Quote: blickI would like to come to this spring fling 2019. Should I need to DM someone here to confirm on this? This would be my first time attending this meetup.
Newcomers are always welcome. We are pretty informal. When it gets closer we'll ask for a more official show of hands.
I forgot about the party game escape room thing for real. Even though I've done one. You guys tend to use a lot of abbreviation and code words. lol
And no, I'm not Nathan.
Upgrading from a bus to a cab eh? Fancy stuff.Quote: darkozIm up for the mob museum
Im definitely not doing any hiking. I will use my AP funds to take a cab to wherever you guys are hiking too
If its a mountain I will meet you at the bottom upon your return
I suggest uber or Lyft.

Do they have public buses in vegas. I figured the desert wind shut them all down
*If I am able to attend, I might even be interested in the proffered hike!
Quote: darkozDoes walking from one end of the strip to the other count as a hike?
A tired looking girl in a scanty dress carrying a flip phone asked me for directions. She said she walked up and down the strip 3 times and could not find the Rio. Then she asked me if I had a girlfriend for some reason. Weird.

I hope you'll make it and accept the hike. In the many years we've done this, I've yet to have anybody accept my hike invitation. I will say there is a new member I've tortured with a few hikes, who did very well, but not an official WoV hike.
I can go anytime except Apr 15-30.

I wouldn't mind doing the hike if I were staying longer. Not sure I could keep up with you though.
Why?Quote: GWAEI wouldn't mind doing the hike if I were staying longer. Not sure I could keep up with you though.
You do know there are no soda pop prizes if you reach the top?

You've now hurt my feelings. If you don't remember I joined you and your son on a hike which included some climbing. After about 1% of the hike I decided the climbing part was not for me and deferred..... My pathetic effort does deserve mentioning....

Don't sell yourself short. You completed about 5% of it before you quit and turned around.
Quote: MintyI don't know many APs on a personal level, but the couple I do know are indistinguishable from anyone else. Kind of surprised to see this post and don't feel that it's accurate.
You are new here. You'll learn.

Why wouldn't I mind doing it? For being fat I do a lot of walking, hiking, tennis, and various other activities. I just happen to like pop and ice cream when I am done..
Quote: WizardDon't sell yourself short. You completed about 5% of it before you quit and turned around.
5% of the total length or did it end up being 10% of the total when he turned around walked back?
I want to get him all the credit I can!

Did you give up on your diet? i was rooting for you.
Quote: DRichDid you give up on your diet? i was rooting for you.

You’re still down 10 pounds from your ATH. And were able to lose 20 from your ATH. Idk how long you went without soda but I thought you went for quite a while. So you know you have the power/ability to do it since you’ve done it before.

It was quite a while. TBH since I went off the official diet I have only had a pop maybe 5 times. I really don't crave it very much anymore. I am definitely not addicted to it anymore. My wife has not had a pop since Jan 1st.
You keep telling yourself that.Quote: GWAEI am definitely not addicted to it anymore.
We been dancin' with
Mr. Brownstone
He's been knockin'
He won't' leave me alone
No, no, no
He won't leave me alone
I used ta do a little but a little wouldn't do
So the little got more and more
I just keep tryin' ta get a little better
Said a little better than before....
Quote: rdw4potusIt's a real shame you didn't notice it was mother's day until after you booked your travel, eh?
I chickened out and didnt do it. Stupid me. I told her to make it fair we will also go away for fathers day.
We have a planned vegas trip in Oct. My gold mgm card expires in Sept. I told her we need to go in may so that we can upgrade back to diamond with the tier match. Whixh would save us about 500 in Oct. With resort fees, dinner, and show.
Quote: WizardI move to make May 11-12 the official dates. Can I get somebody to second that? I agree that the Mob Museum is a good idea. I went there shortly after it opened, but I hear they change things up from time to time. The Neon Boneyard is very cool too, but you need advance reservations. I would be happy to help with that.
I would like to ask for a volunteer to be in charge of organizing the details. It does not require a great deal of work.
Did we ever say the 11th is the official date?
Quote: GWAEDid we ever say the 11th is the official date?
Yes it was. A few people have booked flights and I’m in the process of booking mine right now.
Quote: PokerGrinderYes it was. A few people have booked flights and I’m in the process of booking mine right now.
Ok I thought so just making sure. I know wizard suggested it but didbt remember another post after with confirmation
(Note: edited your typo for clarification.)Quote: AxelWolfCan someone start an official list of people who are coming?
If someone is willing to do that, it would be best if it were someone with admin privileges, i.e., someone who can edit their posts without hitting an editing deadline. Then they could put the list as the first post in the thread and continue to edit that post #1 as there are additions and deletions. That way, the person keeping tabs doesn't have to keep typing in the whole list each time there is a change, and people who just want to see the updated list only have to look at page #1.
As a starting point for whoever wants to fill that role, my wife and I plan to be there. Once a list is started, others can post their plans in that thread.

