The phones are so much better. Not sure why you would ever need to switch out the battery. I charge mine over night and watch hulu at work all day and it lasts me until around 7pm. If you are bad at charging you can just as easily carry a battery charger and it is do easy to charge phones now. I even have a solar charger that I use.
Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed. I AM NOT PART OF GWAE RADIO SHOW

Isn't this where people were leaving in droves due to the higher taxes or something.

No. We are leaving on a crusade to turn red states blue. It worked in Nevada, and is working in Arizona and Florida. We need 100,000 volunteers to move to North Carolina. I hear George Soros will secretly pay huge relocation bonuses as long as you bathe in the blood of infants he personally ripped from the wombs of virgins.

Here's some highlights of the budget.

The Governor's salary was increased by $70,000 to total $250,000. The last raise was in 1999, so $180,000 in 1999 is worth over $273,000 in today's dollars. So even with that huge raise his salary still doesn't track with inflation. I honestly don't think that's an unreasonable salary for a high level politician living in a high cost of living State.

In actuality I do not disagree with you about the salary level for the top executive of NYS. Just my point is that while Republicans were in charge, there was no raise as the state had yearly budget problems, but as soon as the Dems had full control the raise passed.
There is a hidden cost in the governor's raise that of course won't make the press. Public employees hired after a certain date (guess 2009 or so?) can only have their pension calculated with the Governor's salary as a maximum. So highly paid State workers just got a potential huge increase in their pensions. Check out "SeethroughNY" and see how many State workers exceed that $250k per year....

I have 2(3 if you count the one that's messed up) of the same cell phones(Galaxy note 4) one is set up for ATT and one is a Verizon(I guess the one for Verizon is rooted or whatever they call it). Don't ask why, Its a long story. Basically I thought I lost my phone so I bought another one in a rush. Then I ended up finding the one I thought I lost.

I have ATT service. I was recently using the Verizon phone with my ATT service, but I seemed to be having problems sending photos. It would start a new text window for pics for each person. Some pics wouldn't even send, it was a pain in the ass. So I switched my sim card back to the ATT phone and it works great, except for one big problem. My batteries(I have like 6) are draining super fast on the ATT phone compared to the other phone. I did an experiment where I used the same battery in both phones and let it sit while I slept. The ATT phone was down to 12% and the other phone was at 75% in the same about of time.

I do have some different apps on each of the phones but mostly the same apps, or so I think, I experiment with lots of different apps. I can't seem to pinpoint any app that might be causing this. In the past I tried using an app that supposedly helped deal with this problem, but that didnt seem to help. Any suggestions?

Glad you posted this. I know next to zilch about what you are asking, so thought I would reply. lol

I have ATT. The phone I use was a gift, it is a Huawei, the one the feds and China are all in a dither over. Since I got it, I have marveled at how long the battery life has been. If I'm not using it much, it will last almost a week. But last week it got down to below 20% and I plugged it into a wall charger that has 4 amp charging. It charged up overnight, but then the battery dies in hours. Now it dies in 4-5 hours?

I thought maybe I had to search for a new battery? I checked to see if any apps were on? BTW this phone comes with apps from Huawei that cannot be removed, and there is such little memory left, I can't add any apps, so that sucks, a bit. But then I turned it off and rebooted it, the battery then lasted 12 hours without going dead. Still thinking I needed a new battery, [or phone]. I recharged the phone from my laptop and now the battery is back to lasting several days?

I was wondering if we got hit with a mass coronal discharge, or my battery was bad. Now I am wondering if that was something to do with ATT? Dry cell battery's don't fix themselves that I'm aware of. Did ATT somehow suck the life out of our battery's? Why would my battery's strength go to nothing for almost two days, and then return to being an awesome battery?

Not to the best of my knowledge? I checked, and double checked. It was weird and now that it's working well, I was just going to forget about it until Axel posted this and the similarity of events and carriers ? I seem to be a magnet for weird things happening, lol.

He was making low 6 figures, then got a raise from Buffalo to I think $750k a year, and quit a few days after signing the new deal to go to Alabama where he will make low 7 figures.

