I'd like to take a moment to wish WoV's tireless moderator a happy birthday and thank her for her hard work making sure we all behave ourselves.
The question for the poll is what do you have to say to Barb on her big day?
I was at 1:30 am
happy bday BBB

I jest.
Regardless, happy birthday babs.

Ooo, I forgot about that rule. Good thing you're jesting, I'll have to suspend myself if a formal complaint is filed.
you rudely ignoring it? Good for you..

Personal insult. Three-day suspension.

Barb. If I called you rude, would you be insulted?
Quote: WizardBarb. If I called you rude, would you be insulted?
Definitely not in that context. He's not calling anyone rude. He is asking someone if they are being rude. Rude in this case is just an adjective to the observed action of ignoring in the question. A person would have to get an answer from the one being asked the question to know if they were or were not actually rude.
It seems that he could be suspended for mentioning a banned member under the rules though. However you did that yourself first.
Technically, he asked if she was rudely ignoring it, however, Bob has gotten away with a few he shouldn't have so he should just consider it a wash.Quote: MaxPenDefinitely not in that context. I think precedent has been set that "asking" would still be insulting, otherwise we can just get around the insult rule (and likely many others) by "asking" something.
What if you are legitimately asking somebody a question, aad no, I'm not talking about asking someone a question that's obviously meant as an insult "are you an idiot? "Quote: RSI think precedent has been set that "asking" would still be insulting, otherwise we can just get around the insult rule (and likely many others) by "asking" something.
Calling somebody rude hardly seems to be an insult to me. I'm fairly certain we can find many cases on this forum where we have called each other rude recently. BUT..... That comment was obviously meant to push some buttons since we all know her and Nathan didn't get along. This was supposed to be BBBs happy birthday wishes. Given that fact, it certainly seems that the inappropriate thread and time to bring up Nathan and deserving of a suspension.
Now how am I going to know what eb is eating for the next few days? Does he have a Utube?

In this particular case the ignoring part is fact. I am presuming as I have not looked at DT for confirmation. Rudely is merely an adjective of the undisputed action of ignoring.

The forum is like a town with super low speed limits. At any time one can be randomly cited for seemingly normal actions. That's one reason why less and less traffic is on the road.
Ya don’t see those often.
I'm sure you're aware that BBB and Nathan had some "serious" forum issues.Quote: MaxPenThe forum is like a town with super low speed limits. At any time one can be randomly cited for seemingly normal actions. That's one reason why less and less traffic is on the road.
I didn't read what was going on over there at DT either. I'm fairly certain BBB isn't even happy with the fact that Nathan is on DT given the scathing post Nathan made to her. Is it just my imagination or was the C word was used(?) Anyways, I bet BBB WAS ignoring Nathan's birthday wishes, and rightfully so. So now Bob comes on here in BBB birthday wishes thread and can't leave well enough alone. He could have just wished BBB a happy birthday. But no, he has to bring up Nathan. It seems obvious BBB doesn't want to acknowledge Nathan's existence and I'm sure Bob knows that. It seems to me that the Wizard didn't find what Bob was up to very tasteful and suspended him for it.

Thanks for letting me know that I am right on the matter. When it takes 4-5, more than 3 assumptions and/or presumptions to defend an obviously wrong action you can be assured that your initial observation of wrongfulness is correct.
😀😀

Yeah, he's most likely guilty of something. Since that is so easy to be. Therefore all is right regarding a wrongful action. 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Ever consider running for Congress?

- Law sufficiently unclear that anything can be brought against anyone. The aim is to get people to fear the authorities.(*)
- Arbitrariness rules. Some major infractions get looked over, some inexistant infractions are sued.
- The accuser is the judge. No discharge inquiry.
- Facts do not matter. It is all in the judge‘s subjective appreciation. « If I call you that, do you feel insulted? »
- The accused person’s intention is not investigated. The judge knows better what your intention was.
- The supposedly insulted person has no say in the matter. Only the judge ‘’knows better’’.
- Suspect = accused = condemned without hearing. No defense rights. No innocence.
- Only one sanction.
- No jury, no appeal. You depend on the whim of one judge, even if all others would have stated differently. If asked, they never dare contest their colleague’s decision.
- When accused (=condemned), you are put under secrecy - no way to call for justice.
- Sentence duration arbitrarily prolonged. They don’t even respect their own so-called Martingale rule, already ludicrously unright..
(*) For instance, my use of the word ’totalitarian’ could be construed as an insult. My criticism of the judicial system could be construed as ‘personal’ insult to its creator. This is how you forbid unwanted free speech.

I see from the suspension thread that you were released late, so I apologise for that. However this post of yours was an insult to wizard and the moderators here, so it has earned you another suspension. Let extra time served cancel out what's due now.
This forum is not a democracy: It's a benevolent dictatorship. We are all guests here with zero rights beyond what the operators may grant from time to time.
Now all. If you wish to debate the rights and wrongs of suspensions, take it to the appropriate thread. Doing so here has become a thread hijack.
Happy Birthday, Babs. It’s the same as my godson’s.
(Sorry I was ‘’retained’’ from wishing you at the right moment.)
Quote: WizardOoo, I forgot about that rule. Good thing you're jesting, I'll have to suspend myself if a formal complaint is filed.
It will be interesting to see if EB files a formal complaint when he returns. Vengeance!
(For the record, I think EB’s suspension was definitely NOT warranted this time. He was clearly taking a shot at Nathan, not Babs).
Anyway, happy belated bday BBB.

That was my first thought. Is saying someone is rude an insult? It’s more saying what your description of their behavior is.
What if he’d said babs was being impolite, or crass, or uncivil ? Those are synonymous with the word rude.

I agree 100%. Kub, you're lucky OD pronounced sentence before I did, as I'd have Martingaled you and given you a month, less a week for time over-served last time, for insulting forum moderation and trolling.
As a reminder, we moderators can take constructive criticism as long as it is done in a respectful and polite way.
Quote: MaxPenRude in this case is just an adjective to the observed action of ignoring in the question.
Speaking for myself only, I don't parse the rules of grammar carefully in interpreting the object of an insult. I put myself in the place of the one being addressed and ask myself if I would feel insulted. In this case, the answer was clearly "yes."
If you don't like the rules here or how they are enforced, there are plenty of other forums out there.

Sorry old man
I love you guys. Truly.
Fwiw, I don't go to DT any more. Sometimes the most courteous approach is to say nothing, and that's what I've chosen. All I was doing over there was getting angry at an abundance of posts that were a waste of my time and energy. So I wasn't ignoring any birthday greetings in particular - I wasn't there to see them.
Now, if miplet, OG, OD, rx, and/or Wizard were to start up a Clue game again, I could be talked into playing, happily.
Or if Wizard wanted to put in a chat room with moderated mic use, I'd run scheduled trivia and board games for him. Outburst, tribond, taboo, scattergories, trivial pursuit, several other games are very adaptable to that format. I loved doing that on Firetalk and Paltalk back a few years, and I think it would bring in a lot of fun people over time.
Anyway, I'll stop adding to the derail. Thanks very much, all of you, for the birthday wishes. I've had a very busy and productive weekend and enjoyed it thoroughly.

And minutes later, pokergrinder gets a 3 day suspension in the "Discussion of the Suspension List" thread for laughing at someone's claim that they weren't arrogant. I couldn't make this stuff up.
Clearly, let's all be on our best behavior! Or post nothing at all.

He implied MDaug was arrogant.
Since this is turning into a second DISCUSSION II ABOUT THE SUSPENSION LIST thread, I'm going to close it. Please take air your grievances in the proper place.
