Nothing in the rules says she has to accept
SooPoo's money. She can refuse and should
refuse it if she hates him as much as she
claims. She's going to call the police if he
shows up? All she has to do if she wins is
say 'no thank you' to him and the problem
is solved. Its really the right thing to do. Its
certainly what I'd do. Why would I want the
money of somebody I dislike that much, why
would anybody.

I'll take anyone's cash, even if I think they are a stalker, a cretin, a bully or a jackass.

I mean, after all, you dislike casinos, but are happy to go and take their money. Why should you care about them when you have their greenbacks in your pocket? Money doesn't have any memory.

---

S'funny what happens when two people with control issues clash, though.

For one thing, Bob was right that this wouldn't end happily ever after...

there is nothing and no rule that says that they have to pay that winner in person. What part of that don't you get?

I think Bob's point is that there's no rule that says that they can't pay the winner in person, either. Limiting the manner of payment is creating a new rule, which isn't something that one (and only one) party to the bet can do.

But I understand the casino rules going in.
They don't change the rules while I'm
there and expect me to go along with it.
A suit doesn't come up to me after I make a
bet and tell me that if I win, I have to stand
on one foot for 30sec before they pay me.
If they did, I'd take my bet back and tell
them to shove it.

Thats exactly what I'm saying. People involved
in a bet can't dictate new rules after the bet is
agreed to. Why doesn't she tell him he has to
be barefooted and have his hat on backwards
at the weigh in. She can't tell him anything, as
he can't tell her anything.

I understand what you're saying but I'm asking him to stay away from me for personal reasons, and I would normally be completely clueless as to why he would insist on paying me in person when he could just as easily give the cash to Mike to give to me, but I know that he is doing this for no other reason than to get under my skin. I'm not making it a rule that no one can pay me in person, because Scott and I had a falling out I told him I don't want to be around him. That's not me making up a rule. And he's trying to force the issue using the "rules" of the challenge in his defense but he just needs to give it up. I don't want to be around him, pay Mike, and the bet is completed. Same thing in my situation. I don't want to be around him so if I lose I will give my money to Mike to give him. It's so simple even a kindergartener could understand this.

Whoa! I go to work for a few hours and .... wow! Just to be clear, Nareed, are you implying you would fear for your physical well being with me? I have not been in a physical altercation since.... ever? And HB, you didn't seem to be afraid of me the last time we spent many days together.... I am not bullying HB, but rather, if people were not aware of our genders I would say quite obviously HB has been bullying me! And many otgher forum members as well.
Just to make it crystal clear---- THE BET will be resolved when HB weighs in with EITHER the Wiz or me present. As per HB's wishes, which I WILL AGRRE TO, I will not be there if the Wiz can be there. IF HE CANNOT, then to finish the bet I will need to be there. We don't have to make idle chatter. You stand on the scale, we read a number together, either you pay me or I pay you. If Mike is there he can text me the result, and then you can contact me on where I can pay you. Rest assured, after all that has happened here, I will trust no outside agency to complete my portion of the bet if I lose. If you lose, and prefer to give the money directly to the charity I selected, the American Diabetes Association, I would trust you to do so.

That's nothing to do with what you stated. You said, and I paraphrase here : why would anyone take someone's money of someone they disliked.

I'm not talking about rule changes or anything else.

I'm point out quite clearly people will take money from people they dislike and actively hate. HotBlonde has every right to take the money from someone she wants to avoid, and the dislike shouldn't cancel a bet. This is nothing to do with rules, or the action of money hand over.

What does that have to do with the price of
eggs? What does it matter what your reason is,
the bet is not personal, its business. You can't
use your personal feeling dictate new rules
after the bet is agreed to.

This whole thing remids me of when I break
a dish in the kitchen, my wife goes nuts. Yet
when she breaks a dish, it doesn't bother her
in the least. Thats because she has different rules
for herself then she does for me. And to her
mind, thats just great.

Baloney.

Dollars are dollars. Not apples. Not oranges.

Taking money from someone or something you hate is the same regardless. I'd prefer to have the money than not, and if you'd throw away $1800 cos you don't like someone, you are a fool.

If you start deciding it's okay from a corporation rather than individual, your hardly being parsimonious.

Money is money, and who gives it to you either matters or it don't.

So much melodrama. What did SooPoo ever do
to you, anyway. You live in Mexico. He lives in NY.
Do you know he's a licensed doctor and at the
hint of any kind of actual problems, he could
lose his license? I'm not joking, I know a doctor
who got drunk and went to his ex wifes house
and broke down the door, and the state pulled
his license. He now practices overseas somewhere.

