Excellent! My apologies for assuming sarcasm where it was not present. Nareed has been diligent about posting the official WoVCon][ scheduled activities mid-day on Saturday, and you can see in this thread some plans for WoVCon 1.5 on Friday night, plus a few of us plan to go to the play downtown on Saturday evening. You and your wife would be most welcome at all of these activities.
Are you a Vegas resident, or just in town at that time?
For the record, everyone (and spouses/guests) who are in town on 5/2 are invited to WoVCon 2a. Sure, much of the focus of the discussions will be the ShuffleMaster event, but we're in town for more than that....

I think Bob has indicated he is from Minnesota (maybe Michigan, but I think not). He needs his wife's cooperation in order to join us at WoVCon][, so he'll need even more from her in order to make it to WoVCon 2a too. Good luck to all on that!
See the first post ont he thread for information.
BTW it's just nine days until I leave for Vegas. I may stop bumping then... Or maybe not.
Another meaningless, for most, Babylon 5 Crossover:
Sheridan: Michael, are you pondernig what I'm pondering?
Garibaldi: I think so, Captain. But what if the Vorlon won't wear the nylons?

definitely a really loud one.
Quote: loachAny women attending?
Nareed and possibly a couple of wives. None other that I know of.
Ordering online, it looks like the tickets run about 65.95. If there's anybody in Vegas now, could you check and see if Tix4Tonight has it half off? It's not available on the website, but maybe it will be in person.
Again, if you're not familiar with the show, it's truly a musical for anybody who likes a good romp. The songs are catchy, it's not TOO musical-like and it's a heckuva lot of fun. I HIGHLY recommend this show.
Afghanistan next week and because he has never seen his

time as WovCon. So I won't be going to Vegas.
Quote: TiltpoulFor those interested in seeing "The Best Little Whore House in Texas" at the Plaza....
Do you know whether this is a reserved seating performance? I have never been to anything at the Plaza, so I don't know what the showroom is like. Is this something that we would want tickets in a block or just buy them separately, either sitting together if it is general seating or scattered wherever we individually buy seats? Last I heard, it was only you, my wife, and me planning to go, but others may be interested now.
Sorry you won't be able to join us, Bob.

Tell your son "Thank you" from the entire gang on the WOV forums. All those who serve deserve to be remembered every day.
Quote: DocDo you know whether this is a reserved seating performance?
If you try to purchase tickets from he Plaza website, it eventually assigns seats. So yes.

Sorry! But others might be interested. It can't hurt to bump it a little.

You're still invited to WoVCon 2a - as is everybody....

That's what I was going to say...we ALL should wear really loud Hawaiin shirts!
EDIT: I found out the cousin's wedding is at 5pm on Saturday at "The Wedding Chapel"...which is right by the Strat'...so I plan to do a little gambling friday night with everyone, then maybe a little saturDAY...but I gotta skeedaddle around 3:30 to get ready for the wedding...

And we can play the "Impearl Death March" when he arrives, lol.

Tiltpoul
Paigowdan

Nareed
People likely to come:

And a joke... Hmm... I'll try the only Star Wars joke I know in Spanish. it's actually a clever pun:
¿Que guarda Darth Vader en su congelador?
Helado oscuro.
Que la fuerza este contigo...
Also, if you've never been there, be advised that there is another pizza place in the 4Queens "food court", so don't get the two mixed up.
Quote: AyecarumbaI'm not attending, but I wanted to make sure you were all aware that the Chicago Brew Pub is up a flight of stairs, and doesn't have very many seats.
That's been a concern since Paco posted a pic of the place. I'll look it over and talk to someone there beforehand. Maybe they'll set aside space for a large party.

Thanks. Hopefully no one will mistake the place.

In lieu of a joke, I'll paraphrase soemthing I heard about on a podcast about online arguments:
"People go for the low-hanging fruit. They don't attack the strong arguments, but the weaker ones. That's when they unleash their inner jerk and think 'I must TYPE TYPE TYPE because someone said something on the internet.' "
I don't know why that made me laugh. But I laughed so hard I had to pause my workout :)
I have exchanged mobile phone numbers with Tiltpoul and I have provided my number to Nareed. I expect to receive her number when she picks up a local phone to avoid the international charges. I will exchange numbers via PM with any other attendees who wish to do so.
I should not be too difficult to recognize. My photo from last year's get together is available here, with rdw4potus hiding in the rear. A photo of both my wife and me is available here, along with some guy we bumped into.

Dark ice cream? I don't think I get it.

