Would you be referring to Pepe's?

Does that mean I should remove you from the hopefuls list?
Neither Hot Blonde nor her friend have said anything about it either way. I assume they're both saving their trip for the weigh-in in October.

That's good pizza! I've been to the original location as well as a couple of others. There's one in Mohegan Sun and you can use your points.
Try the different sodas.
Remember when you we were discussing Book of Mormon, and you had mentioned about a trivia contest between me and Nick to find out who knows more about musical theater? Since we'll both be there, I'm totally up for the challenge.
This is also a reminder if anybody wants to see "Best Little Whorehouse" to let me know so we can figure out the time and date to see it! ;)
Here's a little something to stir the pot, a question I asked Nick last time the Wiz and I played blackjack at his table, and he did NOT know the answer to. Granted, the correct answer is debatable, but here it is:Quote: TiltpoulHey Wiz-

What is the best-known song from "The Pajama Game?"

It is debatable, as there are three songs that you COULD say...
Hernando's Hideaway
Hey, There
Steam Heat
Hernando's Hideaway often gets attributed to Guys and Dolls, since the plot takes them to Havana, and Frank Loesser's score is very similar to that of Pajama Game (who off the top of my head I don't know who wrote it... I think the same guys who wrote Damn Yankees!)

I will be there on May 1, 2 % 3 for the Focus group. If I get even1 vote for beat game, I may never leave. LOL
Either way, time for an official bump:

In the spirit of the Wizard's recent joke on his radio show, I'll go with a related one:
A woman goes into a movie theater and winds up sitting next to a man and his dog. At first she's surprised they let a dog into the theater, but then she's flabergasted when she realizes the dog seems to be watching the movie. The animal growls when the bad guys are on screen, wags its tail at happy scenes, whimpers in sad parts, and so on.
When the movie's done, she tells the dog's owner, "I'm surprised your dog was enjoying the movie."
"I'm surprised, too," the man answers. "He didn't like the book at all."
If you want to hear the Wizard's joke, download his show. I think it's both on the March 29th and April 5th shows.
There! Two plugs for the price of one ;)
Quote: NareedWas it just me, or did the site go down?
I've had connection troubles on and off all day.
There was a guy here at work, fiddling with our network gear. For a while I suspected that this site might have been blocked....
Quote: WizardWould you be referring to Pepe's?
Not specifically but Frank Pepe makes a fine tomato pie. But between NYC, (edit) Westchester and Southern CT I can think of a dozen as good as Pepe.
But when in New Haven by all means go to Pepe's if you want the nations second best pizza. If you want the best go up a block to Sally's Apizza. I do warn that most people are not ready for Sally's. They open at 5pm sharp. On weekends you may want to get in line a few hours early. No matter when you go you will wait in line at least an hour. They do take out but they take the phone off the hook at 5.
Once inside they serve Pizza, Beer and Soda. Nothing else.
The wait staff is indifferent on a good night and surly most. Best not to ask for utensils. Once you order you may wait from 15min to 2 hours. Order beer.
The service is just horrible and by the time your pizza arrives you have vowed to never come back. By the time you have finished you are already planning a return visit.
As you wait in line for most of the evening you will notice certain people just passing the line and getting seated. These people are to be envied. A select group not only have the secret phone # they more importantly have permission to use it.

You got it! I will start to work on some questions. There will also be a general trivia challenge as well.

I think I've told this one before. It's supposed to be a clever pun:
Three sons set up a cattle ranch and ask their father to name it. He names it "Focus," and explains "That's where the son's raise meat."
i don't get it!
edit: the sun's rays meet....ok but what is focus, 2?

I'll retry a sort fo Babylon 5 joke.
Cmdr. Susan Ivanova's Pearls of Wisdom (a.k.a. the Babylon 5 Mantra):
1) Coffee is not essential for life. It is life.
2) Think about it: if morning is the best part of the day for you, that just means all your days will keep getting ever more annoying.
3) Make sure you're certain who sent the flowers.
4) When you're about to do something stupid, make sure you catalogue the full extent of your stupidity beforehand. Afterwards it may be too late.
5) Time may be infinite. My patience definitely is not.
6) Ivanova is always right.
We're 22 days away from WoVCon ][
Yeah, I don't like counting down days, etiher.

Q: How many Starfleet officers does it take to screw-in a light bulb?
A: None. Just press the reset button and the light bulb goes back to the way it was.
Las Vegas here I come!
Finally getting to meet The Wiz, w00t!

