Most everybody IS doing better. The folks who aren't now, are those whose jobs left for one reason or another, none of which was up to Obama, but a fair amount of which was up to Trump, who finds his own outsourcing an inconvenient truth.

Nobody has a right to a job. Whether it becomes obsolete, gets moved offshore, gets replaced by robots, whatever, it's up to the individual to retrain, move on, change careers, whatever it takes. It's my perception that those who would whine and blame others for their troubles in a consistently rising economy, instead of making those pragmatic moves to improve their situation the last 8 years were a sizeable portion of Trump voters. Incomprehensible that they think he gives a damn.

Of course people are doing better in the short term. When you borrow 9 trillion dollars to fund a massive welfare state, but you don't actually raise the taxes on people who are alive right now, nobody feels the sting. Our kids certainly will though. As taxes creep higher and higher to finance the massive debt that we have and we experience even more outsourcing as companies leave the high taxes that will eventually have to be placed on them. I could make someone else's house look mighty nice for 8 years if they let me borrow millions of dollars on their behalf. 30 years down the road when they declare bankruptcy hardly anyone will notice that I greatly contributed to their financial troubles.

And that's why Hillary got elected, by pushing
the 'everything is fine, it couldn't be better'
mantra. By convincing Americans that they're
really happy and not mad or dissatisfied at
all. What was she always saying? America
is already great! Worked like a charm.

They don't think he gives a damn, they just put the blame squarely at the feet of Obama rather than Bush. The rising tide did not lift all boats, but the people who are now drowning are the folks that need the most help re-learning to swim. The GOP's answer is just to let them drown -- problem solved. Darwinism at its finest.

The real problem for those voters vis-a-vis Trump is that he's a selfish liar who never had any intention of helping the struggling workers in this country. He's stacked his cabinet with rich people who will steer dollars into the pockets of his children rather than the children of the struggling working class, and every major campaign promise he made at his raucous rallies has now been walked back:
Build the wall! Nope.
Lock her up! Nope.
Repeal and replace! Nope.
Deport them all! Nope.
Drain the swamp! Nope.

So much for "telling it like it is" and "not being a typical politician." A lot of us saw that coming, but not quite enough to prevent Mr. Chaotic Neutral from becoming president. (Seriously, those who know D&D, tell me I'm wrong about Trump's alignment...)

It is? I'm on the Internet a whole hell of a lot and you're the first person that I heard about this from.

Just google "Johanna Ah Nee".

Like I said, it's all over the internet.

Perhaps you should actually take the time to read what actually shows up when you do that:
Quote: article

When Zullo was asked by the press where he got Ah’Nee's birth certificate from and how the team was alerted to it, he refused to answer. However, when The Arizona Republic contacted him after the news conference, Zullo admitted that he obtained the information from author and right-wing conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi, the man who wrote a book on the subject. When the sheriff's posse member was pressed about where Corsi received the information about Ah'Nee, Zullo responded,“I have to be honest with you, that’s a really good question. Because either that’s an unbelievable coincidence, or there’s something else going on.”

And there you have it, the "convincing proof" was obtained by talking to a random author who wasn't at the hospital, had no connection to the Hawaii Department of Health, and has a financial stake in pushing this lie. With that kind of stellar police investigating it is no wonder there were hundreds of botched sex crimes cases in the county.

So essentially, your fake news source, The Daily Banter, claims that Arpaio's claim that the birth certificate is fake, is fake. Why not just quote People's World?

Quoting the Arizona Republic is not "fake news" no matter how much as you may like it to be. Sorry to burst your conspiracy theorist bubble but you are being conned. And what's worse, you seem to enjoy it.

You may not like the editorializing at the end of the first article I quoted but it's accurate. Garbage investigation leads to garbage conclusion. And you believe the garbage because it's more entertaining than those boring, pesky facts.

What's this? Some kind of a joke? I commented on what you linked, a left-wing rag The Daily Banter, not the Arizona Republic. What kind of legitimate news source runs a headline calling someone an idiot? The Daily Banter does.

Look, you didn't process the document, and I didn't process the document. So you don't know squat, just like I don't know squat. So you are nobody to be telling me that I'm gullible, because you are immovable and know no more specifics than I do. Lockstep partisan.

Once again, you demonstrate that you don't read the source material. Go back and try again.

