I have been trying to pin down a day and time for a while now.Quote: WizardSomebody let me know the time and place if this ever happens.
After talking with AOS it seems like the evening of this coming Friday or Saturday would work best.
I contacted Baccaratform79 yesterday asking him to confirm a day and time, but he indicated he was busy with work and that he would have to get back to me later. I haven't heard back from him yet. I respect that he was busy so hopefully he can respect the fact others get busy as well, and we need some advance notice, especially since not everybody will be on a carefree Vegas vacation and they have to make plans. I'm hoping today he can take a few minutes to firm up a day and time with all of us.

+1
I'll actually be in town too. If I could fit it in, I wouldn't mind stopping by.
Quote: rdw4potusI feel obligated to point out that it takes the same amount of time to say "Friday. 8pm. Bellagio" as it does to say "I'm busy. I'll call you back."

So the overlapping days are April 24-26. I believe you wrote somewhere else that you're in downtown the first few days. Weekends are generally not good for me.
To take the initiative, I suggest we have an optional dinner at the 777 Brew Pub at the Main Street Station and then the Monkey event afterward. I think the Golden Nugget is the only place to play baccarat downtown -- correct me if I'm wrong. I think Bac won't show up no matter the time and place. However, I'm the kind of guy who likes to plan in advance.

I'd be willing to bet he will show, but he never said anything about doing it downtown, so you're kind of changing the terms to put it at the GN. Haven't talked to him, however, and certainly not speaking for him. But it's his bet, he should be able to set the place, maybe work with people on the timing.

I believe he wanted to do the bet at either the Bellagio or the Tropicana on the 24th or 25th.
(As I will be at the Aria, I vote for the Bellagio so I can take the monorail over)

That was my impression as well. If he's throwing around the kind of money he says he plays, I would think he wants to play where he wants a relationship. 2-3 hours at thousands a hand? GN should be so lucky to have him show up.

Okay, shall we set this for the Bellagio on the 24th unless Bac demands a different time and/or venue?
BTW, I don't wish to screw up any existing bets, but after they are resolved, I'll be very negotiable on keeping it going. Any "two dice" bets too.

Too bad 4Q doesn't have bac, he would get
free rooms for the rest of his life with that
kind of play.

I second that!
(Although, Wizard, I do not know what you mean by "keeping it going" and "two dice bets"...? Can you please elaborate for those of us who are unenlightened, or, if I am the only unenlightened one, for me?)
I wonder if the Bellagio would give us a RESERVED table for this (well, considering Bacc79's wagers are at least $1k/hand, I assume he would be able to request this quite easily)
Quote: RSI assume "two-dice bets" are wagers I'm trying to setup (mostly with Alan Mendelson, perhaps others if they are interested). Essentially, if a hard 4 (2-2) rolls, I'd pay 7:1 on his bet. If a 2-X (where X is 1,2,3,4,5,6) rolls, I win his bet. Any roll without a deuce is a push.
That seems to me to be the same thing - did you mean to omit the number "2" in the "(where X is 1,2,3,4,5,6)...? Or am I misreading/misunderstanding? To me, it would seem to be a "hard 4".

For example, I might offer 3 to 2 for just a single "monkey." I can't go to 2 to 1, because of card counting.
Regarding the "two dice bets," there is a whole discussion about such a wager in the Two dice puzzle thread.
What I contend is that if two dice are shaken, and at least one is a 2, then the probability of both are a 2 is 1/11. If anyone thinks I'm in error, prove me wrong at MonkeyFest. I'll bring the dice and shaker.

Even at $1,000, I'm not sure that is "reserved table" worthy at the Bellagio. However, we should have no trouble getting a table to ourselves in the high limit room.

BBB Lets talk, i'm willing to take that bet.
I already have $50 to win $125 on the no that the bet won't take place as promised. I'm willing to drop the price a bit since he hasn't got back to me for over 24 hrs he's had plenty of time to make and confirm a day and time. Perhaps he was leaving that up to us, however he now knows we are waiting on him to help set up and confirm the time and day.
Djatc: It's the same was welching, if he doesn't show up AND fails to pay. He already made the bet that he is responsible for resolving. Not following through is the same as a loss. Failure to pay the loss is welching.
Any family or work related emergency would be highly suspicious at this point (Bob would say very predictable)
God forbid If Something did come up that prevented him from coming, he should make good on the bet and pay me and Maxpen. At that time I would give him a reasonable time to complete the bet.

Yes, I meant to omit the 2 where X = 1,3,4,5,6. Sorry that was confusing. =\
- If either die land on 2, then we proceed. If neither die land on 2, then it's a push.
- If the other die is a non-2, then I win your wager (say, $100).
- If the other die is a 2, then I pay you 7:1, $700.
In other words:
2-1, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, 1-2, 3-2, 4-2, 5-2, 6-2 you lose.
2-2 you win 7:1.
Anything else (1-1, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6, 3-1, 3-3, 3-4, 3-5, 3-6, 4-1, 4-3, 4-4, 4-5, 4-6, 5-1, 5-3, 5-4, 5-5, 5-6, 6-1, 6-3, 6-4, 6-5, 6-6) is a push.

Perhaps someone wants to meander through the Trop this coming week and see if they find a gentleman wagering $1k/hand at baccarat while holding onto a monkey...?

Love IPA's? Try Hop Devil
Double IPA's? Dirt Wolf will do the trick
Storm King is the Russian Imp Stout for the heavier beer lovers.
And Prima Pils is great for the lighter beer lovers out there.
As for Golden Monkey, I have seen many people forget what happened when drinking it. But "the triple will do you good"

Hop Devil was the first Victory Beer I tried. Where did I first try it? A meeting with an internet poker forum...lol
According to Victory's Website, Paris has their stuff somewhere. I dunno if it's on the gaming floor. In the past I've defaulted to Sierra Nevada there. I won't likely have Hop Devil at TAG though...too many other better beers. :p

AOS have you yourself tried contacting B79 regarding his plans?Quote: RonCI'm wondering if anyone has heard from B79 on the time/place for this event. I am looking forward to hearing how it goes.
B79, why don't you publish a time/date/location?
For now It's looking bleak as to any Monkey bets actually happening. On saturday afternoon I sent a text clearly requesting him to confirm a time and day. I explained that people are busy and we need to confirm day/time/place ASAP.
He had enough time to send some pics and a response, but no mention of his trip or any date confirmation, but he indicated he was busy with work possibly all night. Perhaps he had to look at his schedule first before letting us know.
I then told him what looked like a good time for everybody(Thursday or friday evening about sixish) and asked he address the forum regarding the time and day, but no response yet.
It's now Tuesday at 4:35 and I haven't heard back anything, not to mention I sent a text today at at 2:20.. I find it unsettling he would keep us hanging this long without a peep.
I won't contact him again regarding at time and place. The monkeyballs are in his court now.
For now I suggest no more monkeying around. I'll talk with Mike and AOS and set up a Time and Place for a mini Monkeyless Monkeyfest WOVV meetup. I believe everybody is invited.
If our meetup time doesn't fit in with B79s schedule and he suddenly appears at the last minute with a special time. Just so there's no misunderstanding or excuse claiming that we made a time that didn't fit with his schedule. Our meet mini meet up doesn't mean the bet is off or that we won't attend at a different time. We will still get a few people to come witness the monkey magic.