Done.
I'm glad to have you on board.
Quote: DocOK now, rdw4potus, if you can post in another thread that you are going to be in town by 9:00 on Friday night and joining us by 10 for some gambling, you can at least tell Nareed to change your status to "definite" for Saturday. We need that "definite" list to be a little longer.
Fair enough! I'm definitely in for WOVcon ][. Also for WOVcon 1.5 on Friday evening (flights permitting). I'll spend saturday evening -while y'all are at the show- checking out the BJ table situation at CalNevAri.
Quote: rdw4potusFair enough! I'm definitely in for WOVcon ][.
I've amended the list. I'm glad you'll be coming.
BTW do any of you have peanut or coconut allergies?
The time is May 12th at noon
The place is the Chicago brewing Company pub at the Four Queens Hotel in Downtown
The lunch is to be followed by single-deck BJ at El Cortez. I can't pin the time any closer than "after lunch" say between 2 and 3 pm
The atendee list is as follows:
Confirmed attendance:
The Wizard (guest of honor, naturally)
Doc
NicksGamingStuff
Tiltpoul
Paigowdan
TIMSPEED
rdw4potus
Nareed
People likely to come:

I have all these old Soviet jokes running around my head today, so:
Beriya: You know, Comrade Stalin, it might be a good public relations ploy to lift the iron Curtain for a week or two.
Stalin: It might at that, comrade. But then only we would stay inside the Soviet Union.
Beriya: We?
Thanks.
So 2A will take place before 1.5? Did Microsoft get involved somehow?
Quote: DocI think I will be alone for WoVCon][, unless I can (or someone can) convince my wife to go along. If that happens, I'll let you know at WoVCon 1.5 on Friday night.
You mentioned she has issues with the 4 Queens, I believe.
Quote:So 2A will take place before 1.5? Did Microsoft get involved somehow?
It grew organically ;)
We could agree to have meet-ups and or cons after May 12th be counted in decimal increments from ][ as WoVCon ][.1, ][.2... or not.
But it's all more or less academic until someone sets up a WoVCon website or something.
Quote: NareedYou mentioned she has issues with the 4 Queens, I believe.
Nope. El Cortez.
I suspect she would be willing to join us at Four Queens, but then if I went on to El Cortez there would be a problem. My wife has not yet accepted the role of driver in Las Vegas, and she wouldn't be willing to hang around Fremont Street alone while we go off to gamble down the street. I think the likely schedule is that I will drop her at one of the outlet malls or even let her stay at Rio during the WoVCon][ activities. Then I will retrieve her for dinner and the play that evening.

Or if she really wants the car, I can pick you up and get you to ElCo and Rio after it's all said and done.
Quote: paisielloHello there, I'm afraid I don't know anybody on the list but I would like very much to meet all of you. Is there still room for one more to attend?
Yes! If you'll be in Vegas on the 12th of May, you're welcome to come. You can even bring a guest or two (or three or four...)
I'm adding you to the list of atendees right now. See the first post on the thread.
There will also be a different gathering at noon on 5/2.Quote: paisielloHello there, I'm afraid I don't know anybody on the list but I would like very much to meet all of you. Is there still room for one more to attend?
Details: WovCon 2a
There's no requirements or membership or whatever at any of these things. Except, of course, that you pay your portion of the restaurant bill.

Bob, I suspect you are poking fun at our little group, but I think it would be great if you really did come to WoVCon][. I know you disagree with Dan on a lot of things here in the forum, but meeting face to face is more likely to lead to better common understanding than to fisticuffs. After all, the pro-house Paigowdan and the look-out-for-the-player Wizard seem to get along just fine.
I'm looking forward to meeting Dan, and I would like to meet you in person, too. Why not make your "thinking about showing up" the real thing?

Check higher in this thread, at least I think it is in this thread. Tiltpoul, rdw4potus, Nareed, and I have tentative plans to look for a low-limit craps game on Friday evening. Since a couple of us will be at Rio and since we think the limits there on a Friday night are likely to be a bit higher, we have discussed going across the street to Gold Coast. I don't think anything has been locked down, so we need to make sure we can get in touch with each other once we get to Vegas. There are a few options for that.

Yup, check another person for Rio (me), definitely interested in going over to GCoast to play craps ($5 game I assume?)
Quote: TIMSPEED$5 game I assume?
It was the last time I played there, though that was on a Thursday night, and $5 is what we're looking for.
Maybe it's close enough to time that those of us who are interested should discuss how to find/communicate with each other in Las Vegas for events other than those starting at noon on Saturday.
If everyone were to have good internet access while in Vegas, PMs through the forum would work. However, I only bring my mobile phone, not a laptop, so I am less than 100% effective that way.
Nareed plans to purchase a mobile phone that works locally (rather than pay international roaming/calling rates) and I have given her my mobile number. She will text or call me to give me her number when she gets it. If anyone else who will be there for WoVCon][ wishes to expose themselves more to the dangers of creepy underworld gamblers lurking on the internet, more of us could share mobile numbers via PM before we go into travel status. Those who don't want to be quite that open should figure out another way to keep in touch with each other.
I get in Thursday evening. I plan on checking in (after getting my car) and doing a sweep of the Southern/Henderson casinos (M, South Point, and a few others) to collect my chips. Friday, I'm hitting up North Las Vegas and doing a crazy run before finally getting back for the meetup at Gold Coast. I know people say I can't do it, but by golly, I'm going to try!
This will be my last post in the 100s of posts... next one, I hit 1000!

Understand completely about not spreading the cell number around. We'll likely need to get most of the Friday night schedule planned before everyone leaves home and then make adjustments by whatever communication techniques we can.