You should google Jim Calhoun, who was BY FAR the highest paid public employee in Connecticut a decade ago. I remember lots of stories about it.... Like he cost as much as 30 professors or something like that....

Don't want to start a new thread.........

Lots of cuts in the NY State budget to all sorts of "important" things......

But luckily for the first time in decades all three (Senate, Assembly, Governor) are Democrat. So they were able to give the Governor and Lieutenant Governor a small raise, just 40%!!!!!!!

I'm glad Cuomo can now feed his family......

They should give all state employees a 100% raise. Quit prolonging the inevitable.

Because liberals only move to states like Nevada and Florida where there is no State Income Tax.

Deep down inside, they hate paying taxes like everyone else, the only issue is many of the ones on here pay ZERO in Federal Income Tax as well. And the loudest ones are perfectly capable of earning enough income to owe taxes but have made the conscious choice to not do it. They have found it more profitable to play the system (LEGALLY) to live life as they choose and F the others stupid enough to support them.

I now have 3 (plus the 4th I lost last month) note 3s. I keep them for the same reason you keep your note 4s. One I bought for my mom, so we are using the same batteries. And 3 spare batteries with charge cases. I love them.

3 battery drains I've noticed.

1. GPS turned on kills it. I only have it turned on when I'm actively navigating.

2. Screen brightness. I keep it as low as possible depending on ambient light and adjust it manually.

3. Bluetooth I'm not using. I also turn that on manually.

So, if I charge it to 100% and put it aside with the screen blanked during sleep, when I wake up I have 97-98% left. Maybe one or a combo of those will help you.

Four years ago, we are told of a violent shootout involving outlaw biker gangs in Waco. Two hundred people were arrested, with most of them held on a million dollars bond. Many spent months in jail unable to raise the money. The DA ran a grand jury that returned indictments on almost all of them and yet today, the last of the charges were dismissed. Number of convictions obtained none.
Audio tapes reveal most of the shots come from semi automatic rifles. Number of semi automatic rifles found among the two hundred arrested or abandoned at the scene- zero. Number of semi-automatic rifles the police had- more than a dozen. At least four bikers initially said to have been shot by rival gangs turned out to be killed by police bullets at long distance.
Almost two hundred vehicles were seized and civil forfeiture proceedings initiated, even though not a single person was convicted and only a few were brought to trial.
Can't wait for the blockbuster movie.

Yea but Twin Peaks has BOGO Boneless Wings on Tuesday.

So in your world where 9 were killed, 4 were killed by police. Who just happened to plan on shooting bikers that day because they had nothing better to do. And just decided to show up with their duly authorized weapons to shoot bikers who were just minding their own business.

Only you, yea you Billy would blame the police here. Talk about revisionist history.

Maybe you were a biker in another one of your lives where you seem to have been at every pivotal moment in liberal history.

Anyone have any thoughts on Charles Scwab's switching from a transaction basis to a subscription based one.
Instead of paying a fee every time you buy and sell, now you can pay a one time set up fee or about $300 and have $30 a month subscription. Will this disrupt the industry?
I recall paying $50 per transaction not all that many years ago. $660 a year flat fee certainly would be a significant savings long term.

Millions of jobs, in Texas and across the country, depend upon trade with Mexico, and the federal government shouldn’t do anything to jeopardize those jobs. The answer is not to punish Texas farmers and ranchers and manufacturers and small businesses. Closing legal points of entry would harm American commerce and legal transit between Mexico and the United States, and leave coyotes and human traffickers to roam free in the wilderness of our unsecured border,"
Its just a forum. Nothing here to get obsessed about.

Not at all unusual in the 80's and even early 90's

One of the reasons Dividend Reinvestment Plans were so popular pre internet is because once you were a stockholder, you could buy and sell directly through the company with no transaction costs.
I remember buying single shares of Ford, Wendy's, Harley, and Dial. I got a bill for about forty dollars in transaction costs and $200 in commissions. DRIPs were great on costs, but you couldn't time your transactions or set buy or sell prices. Everything was done via regular mail.

