Easy peasy, and no risk of suspension.
Of course, if you really want to get edgy, just be sure you have facts to back it up.

asinine really just means silly. it's a much less strong word than most people think.

I pay them to make me come, and then they go. Sinatra and I have different ways with money and women. I usually pay in tournament chips as well. The $500 denoms and below work enough times to make it worthwhile.

yeah.. and donkeys don't act with malice, only with foolishness, stupidity or illogical silliness. That's exactly my point. People use "asinine" to mean "like an asshole," to imply that there was malice, rudeness, or spitefulness associated with the "asinine" act or person. It's just a fine point on language I have noticed.

Yeah I had my doubts about that. An unpronounceable name, an immediate join and post... and supposedly he pays bonuses on deposits... so if he is giving away that much money how could it possible be a fair casino. The only way to get that deposit bonus money back is for him to cheat the casino players.Quote: beachbumbabssajjadahmadbwp is a spammer pushing a web casino, and has been nuked:

I flagged it but nothing happened. Would you explain the flagging process or is that a secret? It was very clear when it was first instituted but not so much now. With all the administrators and moderators we now have, secret and not so secret, has the flag option become obsolete?
The poster was nuked and the links removed but the post is still there as of right now. Don't posts like this usually get removed in their entirety?

I am not sure myself how the member flag works; I'm assuming it generates a notice one of the original moderators sees, and I don't. When I flag a post, it gets removed. I disabled the links but chose to leave the post as evidence why I nuked the member, so it could be linked to in the suspension list. The Wizard or Mission are welcome to remove it, but I was too quick on removing a post one of them wanted to see a month ago, so I've left it for now.
I'm pretty sure it's worth leaving the flagging option; there are many times members see an obvious problem before any of us.
The longer someone was a member, the more flagging privileges they had. It would take many flags from newer members where only a couple from older members would remove a post.
I have flagged posts and seen them disappear right before my eyes. All that meant was that my flag was the final straw. It didn't indicate how many others flagged it or what their seniority was.
It seemed to work. Although there was always potential for abuse, I never heard of any.

Some may argue that it was in retaliation for this thread. However, I will let that one slide, as a fair reference is the infamous election bet between Keyser and Mission.
That is two suspension from me in a day. However, it is still early and I'm looking to score a hat trick.

Language is a funny beast.
It's the same way so many people don't know the difference between "inasmuch as" and "insofar as" that people who use the former properly tend to sort of mean both. And how do you think the two got different meanings in the first place?
The battle is lost - "asinine" does mean "silly," but it's too late to stop it from being more pejorative than that. More so when you look at the etymology - "donkey-like." "Jackass," which clearly means the animal, means both foolish/vulgar and stubborn/pugnacious. Wouldn't you expect "asinine" to be similar?

That's the beauty of it. Insulting non-members is a non-offense. So once the troll is nuked, you can say whatever you want about it as long as your post isn't profane.

No, I think I read somewhere b4 you can't insult anyone, member or not. If we can insult non-members, then I got a whole bunch of questions as to what type of insulting things I can say, that a member might find offensive, even though it wasn't directed at them...even though it's pointless because I prob wouldn't say it anyway, with the exception of a possible naughty juiciejennie poll. Clarification please?
Quote: SonuvabishNo, I think I read somewhere b4 you can't insult anyone, member or not.
You can insult non-members, including nuked members. However, forum rules still apply about profanity and generally acting like gentlemen.

so is a member a member for life in the context above...even if they havent posted in weeks, months or years?
do we have access to a list of members?
Is obama a member?
I see Frank Sclobete is a member but I i didnt read the very few threads that he occassionally posts on, I wouldnt know it.....and If i mention him unfavorably in a manner where I call him an idiot(I dont no much about him.....I am just using this as an example)...in another section of the board, having not read his handful of entries here and there by him.....it would be a suspension because he is a member ...even if I wasnt aware he was a member.
I think I may have avoided a suspension because I had strong words for John Patrick......and I have no idea if he is registered.
are there certain noteable people that we should know about who are members?
if I wanted to reference mel gibson as a bigot.....is he registered here(he seems to have time on his hands)? Obama as a liar....has he registered...maybe before he became president...

If somebody is itching to insult a non-active member, let me know. We may have to take it on a case by case basis. As a generality, I would frown on someone signing up and doing nothing, just to avoid getting insulted.

i was asking the opposite...if someone came on here 5 years ago, 1 year ago, 3 months ago....to post something......are they off limits....just by being a member....do they have the cone of silence around them.
not by original intent.

The general rule is anyone who has ever made at least one legitimate post, and isn't nuked, has insult protection. I'm open to making exceptions on a case by case basis.

Is this similar to "drop dead protection" from Franklin Delano Romanowski?
I remember that Gamblor nick. He posted something about "a Zone" which was very reminiscent of a Hippie having Vibes and being in tune with the universe.Quote: Mission146Gamblor has been nuked for Personal Insult and Trolling:

I see nothing wrong with ignorant posts as long as the poster maintains a properly receptive stance to being enlightened with at least some new information. People have come on these boards believing a great many myths and even spouting them vociferously. That is bad enough but the fault lies in clinging to the myths and doing it in a loud and offensive manner.
All suspensions a week or less are no longer appealed or even up for debate. If you're due for a suspension longer than a week, then you can weigh in, as well as all your attorneys. However if you think the under a week ban was so terrible and wrong, you can appeal in pm when you get back.
Why should the mods and the Wizard have to consider parsing every short suspension? It looks like a PITA. And if you've already been banned more than a couple times your appeal will probably not be all that appealing anyway, and you'll be executed forthwith after the quick showtrial.
However if the current way of doing things seems better, carry on.
thanks.