Yeah, I do know more than you do because I actually read the article. When you learn to process facts rather than just parrot right-wing conspiracy theory BS, maybe I won't think your credulity is wanting. But not until then.

Is this like you telling me about "critical thinking" again?

Your reading the article still doesn't mean that you performed the physical examination of the document. So you, too, are parroting. Unless either of us were actually involved in the test of the document, neither of us really know anything. Wanna cracker?

Your grasp of epistemology is wanting. So is your belief that when a cop looking for a conspiracy theory talks to an author who peddles a book on that conspiracy theory, that makes for the basis of a credible investigation. To skeptical people that doesn't even pass the sniff test, but your sense of smell has been damaged from inhaling too much conspiracy theorist superglue. If you're willing to believe anything World Net Daily publishes, you do not get to pass Go or collect $200.

It doesn't look like they did a physical examination of the document, either.

If they had the actual document, it would be pretty easy to tell if it were an actual form, with actual typing and stamps on it from multiple inks, or if the whole thing was just laser printed.

Hopefully they did that to the "source" birth certificate too, so they could be certain that IT wasn't the one that was manufactured.

Arpaio insisted he wasn’t investigating whether Obama was a U.S. citizen but examining an allegation that the document was fraudulent.

Except Arpaio's conspiracy theory fans aren't really making that distinction, are they? Confirmation bias at its best. Just look at the reaction from the right-wing sites (and certain members of this forum) who not only conclude that the document was actually forged, but it necessarily means Obama was not a US citizen.

It's amazing how much fervent desire to believe something can spackle over gaps in facts and reason.

You mean, someone might have taken Johanna Ah'Nee's birth certificate, cut-and-paste Barack Obama's name in it, and said that it was Barack Obama's original birth certificate?

Certainly nobody would fabricate evidence like that just to prove a point, would they? I am shocked, shocked I say, at the mere suggestion of such devious malfeasance...

Although many have known it for years, never before has it been so obvious where the mainstream media's loyalty lies. Not until this last election anyway. Now, many more people have seen it much more clearly. I've never seen them go after someone so hard as they did Trump. So, the birth certificate could indeed be a fake, which would necessarily implicate some people in pretty high places. It's still not going to be out there if the media suppresses it. It'll take an act of congress, so to speak.

By the way, Jerome Corsi is excellent.

Obvious where the media loyalty lies? The msm is complicit in Trump's election. They didn't do their job. For every lie they challenged, he told 20 they didn't refute. Where were they when he blew off climate change? Worried about pussy grabbing. Nuclear program changes? Same distracting crap.

Where are his tax returns? What about burying the Trump University con job? They let him settle and move on. Now he's trying to squirm away from all the indictable actions of his misuse of his Trump Foundation. He flip-flopped on every position he's held in the last 5 years. After years of dogging Obama with the birther crap and seriously damaging his presidency, they went "oh well" when he blamed it in Hillary and reversed himself.

Where are they when he cancels press conferences, the first he'd scheduled since July, and then blew it off. Oh, well. It's not as if he's been held accountable for anything yet. Why start now? And why shouldn't he get to crap all over the Constitution with his refusal to separate his business from that of the American people? He's doing us such a big effing favor to be a part-time president, we should be glad he's bothering to help us out, for only the price of leveraging our entire existence as a country to his personal profit.

/sarcastic disgusted rant. I suppose I should be glad it's Trump in there, because at least he doesn't believe his own bs, he just panders. If he were gone, we'd be left with Pence, the true believer in his own bigoted policies. God forbid.

The forensics they have now to ferret out

The very interesting thing about conspiracy theories is that they are always touted by a member of some group which is different than the group who is accused of the conspiracy. For example: Jews never say that Jews are involved in a worldwide conspiracy to deviously control the world. Catholics never say that the Vatican has conspired to make life miserable. Blacks never say that blacks are ruining the country. Some whites always find someone else to blame for their problems. They can't face the possibility that in order to see the person most responsible for their misfortune they should look in the mirror. It goes on and on. Bilderberg members never see themselves as a nefarious cult. To summarize: people strive to portray themselves as victims. Being a victim and being tagged as being totally not responsible for your lot in life is of very high status in the modern world. Me - I know I'm the Good Guy. And You - who are very different than me - You must be the Bad Guy.

It's all so very, very backwards and pathetic.

