Several people have asked about the date of the Spring Fling this year, but didn't want to be the one to start a thread. It is about time somebody did, so I will. Usually we do it on or near spring break. As a warning, either spring break weekend will be more expensive. Personally, I may be gone the April 27-28 weekend, about a 50/50 chance. I don't insist we work around my schedule.

To get this going, the poll will be for which weekend you prefer. Please only vote if you would likely would attend on your chosen weekend. Feel free to make comments like "Any weekend except xxx is fine."

Thank you.

The 360 Vegas podcast has two meetups each year, called 360 Vegas Vacation. The next one is 5/26-5/28. Check #360VV8 Itinerary, and see the dates for the next one.

I booked my flight and hotel back in September. I arrive on 5/26 just hours before the #360VV8 festivities begin.
Had the dates for the Spring Fling already been set for 5/25-26 before I made plans to attend #360VV8, I would have made it a long trip to do both.

No offense, but the WoV group isn't pro-active enough for these sort of things.

I’m pretty much 100% coming no matter what weekend it ends up being. I’m not going to vote for this reason, my schedule is wide open as long as I have notice to make plans.

The small company that I work for has its own helicopter, I will see if they will let you charter it. If not, maybe we can send one of the company jets to pick you up.

I've been at a few of these. Sadly, very unlikely I will make this one. Too many weekend trips already planned late April and throughout May. If it moves to early June (8 or 15) I cold probably attend.

I have not yet voted in the poll, and my head seems to be spinning without the ability to select an option.

My records indicate that this will be the ninth consecutive year for a springtime WoV gathering, with the event called "WoVCon" for the first few years and subsequently "Spring Fling." I have attended seven of the first eight such events, so I consider myself a bit of a regular. And (so far) I have nothing scheduled for any of the weekends listed in the poll. And I still don't know whether I will be able to attend, because these things seem to slip out of my control without any warning.

Two years ago I had all of my plans laid out and then missed the Spring Fling due to a death in the family. Last year, I attended, but I wasn't a pleasant guy to be around, because I was experiencing my first-ever bout of kidney stones, with no hint about that issue until after I had booked flights and a room. Right now I am dealing with a deteriorating hip, and it is quite possible that I could go under the knife for that before spring arrives, and I don't know what the recovery/physical therapy schedule for such things is like. And I have an appointment in April to follow up with my urologist about those kidney stones and what needs to be done about the ones that are still inside me. It's a bit like that saying: "It's hell getting old, but it's better than the alternative, maybe."

Assuming that I do make it for this next Spring Fling, my preferences would be for it to be scheduled in conjunction with bargain fares from the airlines and inexpensive rooms in Las Vegas. After all, I am an admitted cheapskate. I just haven't yet checked into what the offered room and/or flight prices are during this period.

I am curious about constraints/preferences others might have regarding day of the week. Our first WoVCon was held on a Wednesday evening, but since then the main event has always been held on Saturday evening, with auxiliary events extending over a three or four day period, maybe more. Is it important to folks for the main event to be on Saturday? Of course, part of this cheapskate's motivation in asking the question is that weekends are generally the expensive nights in Las Vegas. I do recognize that some WoV members have those annoying day jobs M-F, but I don't know to what extent that represents a constraint. Comments?

We did a couple in Pittsburgh area. Talked about doing one in AC but it never materialized. Last one we had was going to have a nice gathering but it decided to snow 6 inches or something so most cancelled. Still had a small get together.

Actually, there is a bonus this year: if I show up (and I plan to), Wiz promised to buy a round for the group to pay off the 134,459 or so beers he owes me.

Any weekend is fine by me, although I prefer it not be April 6-7 as I currently have a doctor's appointment scheduled for the morning of April 8. Besides, I expect Vegas to be more packed than usual as that's Final Four weekend.

I'm down, so long as we don't have something mandatory going on that weekend. I'm open to hopefully anytime, but the later the better (so like May).

Yeah as PG said, we had like 20 ppl last time, so I thought it was a pretty fair turnout.

I could be in error, but I'm assuming the first sentence in the first paragraph of the WoV main page is accurate. (One statement in said paragraph is obviously outdated.) Meanwhile, a glance at your own profile page reveals the "week early" dilemma.

So, by pushing the gathering back to November, two birds can be killed with one stone: fling and tinth ... er tenth (with a hefty turnout).

11/2 is DJ's join date. I still can't figure out what 11/9 is. For the few races that vote on the November election date this year, that's 11/5.

Yes it was EDC last year as well. I remember some discussion about rates/prices being "high" :):):) for the weekend.

Speaking generally, after scanning over a few hotel rate calendars and flight pricing sites it seems Mother's Day weekend (May 11-12) is the lowest of the options listed.

I voted may 18-19 because it was the same weekend last year, but I'd prefer to avoid EDC as well so would prefer May 11-12 also.

SooPoo, you need to show up. Gialmere and Minty, you'd be welcome, as would several new members I've noticed. I'd also like to see Glen and FCBLcommish mrsuit31 and other industry people made welcome this time.

We talked about an escape room some time ago. I don't think that got done, but maybe some did? Either way, I'd really like to do one this time with you guys if people are interested.

Can we maybe go to Mob Pizza? I've heard it's really good but I haven't been there.

FCBLcommish

Didn't he say he worked for the darkside?
I thought I asked him in what capacity. I don't seem to recall getting an answer, or perhaps I just missed it?

I can think of many members who would normally like to attend but not until they knew whats up with that situation.

That would be a yes.

A little while back I had a thread about reactions to being barred or backed off. He made me an offer about giving me tips to avoid detection and generally be a better AP as long as I didn't play any of his properties.

For what it's worth, he seems really trustworthy and I know he offered advice on an AP comp maneuver for anyone who would PM him. I COMPLETELY understand your concern though.

I'm personally trying to weigh out the risk of meeting darksiders vs gaining a few allies, learning new plays and potentially setting up the workings of teams with people there.

What properties? Maybe I'm already 86'ed there so it won't matter (-;

I'm not making him out to be a bad guy or anything like that, I have nothing against him. He has been a fine poster on the forum from what I have seen. I wouldn't mind bending his ear and getting some tips. However, I would like to know more about what he does before I expose myself to any potential situation that could cause me problems. Not to mention, people move to other casinos and positions and sometimes even branch out on their own. Surveillance guy today, Griffin employee the next day. That reminds me, a few low level employees I used to work with years ago are now slot managers at various casinos. One chick came to verify a jackpot I hit a few months ago.

Link to that thread please.