I will be there as well - arriving Friday afternoon, leaving Monday morning.
My daughter also :)
Ummm, are kids allowed. Obviously not to any gambling but we will have an 8 and 12 year old in tow
Let me know if that is a problem (they may enjoy the mob museum if its got scenes of violence)

I dont want to speak out of turn but I am guessing the group would prefer to not have kids.
Quote: GWAEI dont want to speak out of turn but I am guessing the group would prefer to not have kids.
I can totally understand that which is why i am asking
Unfortunately it may be the deal killer for me coming as its mothers day weekend
I didnt see anything at last years get together which would be kid-unfriendly.
If no one wants kids I probably wont attend (not as an ultimatum but I simply dont have anyway of leaving them out of the picture)
Quote: PokerGrinderNo offence but I think it would be quite odd and maybe a little uncomfortable to have kids at a get together like this.
You still have that court order to stay away from them, eh?

Why? Kids are the future.

They must wear a mask😀
Fun fact: Court orders are not usually recognized in foreign countries.Quote: RSYou still have that court order to stay away from them, eh?
Notice how PG travels a lot?
Coincidence? You decide.
Quote: MaxPenThey must wear a mask😀
I am quite certain they would love that
I am sure my grandkids will be more uncomfortable sitting around a bunch of senior citizens discussing poker plays than you guys will feel around kids
I do think your kids would need to be ok with some language and probably boredom as adults reminisce about times past, etc.
Quote: rdw4potusAhigh's kid attended a couple of these meetings in the past. It wasn't a problem. Iirc, they came to dinner but didn't do the gambling part after the meal.

Good to know.
As for boredom from adults my grandkids have discovered the antidote
Its called the Iphone and earplugs
Wait, who isn't getting comped rooms? A lot of places minimal low EV action can get comped rooms =).Quote: WizardI hope we can narrow this down to the May 11/12 and 18/19 weekends. I forgot to put on my calendar before that I will be out of down on May 18. So that is out for me. I don't insist on attending, but I'd like to. That said, here is a comparison of average hotel price per day for those two weekends. As usual, it won't include resort fees.
Hotel May 11-12 May 18-19 Treasure Island $119 $257 Four Queens $89 $229 Venetian $157 $327 Caesars Palace $189 $339
Sadly, ditto.Quote: PokerGrinderI would be interested in going to the Mob Museum as I have somehow never been.
Quote: RomesSo is the weekend of May 11/12 the official weekend now?? Seemed like the Wizard was trying to get everyone to confirm, but I didn't really see the consensus.

I am definitely in for MM but I will more than likely be done with it in an hour.
I think it was discussed to do it on Saturday. For those interested maybe lunch early, then MM, then drinks at the MM speak easy........ whatever or nothing in between. Then meet for the dinner. Then some drunken debauchery after.

I will end up babysitting grandkids while my daughter joins the drunken debauchery