A lot of people don't see the MSM the way you do. While there may have some level of incompetence on the issues you mentioned, by and large enough voters either ignored those stories (of which there were many, not few) or decided that they did not outweigh a different kind of bad in Hillary Clinton and were convinced that it was time to shake up the system to get Trump elected. The MSM did their best to prop Hillary up throughout the campaign; did you hear them whining on election night? If that doesn't convince one that they were in the tank for Clinton, nothing will...

The person who connects with people--not just the elites, the wanna be elites, the self-righteous, academia, etc.--is the person who will win the election. Barack Obama's political career before 2008's election was pretty much defined by his speech at the 2004 Democrat National Convention. Yes, he won a couple of elections and he was around some in those offices, but he had little experience but lots of talent behind a mike (don't get distracted too much by the teleprompter issue...that shows inflexibility but he delivered the speeches and delivery counts...anyone else reading the prompter would not have done as well). Obama won over a candidate with vastly more experience...and that did not connect with the electorate as well.

It is pretty simple. Hillary was the more experienced candidate. Hillary has been part of more scandals in political positions (including as a political wife; the First Lady has her own staff, so she is in an office of sorts) in her past than just about any other politician. Hillary still had a huge advantage. She had an advantage in being a woman that seemed electable to many based on her experience, which cornered a decent sized group of voters. She could have beaten Trump, but all of her faults added up to more than her own personal ability to connect with people.

Trump may be all the bad things everyone says he is, but I doubt it. He may be a great President, a good President, or a poor President...we don't know yet. The one thing he didn't have in getting elected is the support of the MSM.

I didn't say she was worse than Trump. She just did not have the ability to sway the voters in enough states to win the electoral college in spite of her past. Trump did. She even took some very important states for granted. I watched her; I watched Trump. The difference in energy was huge. It was as if she expected a coronation, not an election. Trump was a tough opponent for her (and more than a dozen others...) but he could have been defeated. Obama in 2008 would have beaten Trump.

I am kind of glad that lowlife scumbag went after Trump's daughter on the plane. Of course, I hate it for her and her kids...it was ugly and unnecessary. It was also rude to all the people just trying to travel in peace. No, I like it because it shows what scumbags exist on the left...the same left that is spending all kinds of time talking about scumbags on the right. I've seen the attack defended on one of these forums...that is disgusting and unacceptable.

Then I see equally silly things about her flying coach. Of course, the same folks would bitch about it if they saw her climbing on one of her dad's many planes, too.

This type of idiot does stupid crap like this when he should be working to get better results in the next election. Attacking her, in front of the kids, only makes her a more sympathetic character and makes him look like the ass he is.

Where is the groundswell of Liberals/Democrats/Anti-Trumps outraged at this guy?

Come on dude, Get Real. There are way too many idiots out there on both sides for people to get emotional about every one who shows up. Usually, it gets reported and that's it. People haven't got that much emotion to spare.

I am "real"...and I don't really expect a damn thing to happen.

Funny, though, there is more emotion out there than you seem to let on.

This is a very naive post. You cannot accurately blame a race, a religion, a group that people are born into. Because the people who are involved in ushering in world government come in all flavors, they've chosen it. The Bilderbergs are CERTAINLY nefarious and working for world government. No one was born a Bilderberg. World government is EXACTLY what they are working for. This is not difficult to research. It's not a theory.

That's what he said, he has no interest in the
media, he's going right to congress. He
already has several interested congressmen.
The forensics they have now to ferret out
forgeries is astonishing. He said they set
out to prove it was an original, and it was
supposed to be a very mundane investigation.
But when it started flunking every credibility
test they put it to, everything went into high
gear.

I can only hope that happens, the truth needs to be established.

In the meanwhile, I'm hearing of some very nasty plans by the extreme Left, anarchists, etc., to disrupt the inauguration. It's frightening. Very frightening.

No, you can't blame the circumstances of a person's birth. Nobody gets to choose that. You can, however, blame someone's predilection for believing in conspiracy theories and having a low threshold for evidence. Being credulous is a personal choice. You can choose to believe in conspiracy theories and fake news or you can choose to think clearly and be more skeptical. The future of the world depends on clear thinking, not mindless belief in whatever sensationalist crap is posted on the Internet. And to preemptively disabuse you of the notion that I'm merely being melodramatic, consider that two days ago, the defense minister of Pakistan -- a nuclear-armed country -- threatened to use nuclear weapons against Israel on the basis of a fake news story.

