It is actually very comical, they whole monkey fiasco! Actually, from what I can see and read, only a few took it serious and became upset with it. Like they are infatuated with it all. Isn't that a great traffic builder and what forums seek to do, increase traffic count (hits) so they can sell advertising? OMG, such basics. Nuke everyone and I am sure the advertisers will be jumping for joy.

No traffic came in because of B79. He probably ran away a few with unbelievable stories that were pretty much debunked. It's mostly populated with the same members returning over and over.

This forum is probably a loss leader, the money is earned though the ODDS site. No advertising is being sold here.

Its obvious that generating bogus traffic with bet welchers, liars and BS artists isn't the goal.

FYI Monkeyfest cost one member money so the actions of B79 affected someone in RL.

Just rearrange the words to your liking and interpret the subliminal meanings.

As far as I know, the scientific consensus on subliminal meanings or advertising is that it doesn't work at all. Remind you of something?

Secondly, how might one obtain the hidden meaning if one cannot ascertain the main one in plain sight?

I think I need a break.

Why ask me? I have no stake in any of it.

That's the answer I would expect from someone who was that person but pretending to be someone else.

I Just want you're opinion, you seem to have one about other things that don't really concern you. You're the one who had an opinion about all this in the first place.

Disregarding B79 or this situation , what do you think in general about people who don't honor commitments, bets, back out of things, make up sensational stories then supposedly disappear?

Only B79 Takes the time to find and link to wacky videos.

I'm not certain on this but doesn't Buzzard usually embed the video in the post usually?

If it was Buzz he would have already told us what a gangsta guy he was in his youth. Head Shop Steward at ATT.........played a $10 game of pool with only $5 dollars in his pocket.........made collections for Vito the bookie etc etc.

OMG! Whatever. Are you a teenager? I merely pointed something out. I have read this forum for awhile here and there. I play cards and spin the ball. I can only take it you are saying that AP's are superior in all aspects of everything over other non AP's?

Why do you subliminally hint that there might or might not be 'specific rules' against anything? This is the internet, a free for all forum, I am not cussing or threatening or anything of the like.

At least another thought and admitted I hit something head on that is overly apparent, a problem here. But my dear father always told me, "don't run crying to mom or the cops over every little thing".

You're a troll. You have no vested interest in anything regarding the pot you are trying to stir.
Unless of course you are B79 as suspected.
To anyone concerned, the subject came up for a brief moment, in the form of a synopsis regarding what the wager was, for anyone present, not following the thread.
I am the only one who lost anything and I could care less.
Was it funny? Yes. More so though, it was pathetic.
A delusional tow truck driver portraying himself as a high rolling business operator.
The guy/girl doesn't need to be banned. His actions have already taken care of that.
No one is whining.
Enough said on the subject. Hopefully B79 will focus his efforts on something truly productive in the future.

Bob, the really scary thing here isn't that you couldn't make heads or tails of what all those people were saying in the back of your cab over the years, but that it still made sense to all of them. Only difference is, everyone wants to drive here, to be in the front seat.

Think about it. It's one step beyond not understanding something, and because of this then wanting it to be garbage. Agreement doesn't a proof make.

I think he meant that the poster in question was trolling...which it appears he is...why is that worthy of a suspension and not a warning to toe the thin line between calling someone a troll and saying that they are trolling?

I was a huge B79 supporter and I will tell everyone that I am disappointed in his actions. He owed to those he made a bet with and those he promised to meet for the monkey deal the benefit of AT LEAST a note saying that the event was not going to happen and that he would pay the bets he made since he was not going to appear.

At this point, it is time to consider if this rises to the level on welching on a bet. No, he did not brag about not paying but he also did not make an attempt to cancel the bets, to buy them out, or to show for the event. All that after he told everyone he had a monkey with magical powers and would back it up with bets.

I am a stand up person--I believe if B79 does not stand up, he should be asked not to return. I do think we should give him a brief opportunity to explain his actions.

You can not call any forum member a troll, no matter how obvious it is. This goes for pretty much any insult.

I'm inclined to give B79 one week to either:

1. Make arrangements to honor the bets.
2. Make a forfeit offer.
3. Make a statement in his defense on why he shouldn't have to do #1 or 2.

I think one week is an acceptable period to wait for a response, lest he deemed to have welched on a bet.

Where are the mods today?

7 hours of bounce houses, Disney characters, face painting, young mothers, magic shows, and karaoke. At least two of those are worth leaving the house for =)

It's tough, you know? My view on what this place should be is at least partially aligned with Wiz's, as I spoke to him about it when I met him. But I obviously cannot know the man's entire mind, so I have a very incomplete picture of what envisions this place to be. I feel I have a good understanding of his expectations as far as decorum goes, but as far as content, his strong lean towards free speech (despite him rescinding it) often causes me to err on the side of caution.

