Quote: WizardI'm pretty sure there is no such restriction at the Four Queens or El Cortez. My instructor said the only casinos he knew to post a rule against firearms are the Station properties.
So you'll be carrying under your Hawaiian shirt.
In a casino. Seriously.
I have a permit to carry, but I only use it at
gun shows to get around the laws everybody
else has to obey when buying a new hand gun.
Quote: WizardBe careful with your Hawaiian shirt and Darth Vader uniform comments. I just got my license to carry a concealed weapon today, and I just might be packing on Saturday.
I like a challenge. I practice my draw watching Gunsmoke.

The only places I have seen posted against "weapons" are Sam's Town and Main Street Station. Both Boyd properties.

I carry all the time. What better place to carry than in hives of scum and villainy?

They're going to Caesars? I thought they were going
to the Four Queens.
Whats the Wiz carrying, a 9mm? Those little .22
magnums pack quite a whallup, and you can put
them in your khaki shorts pocket..
They try to keep a radius around FSE fairly clean (by downtown standards) but you don't have to stray far outside the perimeter to find the Real Downtown.
No way would I go there without the company of Gaston Glock.
I don't even care if they're posted. All they can do is tell you to leave - just like a card counter.
Quote: TiltpoulQuote: AcesAndEightsI'm bummed that I'll be missing this, so I'll propose a WVCon ][.6(b) (Midwest Edition). If anyone wants to meet up at the Par-A-Dice Casino in East Peoria, IL on Friday or Saturday night, let me know and we'll throw some dice together!
That's MY old stomping ground! I used to live in Peoria (for about 5 years actually), and I would play there a lot. I knew most of the dealers. That's a dump of a boat and property, but they do have decent rooms, albeit a bit of a walk from the casino.
im from the midwest too and still occasionally refer to going to the casinos out here as going to the boats :)
Friday night- TBLWIT at Plaza- 7pm; Main Street Station at 9pm for some low-rolling craps.
Saturday- 12 pm, Four Queens WoVCon ][ at the Chicago Brewery for good pizza, trivia and fun times. This is followed by a trip to El Cortez for Single Deck BJ
Sunday- 7pm, trek out to Fiesta Henderson to heckle PaiGowDan.
"We're at Main Street Station"
"WOV Con member thinks he can influence the dice"
"Member rolls a 4"
"Member rolls a 7"
"Everyone wins their don't bets"
"We're at Fiesta"
"Dan is dealing blackjack"
"Dan accidentally pays someone on a push"
"Everyone throws all of their chips to Dan in fear/guilt" (A joke, not meant as an insult at all - I need to write that disclaimer now)
Fwiw, I'm in the car driving down...about 3/8 way there!

Congrats Wiz, and also what a coincidence as I just got my WA state CPL (Concealed Pistol License is what they call it here) yesterday. Although according to this graph (not guaranteeing it's accurate), that wouldn't allow me to carry in NV. I don't even own a handgun yet though, I'm still test-shooting a bunch of stuff and trying to find out what's the best fit for me. If you don't mind me asking, what is going to be your regular carry gun? Sorry for the thread drift, I would start a new thread on guns if I weren't running to the airport as soon as I post this.
To everyone heading to Vegas this weekend, good cards and good luck!

I like the updates. Have a great time.
Everyone DT tomorrow night don't forget the StrEats fest. Lots of great food trucks
That's a 99.9% paytable. I think the Four Queens is 15-9 at the bar which is 98.91%. So you're about at a breakeven game. The 100.17% quarter DB is better with the cashback and lower variance.Quote: rudeboyoioverslept. dont think ill make it down there in time. if anyone sees this there were some pretty good progressives at the bar in four queens near the entrance to fremont street when i was downtown yesterday. if i recall the paytable correctly for a deuces wild game i think it was 15-10-4-4-3-2-1 which pays back 99.42% and had a royal at $1560 for 25cent denomination last i saw. progressive adds about 1.1% return to the game.
The bar at Four Queens is almost always a good play. Golden Gate and Ditz's are good, too.
I will post a full report when I get home to a real computer. If anyone else would like to start that, I think it should be a new thread named something like WoVCon][ Wrap-up. If someone else gets it started, I will add comments and photos when I am home.
Quote: rudeboyoii think purple monster guy shouldve at least been worth half a point for the mcdonalds character trivia question. i still wouldnt have won but would have at least beat my friend who i came with by half a point instead of tying him.
Well, I was the one who graded your answer sheet, and since I didn't know the answer myself, I specifically asked the Wizard about your answer. He would not accept it, but you did as well as I did. (Which means "terrible.")
Thanks!

If it was lousy, people would be on here complaining about it.
Quote: EvenBobIt must have been boring as hell, nobody has said squat about it.
Exactly the opposite. Free wi-fi service I think is a bit more spotty. I wasn't in my room much, and when I was, I was sleeping (about 12 hours the whole trip!!!)
I'll post reports and stuff in my blog later. I have to work today and I'll probably crash tonight. I might start on my lunch today.

Turns out the casinos don't like it when you try to post to a gambling-related internet forum from the tables. Who knew?!? :-)
It was great meeting/seeing and playing with everyone. I'll try to do a writeup and/or blog once I've slept.
Has anyone started the wrap-up thread yet?
Thanks everyone for their hospitality. Thanks Wizard for the book prize and for his time. Thanks Nareed for the Mexican Candy. Thanks to El Cortez for backing me off.
So, I'll post full reports when I get home, or rather a day or so after I get home. In the meatnime some highlights:
WoVCon 1.5 was a fun, tiring evening. I met Doc and his charming wife for dinner before the show, then rejoined them and Tiltpoul. At the MSS we joined up with rdw4potus, Timspeed and Loach (sorry if I left someone out). We dug up a site lurker whose name escapes me at the moment, but that was a nice fnd. alas, he dind't join us the next day.
woVCon2 (sorry, I can't find some characters in this laptop) went well enough, within limitations imposed by my choice of meeting place and gambling activity. I'll post more on that later, when I set up tentative plans for WoVCon3 ;) I had a great time, and I think everyone else enjoyed themselves. Oh, here I want to thank Doc's wife for letting us borrow Doc for three days straight and putting up with us. Everyone seemed to like the candy, too. Of course, someone won the Wizard's trivia game <w>
WovCon 2.1 didn't quite go as planned. Dan's table, he was dealing his EZ PaiGow game, was packed solid he whole evening. So some of us went to play craps while waiting for Dan to go on break. Simple version, we got killed at the table (or we wished we had been). But we did meet Dan, posed for pictures with him, and a few of us managed to squeeze in to his game for a bit (alas, not while he was dealing).
Well, that's it for now. Expect more details around the 19th or 20th.
Thanks to everyone who showed up for any part of the WoVCon weekend. You guys make the event, and it was a treat meeting you all.
