the Carter administration. Another great job.

The Dems controlled the House for all of the Nixon and Ford administrations.

They're in control again. Free stuff for everyone. Hopefully, they can improve on Trump's numbers.