The schwab news was for financial planning...not trading.

https://www.subscriptioninsider.com/news/charles-schwab-now-offers-investment-advice-digitally-via-subscription-6448-1.html

Quote:

Last week, Charles Schwab joined the subscription economy, offering investment advice digitally via subscription. The company previously offered this as a fee-based service called Schwab Intelligent Advisory, charging clients an advisory fee of 0.28 percent. The new subscription-based service is called Schwab Intelligent Portfolios Premium, and it builds on the company’s free, more basic 24/7 digital investment service called Schwab Intelligent Portfolios.
Now, rather than paying an advisory fee, Schwab Intelligent Portfolios Premium will pay a one-time initial fee of $300 for planning and a $30 monthly subscription fee, billed quarterly. Using Schwab Intelligent Portfolios Premium requires a minimum investment of $25,000.

As to $50 commissions, the only time I paid that much was when I bought a Vanguard mutual fund through Schwab. $49.99 commission on buy and sell. In retrospect, it was dumb (I was dumb back then). It was for VFINX (S&P 500 index fund), and I could have bought SPY (same index, different vehicle) for I think $8.95, or a Schwab-branded ETF or fund for free.

These days you are pretty dense if you are paying ANY commission for index funds or ETFs. Every brokerage firm offers their own white labeled funds with no commissions. Vanguard actually lets you trade ANY ETFs with no commissions (launched that this year).

For trading individual stocks you will still pay something, less than $10 per trade at most places. If you're an active trader you can usually get better prices on bulk trades too.

In Arizona, the border towns I visited are dying. Downtown Douglas has magnificent commercial architecture but is a sea of for rent or sale signs. Thousands of Mexicans used to flood the town, buying goods and taking them back to Mexico. Now the border can take hours to get thru and it's down to a few dozen people.
In Naco, the public school counts on the tuition they get from the forty or so Mexicans families pay to have their kids educated in the USofA. The number of Mexican students has declined as the waits to cross have gotten longer. In such a small community, the transfer of some of the Border Patrol agents from the Port of Entry to Texas will sting. These are just about the best paying jobs you can find around here.
On the flip side, the bar on the border is booming as the extensive waits at the border have cut down on Arizonians crossing over and paying a dollar a beer in a cantina on the wrong side of the fence.
The border fence at NaCo extends some six and a half miles in either direction. The fence in Douglas starts about ten miles later.
So someone who has journeyed for a thousand miles now has a six mile detour. I'm sure that keeps a lot of people from starting out.

Yes, the game has changed. I mostly use TD Ameritrade these days. They do have fees, maybe $6.95 or less but my guy is always putting more free trade credits than I can use. I think it's about 250 a quarter. Whatever they call their personal wealth funds does charge 1% a year but I got $2500 when I switched to them ,thanks to AARP.

Last Oct we went to a pig roast. Took my igloo cooler with beer and some food in it. When we got home apparently it was thrown under our deck which is our back door that we never use. It was completely forgot about until today. Opened it up and cans of beer exploded in the winter and food turn terribly bad. Part of the inside is black with mold. Would it be safe to clean it or would mold ruin the liner? If cleaning what should I use? Bleach? Hope we didn't ruin it, just bought it last year.

I'd just rinse it out with the hose, and roast it in the sun for a couple weeks. Then try to clean the inside with soap and water.

Roast it open of course, not shut.

Scrape out what you can first, the loose stuff.

Boil a couple quarts of water

Add a pint of vinegar when it's boiling.

Cool maybe a minute, so it's still quite hot.

Pour it all in the cooler, swish it around for a minute, let it sit for 5 minutes, swirl again and dump it.

Wash with Dawn suds in water. Should be just fine.

Very lightly clean it out and then give it to Poker Grinder as a gift.

ok thank you. That is kinda what I was going to do but not with the vinegar. I was worried that somehow the mold would stay in the lining.

Has anyone watched or is watching Santa Clarita Diet? It’s on Netflix. A bit on the wonky side, but interesting nonetheless.
