I would take it as a compliment and you would be a gem among women if you did. Most I've met are experts at finding a way to be insulted when none was intended.
Then again, my brute honesty is off-putting to men too.
There are many kinds of intelligence, I think they were referring to those lesser known. On a side note, my own parents said about me,"She comes across as naive and simple but if you see her at work you see how smart and efficient she behaves, handling money, products, and customers extremely efficiently like a true professional adult."

To be fair, the YouTube videos were meant to be only a couple of times thing.
Need one last one a few minutes long from the heart, just telling your Nathan's thoughts.Quote: NathanTo be fair, the YouTube videos were meant to be only a couple of times thing.

Thanks Nathan. I was tempted to ASK you to desist from posting them. They almost certainly contributed to this thread getting down-voted,
This forum, generally tries to encourage thoughtful, math-based wagering and the idea of encouraging any kind of subscription to the lottery, in an of its forms, is just an anathma

Pro lottery site? Does that mean professional or just in favor of?
Either way, start playing horses!

A website that is in favor of The Lottery. :)

I figured as much. Posters were implying they were getting resentful of the vast Lottery Predictions and were getting bored with it, and suggested that I put the predictions in a new thread.(The new thread idea was turned down), so I had to go for Lottery friendly website. :)
However, my respect of free speech outweighs my disdain for the lottery, so continue to allow it within this thread. You are welcome to post your picks on another site but you can't post the name or URL of the site. You may say what you wish by PM if anyone asks you.
Quote: WizardYou're absolutely right.
Yet it keeps growing. In these parts used to be one number a day, pick 3 and never on Sunday. That was 40+ years ago. Now they have 3, 4, 5 each twice a day plus the lottos. Why did the mafia bother with shakedowns and hijacking when they had th numbers?
I haven't even bothered to look and see how much Nathan can win(?) If it's not enough to bankrupt you, you should book her action and give her a small discount on the vig.Quote: WizardMy position on this matter is that I'm embarrassed that lottery picks are getting so much traction on this forum. I'd like to think most members are just humoring Nathan in their interest and playing along with it. When it comes to gambling, the lottery has about the worst odds you can consistently find.

I learned a long time ago it isn't worth the fuss to book action on small bets.

It's not the money, it's the principle. How long before people start flocking here for Madame Nathan's magic numbers. She's even giving the stuff away.
Logic will not prevail in our discussions about the viability of tickets as an investment.

Apparently they are both addictive.

I think I'm going to try to veer Nathan's Corner away from Lottery discussions and focus on more important things like good people metaphorically getting shot because of some petty jerk's spitefulness...

What does proverbially getting shot mean?
Thanks..... But I still intend to post Saturday's UK lotto draw results here, just to show how crap the payouts are and to prove that even I cannot always be unlucky.Quote: NathanI think I'm going to try to veer Nathan's Corner away from Lottery discussions and focus on more important things like good people proverbially getting shot because of some petty jerk's spitefulness...

What were the "good" people doing that got them fired? Something that was a fireable offense, and he ratted them out? Or did they have a bad boss, who believed a liar over them being "good" people?
Not sure how "good" people working for a "good" boss, legitimately get fired on the words or actions of a disgruntled employee.

The good employees were holding a shoplifter down one day and the bad guy ratted them out later on after he got fired. It was caught on camera them holding down the shoplifter and they were fired.

So...they...what?
Aren't supposed to touch a shoplifter and got fired for it?
Knew they weren't supposed to do that and it was a firing offense?
Hid it from their boss, leaving the company vulnerable to an enormous lawsuit from the shoplifter?
Have it in the employee handbook and training course how to handle a shoplifter?
Have video evidence from the store security cameras.that the employees tackled/manhandled/sat on/whatever the shoplifter?
And the "bad" employee was the one telling the truth to the boss? Even for revenge or otherwise?
Help me out here, Nathan. Who's the bad employee in the above? I'm guessing all of them.
Face it, there have been worse premises that have become hits.

We had an employee who was fired and then ratted out other employees as being illegals to ICE.
I’d think that was not nice to do. The Walgreens employee was not nice either.
I’m with Nathan.

Absolutely, he should have been doing it all along. Unless of course he would have had to pick up their shifts.
He sometimes described what happened there; he ran after and tackled suspects; he got in a fist fight or two with a nabbed thief, subduing him. never was there an inkling that he couldn't hold them down til john law arrived.
What, you steal from a store and they can't lay a hand on you?
Maybe the mgr. you talk about exceeded his authority in nabbing the booster, but as for being unable to lay a hand on a thief I say BS.

I'm not particularly on the fired rat's side either, but...
"Apparently holding someone down is a big no-no" ?
Apparently? Do you mean this is news to you? Doesn't Walgreens teach their employees on Day1 how they want to handle shoplifting? It probably happens daily in every store they have.
Is there ANYTHING Walgreens sells, within easy reach of a shoplifter, that costs more than a lawsuit from the shoplifter? Or the loss of one or more employees to injury in physical restraint and attendant worker compensation claims? Or inviting that person to pull a weapon on employees or other customers, by threatening the shoplifter into escalating? Or a dozen other bad outcomes?
There is zero chance Walgreens hasn't already evaluated the risks and methods they want their employees to use in dealing with shoplifters. And they must tell their employees what those methods are.
Focusing on the fired employee revenge misses the point entirely.

If that was in his job description, fine. Private security, cops, whatever, they have the skills, the trsining, and the legal permission to restrain or arrest or whatever. And the business has agreed ahead of time what they can do to suspects on their property.
