Quote: GWAEQuote: odiousgambit....on the other hand, once I got married, forget that!
Did your wife come with you last weekend?
No, we often "just do our own thing". She's about to take a trip that just got extended to 10 days so she can visit a sick brother.
I'd like to say 'absence makes the heart grow fonder'. Unfortunately the wife insists we talk on the phone everyday for about an hour when we separate. Really does it for her, really big, so I want to go along with it without protest.
When I got home she really wanted to yak and I found myself having to hide that I really didn't want to talk anymore. I was talked out. It seriously occurred to me that the heart had had no chance to grow fonder.
btw our marriage is strong. I reveal this kind of stuff and think nothing of it, get it off my chest. Friends are often alarmed, thinking divorce is around the corner, that they are just seeing the tip of a nasty iceberg. Not so.
Quote: EvenBobI eat no processed food, it's all made from

all need to be cut into small pieces for
the crock pot.
The best foods are the ones which take the least effort to digest. Beef is bad, as is brown bread made of grains. Eat a lot of junk food in the morning, don't sit around, and you're good to go. (Remember, snakes eat once a day, and crap once a day.)
I've had a lot of experience with helping people overcome serious illnesses, and major surgeries. A lot of arguments with hospital dietitians too. (In that respect, you're better off with a math degree when it comes to properly interpreting the nutrition labels.)
Obviously though, you have to be relatively healthy to go this route. Sick persons should eat more often (unless overweight), and seek out low- fat, sugar, and salt, foods.

Carbon steel probably. They'll rust if you

When buying one of these, do you test it on yourself to make sure it works right? It would suck to actually need it and find out that it is defective.

1) Professional Gambler JP
I just find out more about John Patrick through this link:
http://johnpatrickcasino.com/biography.htm
2) Blackjack Expert Colin Jones
I just watch the CJ's video on how a pitboss backed him off and then flatted-bet CJ. Hey CJ, where can I buy that super hidden camera?
By the way, this video is a proof that Poker is preferred over Blackjack because a pitboss doesn't back off poker players.
Why waste your time and money to be the best like Colin Jones, but then the best cannot play? It's like becoming a Michael Jordan, but then NBA bans you for being the best!
It's paradoxical contradiction, ain't it?

He moved there years ago after his mother died to be near his daughter and grandkids.
Prior to that he lived with his mom in her home.
Hardly "in a multi-million-dollar-home in Short Hills, NJ;" more like a regular home in Clifton, NJ.
He's far from rich.
Stubborn, controversial, opinionated but definitely NOT wealthly from being a "professional gambler."

I used to have one of those remote neck collars for my dog. Great tool, it gave him extra years of his life because I could trust that he wouldn't chase deer or hub caps.
It was great with 6 settings. Me and my boy took turns seeing who could take the highest zap. At setting 5 it would make you pee. Good times.

could be lots of things such as inheritance or maybe he bought Microsoft stock.
"If you had the good fortune to have bought 100 shares at the $21 offering price that day and sat on the investment for 25 years, it would have mushroomed into 28,800 shares over the course of nine stock splits and be worth about three quarters of a million dollars today.
That's the good news. Here's the disheartening caveat: Had you instead sold your stash on Dec. 1, 1999, when Microsoft's stock price reached its peak, you would have reaped $1.4 million."

Your source is more reliable than mine, and that's why I edited my post.
A JP's fan at a casino told me that JP's doing GREAT. JP gets his business corporation in Short Hills, NJ, and makes money.
Short Hills is a rich city like Alpine, NJ with multi-million-dollar homes.
So I assUme* the fan's story is "reliable" and use it as a source of story on JP. http://johnpatrickcasino.com/biography.htm

I ordered these knives today. Amazon has 1200 ratings with an average of 4.4 out of 5. I am not going to open them until I make our first meal at the new house at the end of this month. I was looking at Wuesthof, I could have had 1 knife for $99.99 or a set of these for $110.

Congrats on the home purchase, GWAE! Not sure where you are in the process, but I would suggest retaining the services of a RE lawyer to look over documents and represent you at closing. I did not use one on my first purchase, but did on subsequent purchases. It was money well spent, and definitely reduced my stress in the process. Good luck!
And soon, you get to be introduced to the stress of home ownership! :)

I inquired about using one but was advised that I do not need one. We are buying a house under 100k and it is our first house. I was told since this is a straight forward 30 year fixed and no house being sold that we don't need one. We are also using the PHFA loan program which has strict guidelines on the type of loan that can be used. Part of this loan requires all buyers to take a mortgage counseling session. It used to be required for all scores under 680 but now it is required for anyone not putting down 20%. Anyways, during this session she looked over all of the paper work to make sure they were not putting us into a crappy loan situation.
For anyone in PA looking at mortgages this program is decent for people not putting down 20%. They charge a higher interest rate but there is no mortgage insurance.

BTW, WHO THE F, dies from getting tangled in their bed sheets? Babies maybe?
When I was living in Minneapolis, my roommate, who was a professional belly dancer, was working the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. Her sister, also a belly dancer, had a one year old. They put the baby in a zip-up pup tent, bare to the walls (like a playpen, they thought), for 20 minutes while they did their act. The baby crawled to the opening, got tangled in the netting for the interior door, and suffocated between the inner and outer walls.
So, yeah, it's probably mostly babies, and old feeble people. But it's also true that one of the best ways to immobilize someone is to wrap them in a wet bed sheet; they're completely stuck until it dries. Could be some nefarious intent in those stats as well...
Quote: JimRockfordA single and a play at the plate? For me it's a beautiful thing, but Hollywood wouldn't stand for that ending. The dramatic moment has to be a home run. Tragic moments must be strikeouts.
Ted Williams hit a home run in his last at bat. Babe Ruth hit home runs in his last two at bats.

Roberto Clemente hit a double off the wall for his 3000th hit in his last at bat. That was pretty dramatic, considering no one knew it would be his last at bat. And a double fit Clemente and his era better than a home run would have. Clemente was always better running the bases than jogging around them.

Quote: GWAEWe are buying a new refrigerator. My wife wants a side by side but I don't like them. Does anyone on here have one that they hate, if so why? I guess if you have one and love it, why?
I have had a side by side for 20 years. Pluses are I find it convenient to use since you don't need to bend over as much as with a top/bottom in whichever configuration you buy it. Love the ice dispenser which are usually only on SXS's. Negative, the freezer side is fairly narrow and difficult to fit in something like a turkey. This is not a problem if you also have a home freezer. A large commercial size SXS such as a SubZero would also solve this problem.
Enough said right there. Sorry pal, but that's the way life is. If your wife wants a side by side... you get her a side by side.Quote: GWAEWe are buying a new refrigerator. My wife wants a side by side...

Haha that is likely going to be the case.
I always say let them win the battles, but I will win the war. My problem is the narrow ass freezer. I keep explaining to her that we couldn't fit a turkey or a frozen pizza. Even the fridge side couldn't fit a pizza box.
I remember seeing a long time ago a sxs that had a funny shaped door. It made it so the top of fridge was really wide and the bottom of freezer is wide. We have been looking at these things all day but I haven't seen one of those yet.

Ok, here's the deal. The best fridge bar none is a bottom freezer. Think about it, what part of a fridge/freezer combo do we use most? The door and contents are at eye level for the most used items. The freezer which is used less [the roll out ones] is on the bottom, will hold a turkey and thermodynamically cool air falls and warm air rises.
If that doesn't blow her skirt up for ya, then get her a side by side with a bottom freezer and and ice maker. If that aint enough ass kissing than get a new wife.
