TBH Bill, when I saw your comment I had to do a double take. I had to google white-board in case I'd been unconciously racist. You should see what urbandictionary has to say on it.

In the UK houses of parliament it is unacceptable for one member to call another a liar. Here, it's not mentioned in the rules, but Liar is a pejorative noun which might constitute an insult.
I personally take it as a serious insult if someone calls me a liar. I accept it if they say they don't believe me.
It is surely acceptable to say that you don't believe something posted.
And I don't know what the precedent is here, so this is not a moderator ruling. It's my opinion.

That's pushing it. I'd prefer you replace "lie" with "an untrue statement," and provide some evidence to support that the alleged statement isn't true, not just say it exists.

This was my thought when I was inquiring into the rules of calling a forum member a liar. Mike has said that is prohibited and that you can only state that what a member is saying is not true and provide evidence. So after receiving clarification from admin, I was going to make a post calling Nathan out. Then in the end, I decided I don't really care. If Nathan wants to spin yarns, what do I care?

Pretty much this, SOOP. As a participant of political threads, you should know folks are allowed to keep and express feelings and thoughts that do not exist in reality. Seems I have little responsibility, as a mod or a citizen, to police such things UNLESS I see a need for defense or protection.
If Nathan wants to post the McRib is back when we all know it's not, I don't care and I'd be interested in an argument why i should. If she posts the McRib is back at her location on a permanent basis and DRich starts packing his bags for a residency change, then I would argue that I have a duty. One is innocent nonsense, the other has real life consequences. (I would put things like the gift card snafu under actionable material, fwiw, to give an idea where my line is)
I think automatic weapons should be completely legal. You're a Bills fan. We're allowed to be unpopular, even, as is your case, completely and undeniably wrong. Imperfection is not an actionable offense =)
Please elaborate on the train wreck some more. I am 100% sure that a train running into a wall at 100 mph would have had mass casualties and would have made national news.

I've been a member here for many years. My membership started solely as in interest in the math aspects of gambling. It evolved into having spirited and sometimes contentious discussions with other members, and that is what keeps me interested, more so than the math part.
Now we have a member telling lies, I am sure just to see what the response is. This is different than a lie which is clearly the result of a subjective opinion (Trump is great, Trump is a buffoon, Trump is good for the economy, Trump is bad for the economy, Trump is a patriot, Trump is a traitor, etc...). If you cannot see that the ridiculous train comments were clearly trolling in nature I can't help you. As well as the hundreds of lottery picks. I can't state this any clearer, the forum does not need a poster like Nathan. It is demeaning to the forum to allow such posts. OD realizes it, just is not sure what to do about it. Same with BBB. You obviously have not read enough of her comments. The fact that the mods have made a special thread so that the rest of the forum is not polluted says enough.....
Her post seems to involve a form of "magical thinking," for lack of a better word.
No point in speculating, other than to urge her to get any needed professional help and to follow through with any recommendations.

My take on this is that the whole train wreck story is a metaphor. Here is my interpretation:
This thread is the train.
Nathan is the conductor.

As I already explained, this whole train wreck story is a metaphor for this thread. Given that you took it literally, there is no other logical conclusion to make than the one you did. So, I'll let this go with a stern warning about calling other members liars. If someone is telling a story that is clearly not true, like EB's invisible dinosaur, maybe it is to make some kind of point.

I think I've read it all. I just happen to think the problem has already been solved.
This is a containment thread, one which appears to be inhabited by a gleeful Wizard, as well as some willing members. That tells me it is mgmt approved and member accepted. As a containment thread, it allows a member to have at it so long as whatever they're having at stays within the thread. This solves the issue of avoiding free speech infringement, avoids authoritative conflict, all while allowing a disagreeing member to block the activity in its entirety without suffering the thread breaking aspect of blocking a member specifically. And as you can block this nonsense while still seeing her actions in, say, the Co-op thread, it's quite the perfect solution, at least as far as avoiding nonsense threads are concerned.
I haven't been keeping score, but I've seen Nathan rebuked plenty. I suppose I assume these rebukes happen in other threads, where postings such as hers are less appreciated and welcomed. That's the system working.
Lastly, I just can't, and try to avoid entirely, being any sort of arbiter of taste and/or value, for obvious reasons. I can suggest this thread be ignored, I can provide argument to keep folks away, I could find the good parts in all of this to see it from a different angle. But I can't see my right to direct its course by use of force. It might be popular, but that wouldn't make it right.

My current signature is talking about the hope that you get good odds in both The Hunger Games and in gambling. In The Hunger Games, the odds are in your favor if you survive a lot of killed Tributes. In gambling having good odds to win more than your bet is a good thing. :)