We live in an era where misinformation is being weaponized to a degree not seen in the past. Three weeks ago, some moron shot up a pizza parlor as he was "investigating" a fake news story about Hillary Clinton being linked to a child sex slavery ring. Don't become the unwitting bullets in someone else's gun.

I was listening to NPR the other day where they interviewed some cat who had made somewhat of a fake news empire. It was basically a guy killing his free time trolling political forums and in the span of 3 or so years turned it into a $40k a month waterfall of cash. He had a scrapbook featuring all of his "stories" that made it to CNN, Fox, etc as real news, and as the scrapbook included more than one article, I found it shocking (and disturbing, horrifying, shameful, etc). I say again, some cat concocted stories for profit, and the largest media force in the world ran (and still run) them as real.

I've been studying the movement toward world government since you were wearing diapers. It's centuries old. It's not a theory, and it's not even a conspiracy, because conspiracies necessarily require an element of secrecy. Of course, they have kept it secret from you.

The reason we are hearing so much about "fake news" lately is because they fully intend to use that term to censor certain information. Sorta like China does. Ask Mark Zuckerberg. I'm sure he has learned a lot from visiting Communist China's Propaganda Minister, Liu Yunshan. The Chinese Communists are the world's experts at controlling people.

You think I'm so important that an elite cabal of global conspirators is keeping something secret from me? That's almost as strange as your admission that you've spent decades studying this elite cabal of global conspirators in the first place.

Even if somebody believed in and was working for World Government that doesn't mean they're nefarious. It's just an idea like any other idea. Anybody that wants to have this idea or work towards it is free to do that. We're not going to punish people for having a thought are we? And no, I'm not one of them. It has close to a zero chance of being taken seriously or being implemented. What's the big deal? There are lots of ideas out there that will never come to pass. Here are the top 10 conspiracy theories for anyone who wants to go for it:

The JFK Assassination.
9/11 Cover-Up.
Area 51 and the Aliens.
Paul Is Dead.
Secret Societies Control the World.
The Moon Landings Were Faked.
Jesus and Mary Magdalene.
Holocaust Revisionism.
The CIA and Aids.

I'll say it again. It is not a theory. You sound like you are very young. If you cherish freedom like we have in the United States, then you do not want world government. People that want world government are like Lenin, Stalin, Mao. These are not nice people. Only tyrants want world government. You mentioned Bilderberg. They are QUITE nefarious.

"We shall have World Government, whether or not we like it.
The only question is whether World Government will be achieved by conquest or consent."

I submit that UNLESS the peoples of the world come under the control of a single political body the proliferation of nuclear weapons will inevitably lead to their use and the immolation of earth in nuclear war.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

When our nation joined the United Nations, there were images of the "new" monstrous weapons used in a propaganda campaign to scare us into joining. At the time, our people were weary of war. It was sold as man's last chance for peace. Only TWO of our 100 senators even read the UN Charter. There have been more wars since the United Nations than before. The UN is a war organization, not a peace organization.

Imagine what it is like to live in Cuba. There is no free speech at all. You can be imprisoned, you WILL be imprisoned, for criticizing the government. There are "block captains", who spy on everybody in the neighborhoods. Children are encouraged to report their own parents. Cuba is a prison.

Now, take that image of life in Cuba, and multiply it times the whole world. That is what world government will be like. Get it?

The most powerful force on this planet is the United States Military and the Government behind it. Do you really think that whatever egomaniac is President is going to give up his power to a World Government? I don't think so. Stating that there have been dictatorial regimes in the past and that there are some out there now does not in any way prove that the U.S. is moving towards that. Just because Castro, Stalin, Lenin and Mao were tyrants it does not follow that anyone with an idea towards World Government also is planning for tyranny. If I was able to see that our country was moving close to this I would join you in fighting against it. But I just can't see it. I don't believe it's there in any kind of significant way. I don't agree that the U.N. is a war organization. Just saying it is does not make it so. The U.N. is too fractious to say that it stands strongly for anything other than maintaining itself as an idealistic and at times nonsensical forum.

You've made the leap from a 66-year-old quote to the conclusion that world government is not only inevitable but it will necessarily be a Cuba-like dictatorship.

That's a remarkably dire prediction, but also remarkably unlikely given that the tenure of our constitutional republic has lasted generations longer than any dictatorship ever has in the history of humanity. Your doomsday prophesy is, thankfully, roughly equal to my odds of coming out on a hard nine at the craps table.
