OK, so that slice & dice is now scheduled for April 9, to be followed by 2-3 weeks of physical therapy. Keeping in mind that I already admitted to being a cheapskate and that someone posted the claim that 5/11-12 looked like the cheapest of the weekends in the poll, I have now cast my vote for that option. Now (since the votes to date don't reveal much of a consensus) I will appreciate someone making a decision so I can make reservations without paying premium prices.

I hope we can narrow this down to the May 11/12 and 18/19 weekends. I forgot to put on my calendar before that I will be out of down on May 18. So that is out for me. I don't insist on attending, but I'd like to. That said, here is a comparison of average hotel price per day for those two weekends. As usual, it won't include resort fees.

Hotel May 11-12 May 18-19
Treasure Island $119 $257
Four Queens $89 $229
Venetian $157 $327
Caesars Palace $189 $339

I vote for the 11th as well - especially as I have been in Vegas at the start of EDC, and have made it a point to avoid it since then.

Side note: as a "premium" member of the Mob Museum, I can get $10 off on passes for up to four people (note that people who live in Nevada already get that discount).

It is definitely on my list as well. I heard the tour takes over 3 hours though. Not sure I want to dedicate that much time to it.

It is self guided so you can really go as quick as you want. I probably spent 90 minutes there.

That's good to know. I thought it was a guided one for some reason. I can see 3 hours if you read every single thing. I never do that in museums.

I would like to go then have a drink at the speakeasy downstairs. Then at night visit bone yard.

There are a couple spots where you can sit and watch a film on a continuous loop.

There’s also one spot where you sit for a presentation that lasts about 10 minutes.

And then there’s all the typical museum stuff with little informational placards.

Bottom line, the 3 hours seems to fly by.

I move to make May 11-12 the official dates. Can I get somebody to second that? I agree that the Mob Museum is a good idea. I went there shortly after it opened, but I hear they change things up from time to time. The Neon Boneyard is very cool too, but you need advance reservations. I would be happy to help with that.

I would like to ask for a volunteer to be in charge of organizing the details. It does not require a great deal of work.

That's not the issue. Wife enjoys spending mother day with kids and I have a psychotic mother in law. I think I will get her on board and book non refundable tickets and then a week later mention that I just realized.

I second that, especially as, right after I made my hotel reservation (Downtown Grand, arrive on the 10th, leave on the 12th), it told me, "Oh, did we forget to mention that a condition of the "25% Off" discount you got is that the reservation is nonrefundable and unchangeable?"...

If we do arrange a Mob Museum visit, it will probably have to be on the Saturday.

For past events what is usually the timeline. From trip reports that I can remember, everyone meets for dinner on Saturday. Maybe some group gaming and shenanigans? Then some people get together on Sunday, but not a large group? I was hoping to come thursday night and leave on red eye on Sunday. Looked at calendar and one of our kids has open house on that thursday and friday as well. uggg. We will be able to go to that on Thursday but no way I will be allowed to miss that. Looks like it will be Friday night, but maybe I can extend it until Red eye on Monday night which is cheaper anyways.

I suggest the Mob Museum Saturday afternoon, the usual dinner in the evening, and then gambling of some sort. I am available to lead a hike on Friday or Sunday but I've yet to get any interest for this as a WoV event, ever. Also, still looking for a volunteer to be the official organizer.

hey now.. it is an open house thing. Not meetings with teachers. He is in pre school so they hang up everything the kids have worked on in the halls and classrooms and you get to see everything. I am 100% wanting to go and wife is 50% so that makes the percent 50% as we know my opinion doesnt count.

I would enjoy that. We used to do it with airplanes. Could be a bar run thing, get a drink, have the bartender sign a napkin, give you the next clue and a card. (Wouldn't have to be alcohol.)

They take a group of people and lock them in a room. There is a puzzle built into items in the room that, when solved, will allow you to leave the room. Usually it takes several people to do at least one thing. You search for clues. There's a timer. If you don't get out in x minutes, you failed.

Just so it's clear - it's a team-building game you pay to play. It's not an AP thing.

Just reading stuff here again. I'm not getting your concerns? I don't know a single person on this website by their real identity. I never will. A anonymous nickname/alias on a gambling chat room is nearly impossible to research to make any connections.
I don't see anyone in this group going to be wearing a big badge "Hi, I'm from WOV and my nic is Axelwolf" walking around Vegas any time soon.
I would think these people take precautions pretty seriously.
You may be unnecessarily worried about this perhaps.

I think the concern is if a darksider meets an AP (lets say myself since you can get suspended on here for a week saying other APs are APs) and that darksider sees me later in their casino they will recognize my face and have security follow me around

Naturally I have my masks so I am not concerned. But some of the other ahem Professionals on here dont have disguises like mine

Or, the unpopular (here) truth...

1. Delusion. I don't care a lick most of the time, usually don't find most of them & their routines even slightly interesting either in casinos or in their online forum personas, but I know exactly who half a dozen of the self-described "AP" characters here are anyway, and have for years now. And I truly don't even want to, I have absolutely no interest in them, never did, and most likely never will. Same thing could be said by a number of other lurkers I know. Anyone with even a modest amount of ordinary casual observation & deduction who gives a little bit of a flying fig and spends any significant amount of time in Nevada casinos would have no trouble whatsoever figuring it out. Even those like me who'd just as soon not .

For more than a couple of them they are extremely conspicuous even it they don't think so & their real issues have to do with an inability to behave somewhat normally, with obvious difficulty just getting along around others in a public setting, and being profoundly oblivious to all the obvious cues about that going on around them constantly. If blending in anonymously is truly desired, there are some folks here with certain significant developmental issues who would do well to get some help in that department from folks in the social work & specialized education field who are skilled at teaching basic social skills.

2. Posturing. I have no idea why anyone would ever want to work hard to impress people on a web forum, can't imagine what that might ever really be good for, but for whatever weird dysfunctional emotional reasons involved, some people sure do want that. A few really, really do, a whole lot apparently. And adopting a Secret Agent 006-1/2 routine seems a common part of constructing that facade within this peculiar subculture, along with things like elaborate tales of being "backed off" & the like. In some cases it'll probably be pretty much true, or for some others will involve somewhat juiced-up stories at least partly based on some degree of actual truth, but it would be very foolish to ever take this stuff on web forums at full face value without first cranking the dial on the bullspit detector way up to absolute max level.

Pleae call me Agent Double-O Zero! Agent 000!

As for Back-off tales those sadly are very true. Casinos take a thug mentality and feel they are above the law or that the law is always on their side regardless of what they do

I don't know many APs on a personal level, but the couple I do know are indistinguishable from anyone else. Kind of surprised to see this post and don't feel that it's accurate.

Since we seem to have the dates set, I went ahead and made flight and hotel reservations. We will arrive in town around mid-day on Thursday 5/9 and depart mid-day on Tuesday 5/14. If anyone is keeping a list of such things, please put the Mrs. and me down as interested in seeing the Mob Museum. No, I will still be in recovery mode and will not have any interest in hiking or climbing. Don't think I will be particularly interested in an escape room experience either.

If there are folks who have bothered to hang out with me on previous gatherings (and could stand to try that again), and if you will be around town before and/or after the weekend, please let me know your schedule so we can perhaps get together.

I would like to come to this spring fling 2019. Should I need to DM someone here to confirm on this? This would be my first time attending this meetup.