So I think you're pretty safe with SooPoo.

OK- If you win I will give Mike the money, if he is willing to be the carrier pigeon. I will try and take a hiatus from this thread, as the vitriol, especially from Nareed, is getting unpleasant. And by the way, as an incentive, those who bet against me, and ONLY those who bet against me will be allowed at the weigh-in. If requested I will even wear a bikini to weigh in! But don't be scared. I will hopefully be at a healthy weight at the time and won't look like how I do now in a swimsuit, lol!

I'm sorry but I don't like the way this is heading ... SOOPOO has a right to be there as he is one who has bet against.

It's unfair to state 'reasons away from this site' as an excuse to bar SOOPOO when he is replying in a concerned manner IMO. If SOOPOO is 'pulling a fast one' over me then he has done well but I trust mine (and other forum members) instincts.

If SOOPOO decides to retire from the thread then it will still leave a bitter taste in the mouth - unless SOOPOO has performed a heinous crime then I feel that he has every right to be at the weigh-in (as per above statement) - he does not have to be invited to the meal as that was not stated in the early days.

I will be in Vegas at that time but, as I have a choice whether to be present or not, I'm 20/80 against going due to the recent activities and vitriol being thrown. Of course I will pay my dues to Mike if I don't go.

That tends to happen when one gains self confidence back. At any rate, what does it matter to you? HotBlonde should be damned happy with herself! And if you think she has grown an ego, then stop replying to this thread and drop it.

This is sounding like grade school antics! Obviously HotBlonde doesn't feel comfortable with SOOPOO around...get over it! When a girl doesn't want you around, you leaver her alone. Very simple premise??? The Wiz will validate the results and SOOPOO will get paid accordingly or pay Hotblonde...done deal.

No, money IS money, that's the point. It's the ultimate fungible commodity. Whose it was is of no concern. Who it is NOW is what's important. Your making the sort of loser talk that pretends you are gambling with the casino's money after winning. It's not casino money. It's your money.

She said SOOPOO's behavior is "stalkerish." That does not come to the level of "SOOPOO is a stalker." However, HB has been given an official warning about another remark yesterday. She is playing it close to the line, but hasn't crossed it yet.

I was actually talking about Nareed's post. She said SOOPOO was being a bully and "beating up on a woman". That's a pretty heavy hammer to swing on someone in our overly sensitive cultural. If that label were applied to me I would be livid.

With everything that's been said publicly about this I think SOOPOO has every right to protect himself from claims of non-payment if the money goes through an intermediary. I've had a few customers through the years where we've butted heads. Sometimes I've had to give a refund and other times they've had to pay what they owed. We don't like each other and in 15 seconds it's over and done with. It doesn't sound like there will be any shortage of people around if SOOPOO has to pay HB. Grow up already!

Did you miss the word 'if' there?

No, I didn't. It seems quite clear to me.

Not at all. But you can keep thinking what you like.

I don't need to prove anything here.

Two questions:

Firstly, HB, will you be in Vegas through the weekend following 10/17? It's looking less and less likely that I'll be able to attend the actual weigh-in, but I'm hoping to still make a weekend trip out of it. I would like to meet you in person and hand over the money personally if at all possible.

Secondly, if the answer to the above question is no, do you take PayPal? That would be the easiest way for me to pay you other than cash, in person. Otherwise I can mail you a check, or we can go through the Wizard if necessary (I don't think this should be necessary).

There once was a blonde who claimed she was hot
She posted some pictures and we saw she was not
She lost weight for cash, went to Vegas for a bash

The alternate version-

There once was a blonde who claimed she was hot
She posted some pictures and we saw she was not
In Vegas she'll be weighed, but doubt she'll get laid
The Wizard is invited, but not Scott

I was gonna block it, glad I didn't. We have quite the poetic talent here!

With all due credit to your poetry skills, I can't let this one go without a ban over verses 2 and 3. Three-day suspension.

A "large boned" gal copped a 'tude

A poster believed she was rude

His poetic whimsy

Was deemed much too flimsy

Now he's got three days to just brood
"What, me worry?"

That was good! It is still early, but I nominate that for post of the day. Keep those poems coming.

The lesson he will learn when he's in the hole,
Is not to lay when the taker has full control!

There was a poster named MakingBook,
who wrote a poem with a nasty hook.
Now he's doing time,
for his poetic little rhyme,
and that was all it took.
