No, you really are not doing okay because somebody actually has to explain this to you. You've run out of gas more than once and had to leave your wife in the car, unprotected, while you hitchhiked somewhere to get more gas. You have no idea what kind of area you're going to be in when you run out of gas. You could say yeah, it was the interstate, it was safe. Really? When I had to go to Chicago on a run when I had the cab company the dispatcher would always remind me to make sure I had lots of gas because running out of gas on the freeway in many places in Chicago was a death sentence. When you get back to it your car is going to be stripped of everything and if your wife was in it what do you think would have happened to her. When somebody acts like that, has that kind of behavior, what's it called. I don't want to say it because we have hair trigger mods here now and I have no idea what's considered a personal insult these days.

You don't have to explain anything to me, I didn't say it was a good thing, Things happen and it's what happened, and I can't change that. How do you know she was unprotected or what the circumstances were, were you there? You are just speculating, for all you know she may have had a fully loaded handgun and she is a better shot than 90% of the population, or perhaps I put a sign up saying come kidnap me. You are making mountains out of molehills. Sorry to disappoint you but we were nowhere near a crime-ridden area. It doesn't matter what YOU think, it matters what she thinks. Again, if that's one of the worst things I have done in over 20 years, I'm doing well. It might be why my wife still lives with me, unlike yours.

I hear people will be buying real clunkers with no car insurance for riot patrol in Florida right away. Vehicular homicide of pedestrians has just been decriminalized by the Governor. It's a stand your ground state so I suppose people in a Disney parking lot can shoot back at the drivers.

If a vehicle has an orange title that means it's a salvage title which means the vehicle was in a bad accident and was written off by the insurance company because it cost more to fix it than it was worth. You can get these fixed and have it inspected by the state and they will issue you a repair salvage title. All this means is a State inspector made sure all the parts were installed and the vehicle looks safe. He does not drive it, he has no idea if it pulls to left or right or if the frame is bent, so his inspection is almost meaningless. I was talking to a guy on the phone about a 2010 Toyota minivan and he said by the way, it has a repair salvage title. I started asking him about the accident it was in and he got furious with me, said I was stupid. LOL He was from a foreign country. I guess in his country you're stupid if you ask questions about the vehicle you might buy. I have since read some articles that say run away from these vehicles as fast as you can because they always have things wrong with them that are hidden. And good luck getting insurance, most insurance companies won't touch a vehicle that another insurance company has written off.

My current car is a salvage. Got it with 70k, at 285k. Never once has insurance been an issue or one question. They even repaired it again when I was involved in an accident with 7k in damage that I was hoping they’d total it. You just make stuff up constantly eb. I don’t know that I’d do it again because of the resale issue but there’s been zero issue with owning it.

The transmission in my VW Jetta Hybrid died last month.

Because it was a hybrid, the cost to repair and replace it was astronomical, nearly as much as the car was worth.

I ended up selling it to peddle.com. They offered me more $$$ than any of the other “we buy junk cars!” sites. It almost seemed too good to be true. But nope, it was legit. They were here to pick it up the day after I accepted the offer and (most importantly) their check cleared. Couldn’t recommend them any higher if you ever have a car you need to get rid of.

I never make anything up. Lots more where this came from:

6 Reasons To Avoid Buying A Salvage Car

https://www.launchcu.com/blog/should-buy-salvage-car/

Hard To Insure
Very few auto insurance companies will write collision and comprehensive coverage for salvage-title vehicles because it is tough for an insurance company to place a value on the vehicle. You may find some insurance companies who are willing to write policies for salvage vehicles; however, this coverage will be limited.