Generally, restaurants will set aside space for a large group if given enough notice, like at least a day. However, I don't know if that place has the room to spare.
As a fallback plan, I'd like to suggest the venue from last year, the Brew Pub at the Main Street Station.

Thanks, Doc, this should be very helpful.
I'll try to post a photo around Wednesday, if I find free WiFi and if all the elctronics behave themselves.
BTW that guy in the last photo looks familiar. I think I may have bumped into him too ;)

I leave for the airport in an hour, finally! Yesterday felt positively eternal, what with the last minute errands, packing, moving stuff from the carry on to the checked bag, etc etc. I'm glad it's done. Now to see if I can sleep all the way to Vegas.
Oh, while I was weighing my bags I managed to weigh myself. I'm not keeping track of my weight, which is odd for someone on a diet, but I was at 5 kilos (about 10 lbs) lower than I thought I'd be :) Now the trick is to come back with no additional mass...
Quote: tuppNew member here. Room for one more?
ABSOLUTELY! Come on down (or up apparently) and join us on May 12. We'll see you at noon.
Edit: And feel free to join us at Main Street Station downtown on Friday night at 9pm for some Craps!
There are actually three times that folks plan to get together, and you are invited to all three. I'll repeat a bunch of stuff from various threads, in case you haven't seen it all.
(1) Friday night, being called WoVCon 1.5. Tiltpoul, my wife and I will be going to see The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas being performed at the Plaza at 7pm. We have already bought our tickets, but if you want to go, there a likely some still available. After the show, we will meet with a number of others at Main Street Station at 9pm to play craps. I think TIMSPEED and Nareed will be there at 9 and rdw4potus will join us when he can make it, probably about 10pm. There may be others, but I can't remember.
(2) Saturday at noon is the main event, being called WoVCon][, as described numerous times in this thread. Followed by blackjack at El Cortez. Should be an even bigger group with the expected attendees listed in Nareed's posts.
(3) Sunday evening 7pm at Fiesta Henderson, maybe being called WoVCon][.1, where we will play whatever game Paigowdan is assigned to deal that night. There is a separate thread on that somewhere around here, and I think we know of six members and two wives who plan to be there, maybe more, plus Dan on the other side of the table.
Let us know at which events we should be looking for you.
Edit: OK, so I rambled more, typed slower, and posted later than Tiltpoul. At least we agreed, I think.
I will be there Saturday (do I need a Hawaiian shirt?) and Sunday.
Friday at Main Street Station is possible, especially if I can bring a couple of nice friends.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
I'm mostly joking, but I'll be there one of the two nights, not sure which.
Quote: AcesAndEightsI'm bummed that I'll be missing this, so I'll propose a WVCon ][.6(b) (Midwest Edition). If anyone wants to meet up at the Par-A-Dice Casino in East Peoria, IL on Friday or Saturday night, let me know and we'll throw some dice together!
That's MY old stomping ground! I used to live in Peoria (for about 5 years actually), and I would play there a lot. I knew most of the dealers. That's a dump of a boat and property, but they do have decent rooms, albeit a bit of a walk from the casino.

I can't make the main event on Saturday afternoon, but there is a small possibility I might be able to get over to the Main Street Station craps table on Friday night. I'm staying at Rio, but I have family obligations all weekend long.
By the way, was there a particular reason to play craps at Main Street Station as opposed to the other downtown casinos?

We wanted a Boyd property, and I think for a while the buffet was a consideration for pre-gaming yumminess. We also need a venue that's far enough out of the way that we'll have some prayer of getting all of us around one table on a Friday night.
I hope you can join us for part of the weekend's festivities. You're certainly welcome to bring family, if that makes things easier.
Quote: renoBy the way, was there a particular reason to play craps at Main Street Station as opposed to the other downtown casinos?
Two reasons, as I recall: (1) MSS allegedly offers a higher free odds multiple, which none of us are likely to take advantage of, and (2) we guessed they might be able to open enough tables that we could all play together.
If that second part proves false, we might have to move across the street or something; that was one of the reasons we decided to go downtown. Earlier, we had discussed playing at Rio (limits possibly too high on Friday night) or Gold Coast (maybe not enough room for a group), and downtown gives more convenient options.
Edit: Ooops! Thanks, rdw, I had forgotten that someone needed to play at a Boyd property.
But generally, I'll be the one who looks 16...lol
And Reno...family obligations, psssh! I'm actually going to Vegas for a cousins wedding! Lol, wovcon just happened to be good timing, haha (or if the wedding sucks, I've always got friends in town, haha)

I'm pretty sure there is no such restriction at the Four Queens or El Cortez. My instructor said the only casinos he knew to post a rule against firearms are the Station properties.