Then there's the members. I could easily double the Suspension List before the end of business today with people who originally gave me the impression that they were harmful to the cause. Many of these people have since changed my mind, once I came to know them. Others I still haven't warmed up to, but many here seem to enjoy them. And since this is not my forum, it is not my place to evict persons just because I personally don't value them. In fact, one of my personal goals is to prevent exactly that. WoV is not mine. I have no right.

If you want some insight into mistakes that I failed to make, I would've bounced Ahigh well before any of his real work came to fruition. I would've bounced HotBlonde almost immediately after the Challenge started. Gr8player would probably still be here. B79 would be initials that meant nothing, because he would've been gone before he made the impact he has. B9 would've been gone sooner and Mosca never would've been suspended. If I ruled the world...(imagine that).

Sometimes I wonder "what if?" What if I dropped the objectivity and actually tried to mold this place? What if I believed I knew what was best for the forum, and I began to act on it? What if every time someone accused someone of trolling and I agreed, I just binned them? What if when someone lamented the fallen quality and I agreed, I did something about it?

Then I wouldn't be a moderator. I'd be a censor, a suppressor, a bowdlerizer, a squelcher. Perhaps in this case, that what everyone wants. But once you open that door, it's open for good. Objectivity isn't even something we'd need attempt anymore, and this place would run based on our whims and fancies.

If that's what you want, Wiz is your man. He likes the rules the way they are, but will consider a well made and convincing argument. Explain that you want the Greens to have more leeway beyond the rules and want us to make judgement calls for the betterment of the forum. If you get to him and he comes to me, I'll start the clean up immediately

But beware of permanent solutions to temporary problems.
The opinions of this moderator are for entertainment purposes only.

But they are factual and about gaming. Reality is harsh, especially to a bunch of gamblers like me, you and others. But as I said earlier........life isn't always fair.

Look at Seriouslyfunny's first post and tell me that's not trolling. Max made the mistake of not saying "it seems like he's trolling." It would be easy to overlook this subtlety when he stated what looked obvious.

If one can't see the dimness in an otherwise thought out strike of lucidity then one can't appreciate the plight of those who left the dust bowl in search of what? A better variety of turnip? I'm not saying that those who leave this board are searching for a small betterment, but looking for meanings not fully illuminated doesn't cause one to appreciate the small things that cause discontent any more than Herculean exercises in decernment would give one satisfaction. Satisfaction easily won is empty self-glorification. And yet, between a Herculean exercise and small things is mediocrity.

Then you're leaps and bounds ahead of me. I don't even get the jist.

Gist vs. jist
A gist is the main part of something, usually used with a direct object. It can also be the ground for legal action. Gist comes from the French word gist. Often misspelled as jist.

Jist is the common phonetic spelling of a United States Southerner’s way of saying ‘just’.

Interestingly, the origin of gist is the Latin word jacēre.

Hold on a minute. It just (or "jist") occurred to me. Years ago, I single-handedly won two court cases against two billionaire outfits. (One was a casino. The other was Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.) Haven't lost to any billionaires yet.

Watch out, I can still spell the word gist, as in "the gist of gibberish". I can't speak for the remainder. We commonly use only about a tenth of the language?

Welcome back, Soxfan. I hope you have another batch of cashews on hand.

Add on: I like your number of posts. I'm aiming for 306 as well.

Technically yes, but basically he was asked to resign by the Wizard.

It was more like resign or get fired.

You're a troll. Hopefully B79 will focus his efforts on something truly productive in the future.

I see a few here take things very personal and that kind of blows me away. However it is only an internet forum with an impossibility to have a vested interest by the members. No financial investment, no employment and no royalties. With that said, a forum is used such as a book, fiction or non fiction or documentary. It is for your reading pleasure and enjoyment. Do you read a book and then tear up the pages, yell at it or throw it on the ground and stomp on it? OMG, really guys.

No, but if a chapter in the book sucked bad enough and I was out of toilet paper, I'd tear the chapter out and wipe with it.

Not a "fan", but I agree with you 100% on this one. Again, it's not my forum so I accept decisions if I choose to visit here as a guest, but this one sucks. I'm glad we agree, Boz. A few more agreements and you'll be inviting me to your restaurant. :-)

I think most of the forum would agree that this was a very unfortunate suspension. Be careful. When you disagree with something here it's best to throw in a couple of "in my opinions" to cover yourself.

I'm confused. Are his trip reports bogus too? I thought the one I saw was pretty cool. Is my bubble busted? I'm dissapointed.
