With the Prius I drive and the current gas price here in NJ, I consider my ride virtually free. $10 a week.

Can you factor in the INSURANCE rates in NJ and let us know what the weekly cost is ?

One of the companies I work for has some gas stations. They sell about 400,000 gallons a day. I really don't know if margins increase or decrease with lower prices. It would be interesting to know how the pricing models work.

Sadly, I don't get any discounts.

When gas is going up, generally I think they make more money, because as it is going up, I believe that they have cheaper gas than what is being charged for fair market value on site and as it comes back down, they have more expensive gas on site than is fair market value.

Payed 1.98 a week ago in Miami.
Near the Fort Lauderdale Airport it was as high as 3.05/gallon.

I knew a guy in the 80's that had a gas
station and he said he makes the same
per gallon no matter what the price.
It would have to be that way, you can't
run a business without knowing how much
you'll make on average every month.

You are probably correct if they don't do a lot of volume. Some stations our company has refill the tanks everyday (on some occasions they will get two truckloads in a day).

$1.92 in Atlanta, $1.76 in Warner Robins Ga (central GA on interstate), just over $2.00 in a couple locations in FL, Jacksonville, Port Canaveral.
Talked with a driver at that truck stop in central Ga who was headed to FL from Kansas who said he'd paid in the $1.70s all the way from Kansas.
Winter blend gas is cheaper.
