As most of you know, I'm coming to Vegas to participate in ShuffleMaster's Focus Group of new games on 5/2, showing off my Poker For Roulette side bet.

I still have one of them "real job" things, so there's no way I can stretch it and stick around until 5/12 for WoVCon ][, hence the alternate WoVCon 2a moniker.

I'll be updating this post when important info changes.

What do y'all think?

By the way, if anyone wants to contact me privately, feel free to call at 973-896-7905, or email to info 'at' poker-for-roulette.com. (I prefer email rather than private message).

Updates:

Location:

Wednesday 5/2, shortly after the ShuffleMaster event ends (figure noonish), around the corner at PTs Pub. Any plans to go to a casino afterwards will be formulated on the spot, after lunch.

Attendees:
I, of course, will be there, along with my brother Barry.
The Wiz.
PaiGowDan.
Rich Newman - gaming lawyer Dan & I (and probably some others) have used for our game patents.
Johnny Ma - Triple Aces.
Gary Willis - Hong Kong Poker, along with his guest, Delores.
Buzz Paff - Action BlackJack.
Paradigm - Guest of Brent (Money$uit31). Brent hasn't RSVP'd yet. :(
Greg Lima - Hi Lo Stud Poker.

Head count:
9 plus at least 1 maybe. Several others have not responded yet.

ShuffleMaster is the green point. PTs is the Red point. As you can see from the map, if the wind is coming from the right direction, we'll have a front row seat to watch the takeoffs and landings at McCarran.

Dan, you do know I used to hustle pool in my younger days ? I have a bum ankle from a freezer dropping on it years ago,
Have cut tendons in right wrist from a broken beer bottle in Nueva Laredo bar fight , and am almost blind in my right eye. So if I stand on bum leg, close left eye, use right hand only, would that be fair for a friendly game of 8 ball.
Can't really spot you anything until I can evaluate your game.

Dan -

This past December I was scrambling to use up excess hours that couldn't be carried over. So I have booked my trip for the entire week. Well, almost.

Gang -

I arrive in Vegas on Monday morning, and will stay for three nights where I can terrorize Dan: At the Fiesta Henderson. Nothing major. Just loudly complaining about that stupid dealer push at EZ Pai Gow, while Dan's at the next table concentrating on craps.

On Thursday, I move uptown. Or Downtown if you prefer. I'm staying two nights at the D, where I'll be able to terrorize Nick. Don't worry Nick. I won't attempt to split tens when you have an ace showing.

Just kidding. When I did the EZPG thing last year, everyone knew I was friends with Dan and was just screwing with him.

I fly out Saturday night at 7:15. Land in, get this, SAN FRANCISCO, scratch my ass for 90 minutes, then get to Newark, NJ Sunday morning. I hate Continental. That it's merging with United doesn't seem to be helping matters.

Buzz -

Um, what?

Wait a sec. You normally deal at night. Does this mean that's your weekend? That means I only get to terrorize you on one of my nights there. Damn!

When you arrive ask to stay in one of the upgraded rooms, they have the MGMS old toilets in them. (seriously thats what they used) but from the D's Facebook page it should be decent.

Oh bring ear plugs for when you go to the table games, it is ridiculously loud I wear ear plugs every day at work because it is so loud. Some people are going to call OSHA and complain...

Last October, I stayed at Fiesta for one night, primarily because I wanted to see Dan, and I was going out to the dam, and stopping at all the whistle stop casinos on the way back. Fiesta's location was perfect for that.

The remaining nights, as well as my visit the prior year, I stayed at Imperial Palace. The year before that, I stayed at Sahara.

I chose the D more because of the rates I got than the fact that it's Nick's casino. I could have stayed anywhere downtown and found my way over to Nick's talbe to terrorize him.

When I visit A.C. I frequently stay in motels that can be called cat houses.

Am I painting a picture of someone who really only needs a room with a working door lock to be happy? Mind you, these trips have always been solo. It's a whole 'nother story if the wife is with me.

That said, Nick, you've actually piqued my curiosity. I think I finally have reason to try the $10 check invupgrade trick.

Mike replied to me by email.

He's thinking doing it Thursday, after he gets off the air, (he didn't specify what time that is), then heading to the Palace Station to play some Pai Gow.

In a Dilbert moment, I assume he meant Tiles, which is fine by me, even though I'm a very green novice at the Tiles.

On the other hand, if he meant Poker, then I'd have to put my foot down an insist that it be EZ Pai Gow. Does Palace Station have EZPG?

I will be driving from Grand junction. Wife and daughter will be with me. About 10 years ago I sent them on a 3 day vacation to Vegas, paid for rooms, gave them $1,000. Just wanted them count BJ tables and limits ,slow times and busy times, etc. They took another $1500 from business checking account without telling me. Came back to Denver 3 days later and said they did not have time to count any game tables. But if I would send them back for a week with $2,000 , they would do it for sure.

DJ, Do you make it to AC often?

Define "Often".

I'm not good enough or rich enough to go to ANY casino often.

If I'm doing a one-day 'Hit and run', my preference is Sands PA only because its about an hour closer.

That said, I make it to AC a few times a year.

OK. I've confirmed via email with the key people. I can make it official.

"WoVCon 2A" might be something of a misnomer. The "meeting" will occur immediately after the ShuffleMaster event ends on 5/2. Figure 12:00.

Confirmed attendees include:
Me.
My brother, Barry.
The Wiz - assuming he can get the time off from the Venetian (he HAS asked...). If not, I'll strong-arm him into at least stopping by for a quick drink.
PaiGowDan
Rich Newman - gaming lawyer Dan & I (and probably some others) have used for our game patents.

All WoV members, ShuffleMaster event presenters, and guests are invited.

I'd like to also invite other ShuffleMaster staff members, as well as the focus group members evaluating the games, but I don't think that's entirely appropriate. Besides, I don't have their contact info.

Rich Newman suggested we do it at PT's Pub. It's around the corner from ShuffleMaster's office, with a great view of the airport. If the wind is the right direction, we'll have a front row seat to watch the takeoffs and landings.

Any plans to follow that with a casino visit will be discussed at lunch.

FYI: ShuffleMaster is the green mark. PTs is the Red mark.

I got two emails this morning:

So as not to embarrass anyone, I won't say who, but I got an email from someone who would like to attend but can't commit yet.

---

Gary (Honk Kong Poker) will be there, along with his guest / assistant, Delores.

The hed count is up to 8.

Reminder: I'm keeping the first post in this thread up-to-date with attendee lists and other details.

I got an email from BuzzPaff. He's in!

That puts the head count at 9!

I'd like to remind EVERYONE that this is not just for the ShuffleMaster event exhibitors. It's merely timed to take place right after that.

ANYONE in Las Vegas on 5/2 is invited.

Also, I know at least two of those that responded are bringing family to Vegas, but haven't indicated if the family is joining us at WoVCon 2a.

Please let me know if guests are joining us, just so I can giv PT's Pub a reasonable estimate.

Thanks.

That sucks. Are you gonna be back in town by Friday? I'm staying at Fitz theD Thursday and Friday so I can hang with you.

Who am I kidding? I've always wanted to stay downtown, and the rates at theD are the best for those nights. Hanging with you was just a bonus.

I'm not sure where I'll be Monday afternoon. I'll get back to you.

Also, Greg Lima (Hi Lo Stud Poker) sent me an email that he's going to join us too.

For those that are interested, at around 5:00 Monday, (or maybe a little later), I'll be at the Palazzo, watching the action at the only iTable Roulette table in town. (I'm using an iTable at the focus group, so I figure I better familiarize myself with it.)
